I don't hate Apple, but I kind of dislike Apple. It really bugged me when the "I'm a mac" commercials ran, with Justin Long or whoever. It was pretty UNBELIEVABLY biased.

I'm pretty sure that's called adjusting to the market.
Going by that logic every game that has ironsights and sprint is copying CoD or whoever did that first.
I have a big emotional bond between me and my custom built PC, bigger than Id have from some prebuild, where they try to rip me off on every single part just to save 5%.
Also, I use 27" iMac at school for HTML/Dreamweaver design, the interface is nice, but I prefer my home dual-screen. IMO school was dumb to buy those 6 iMacs instead of 10 more PCs with better specs for 3DS max. (the other PCs at school are brand new from this year)
And I'm sure people who build their own Caterham 7 will love that car far more than they would ever love a car they bought from a dealership. But that doesn't mean everyone should suddenly start buying kitcars and avoid dealerships cars that "try to rip me off on every single part just to save 5%." [sic]. Some people simply aren't cut out for or don't care about making their own computer to save money/get more value. They just want something that works, and works without issue, which is what Apple aims for. I'm not saying Microsoft doesn't aim for this effect too, but since these types of people will almost definitely be buying a prebuilt which will be loaded with crap and is fraught with the same "oh I need AV" "I need to go get Office" "why is there no email program" questions. Apple specifically markets the user friendliness of their machines, and that is all these people want. A computer that is easy to use. And by the same token, geeks like me and you can set up a Windows PC fine, but just because i can do this doesn't mean i want to. Everyone can tidy their house, but people still get maids to do it for them. Just because i can deal with a Windows PC, doesn't mean I want to. I just want a computer that works.

A market that was single handedly (re)defined by the iPhone.
There are a good few touchscreen phones and tablets that came out before the iPhone.
And sure, Apple makes some rather neat stuff. Other companies must compete so they made tablets/touchscreen phones similar to the shiny new iPhone everyone and their dog wants.
They just made them cheaper, less restricted, more durable, and overall more accessible.
I have an LG Xenon that does everything my iPhone did and more. My iPhone exploded because I dropped it once, and the touchscreen is ass when it comes to typing anything more than a sentence.
The xenon has a flip out keyboard, and it's made from fucking Hephaestus' crucible. I cant remember how many times it got soaked or dropped or stepped on. It still looks good, too. IMO anything by apple looks like shit if it has any scratches or blemishes (which are unavoidable).

iOS without a doubt is the most user friendly mobile operating system available, and that's one of the main reasons people like it after the temptation of a shiny, trendy device. I got an LG Viewty around the same time the first iPhone came out. My phone had a better camera, flash I think? and slow motion video recording which at the time, was friggin amazing. Your iPhone exploded did it? I take it you sued them? My friend had a Motorola phone that melted in his pocket and scarred him, they settled out of court with him. Scratches and blemishes are to be expected with any gadget, get a case and stop being so clumsy.
My biggest gripes about the iPhone is iTunes (piece of shit on any OS), locked down os, the tiny screen size compared to what I'm used to and the fact having one expensive Apple gadget is enough. I like the sound of decent battery life, how polished the OS and the apps for it are, wishing my Galaxy S II had those (or even just a graphically accelerated UI). I like to tweak and radically change the look of the phone and iOS can't really do that, so I'm content with Android for the meantime.

Well, they are white...
Personally, I hate my iPhone because I feel limited by it in comparison to the Androids I've seen. Android is much more open and modifiable, but on iPhone I feel locked-down. I like iOS as a media player, but hate it as a smartphone system, and unfortunately because 3G connectivity drains the battery like fuck it ends up being a shittier media player than iTouch. I did like their nanos, though, I'd always say the iPod was the only thing Apple did right.
Which leads me to their computers. Yeah, they look all sleek and whatnot, all brushed aluminum and that, but you can still get a PC with all that for cheaper. Apple is really a brand that you pay for the logo, so is Alienware. I've considered a MacBook for a while now, and every time when I look at the options I have on a Windows platform PC in terms of hardware and cost, I decide against Mac. Macs are far too expensive for the crappy hardware, and if I, or anyone else, really wants to try OSX, there's always the option of Hackintoshing a "PC" to run OSX, and saving yourself hundreds on hardware. I've noticed every "Mac vs PC" video I've seen, the Mac user making it tends to compare Macs to a select few PCs that make Mac look optimal, and they notably ignore custom builds and pre-built non all-in-ones. Most of them tend to compare all-in-ones with the Mac because it's an all-in-one, and they attempt to pick it apart, but they never go to PC towers. Why? They know a PC tower will beat their Mac in terms of hardware performance for either a cheaper price for comparable hardware or better hardware for the same price.
When I try to explain the hardware argument, the users of Macs usually don't get it, deny it, reference the OS, or make a really stupid statement. I once had a Mac user say his Core2Duo Mac at 2.2Ghz with 2GB of RAM, because of "optimization," would outperform my 2.4Ghz Core2Quad with 4GB of RAM. There is no such kind of optimization, no matter what, you will NEVER see that happen. The users tend to have either a subconscious buyer's remorse they try to get rid of by justifying their purchase, or they just really don't get it. They seem to think that just because the computer is Apple, that all the hardware is immediately better than everything else, including PCs with higher clocked CPUs with more cores, faster graphics cards with more VRAM, and more than double the standard RAM. This blatant ignorance and stupidity I see, followed usually by insults when you finally defeat their argument so much that they have nothing else to say, really pisses me off, and it sheds a terrible light on the entire userbase of Apple products, which you become associated with if you buy one of them, and frankly, I'd rather not be associated with these "Macfags," as they're known.
Those are my reasons I hate Apple. Well, that and the fact that instead of trying to innovate now that they're being beaten in the mobile market too, they're suing everyone to try and force competitors' products off the market.
My personal opinion still hinges on the fact that Mac users still believe that they automatically have better hardware because of the brand name, same with Alienware (Sorry for Generalising) But trying to force opinions onto others is still wrong and arguing opinions is even worse. Fact is people are lazy Macs cater to that laziness and voila thats the answer.

The Mac VS PC adverts aren't targeted to hardcore gamers who would build a PC but users considering a pre-built. I think those adverts are just rage worthy for most viewers, and as a Mac owner I can't stand them! :v: Windows laptops are going to be better spec'd, but cramming it full of VRAM isn't going to make it run better as mobile chips tend to be gimped. A Mac works right from the start, where as Windows laptops usually need a reformat to rid it of the bloat companies install to make it more user friendly. Its so painful, especially on a Vista laptop!
I don't approve of the whole patent suing thing, I think its really childish and Apple are obviously getting hurt by the competition if they need to edit the look of the Galaxy phone and tablets.

If I recall the ads were a huge success in the US, but actual were met with a lot of dislike in European markets, where the windows "character" was seen as a lot nicer of the two and by far more favourite. It also led to negative connotations of the brand.
Not sure about the entiriety of Europe, since I personally don't recall the ads playing on TV's, but it was a case in the UK.
As to working out of the box. It really comes down to your OEM. There's some that have a tendency to overload laptops with bloatware, and others which essentially put minimal stuff on.
If you ask me, they shouldn't be allowed to put anything on, but that's not for me to enforce or decide.
My personal opinion still hinges on the fact that Mac users still believe that they automatically have better hardware because of the brand name, same with Alienware (Sorry for Generalising) But trying to force opinions onto others is still wrong and arguing opinions is even worse. Not necessarily lazy, people try to find the easiest way to do something. If you had a two shops, would you go to the closer one or the one that's further away? For people who are on a budget, the further shop which has cheaper prices, they would go to that one. But people who have enough money go to the nearer shop
What I dislike about Apple?
I dislike how apple bullies smaller (and even larger) companies by using patent infringement as a guise. Now, usually a smaller company will not have the resources to dig through millions of patents to find out exactly what's been infringed upon and by who (In patent cases the burden of proof is often on the defence as much as the accusing), forcing them to invest money they usually don't have. Which in tern often leads to the smaller company coming to a resolution with apple out of court which usually means withdrawing from the market and/or giving up any patents.
Apple is not hip, Apple is not cool. Apple is the worst kind of corporate bully in modern business. They are big and they know it, they use back-door tactics and legally questionable methods to get their way.
Oh and, before the iPhone:

What is it that apple innovated exactly? Squares on the touch screen? A closed store which requires developers to pay ridiculous amounts of money? Apples main innovation is good advertising.
Macs suck because they cram shitty foxconn parts into an overkill aluminum body (thinkpad cases are better)
But windows also sucks thanks to it's shitty NTFS file system and the need to work on thousands of different computers
Linux sucks because there's not alot of software for it for the standard pc user
All computers are shit

Oh boy, it's this thread again
All the people spamming dumbs on mac fanboys and winner on pc fanboys make me laugh. In before dumbs because I posted on my iPad rather than lean forwards to type on my PC.
Macs are for people who just want something simple.
A tricycle that has little customization, you can't even crash or hurt yourself riding it.
Personal Computers are for people who want Chuck Norris performance and gaming.
A Street Bike that's extremely customizable, YOU'LL FUCKING KILL YOURSELF UPON CRASHING
I was generally negative towards Apple, before I tried one of my friends iMac while recording some music. I found that I really liked the idiot-proof OS and hassle-free interface. Now I use my mbp 13' for everything media and not much else(and surfing of course). It's a great working computer.
It's kinda funny though. There seems to be almost a witch hunt for mac users, by Windows warriors trying to defend their OS. Especially on this forum. There isn't a day without another thread about videos destroying macs, or people getting angry on patents or Steve Jobs.
They also call "all" mac users stupid hipsters that have no computer skills and too much money.
I don't know where these stereotypes came from, but it takes me back to those years when ps3-fanboys and xbots would do everything to discredit the others console. God help you if you try to defend what you like, then you are a fanboy.

Q: Why do people hate Apple?
A: Because they can.
Simple as that.
I don't know. But what I do know is that I hate people who automatically think I'm a pretentious hipster Apple fanboy because I have one (I got it from my school).
