Get a new CPU. Buy an Athlon II 240, or a 635.
I'm pretty sure the Athlon II X2 240 is a downgrade, even if it's colder...

It's pretty much equal. And it's a better overclocker. I've got mine running at 3.2GHz on stock cooler. I idle at 25C and hit ~32C underload.
30-40fps
haha, no

I'm doing even better than that, I've gotten my 245 to 3.8 (currently running 3.65 because not totally comfortable running at 1.55V 24/7) on the stock cooler. Idle at 36C and hit 45C under load.
It's nice but upgrade to a quad core, that's what most games will be made for. BTW if you are wondering if your pc can handle a game :

No chance in hell you got 30-40fps in GTAIV using a 9600GT@1920x1200

this is a joke right
it's a good one

It's worth a golfclap for the giggle. :golfclap:
It's not great, but it's not exactly a piece of junk. I wouldn't buy it, personally.

I haven't touched my voltages yet. And I'm gonna try getting farther once I get a new motherboard. I got a bulging capacitor on this one, it's extremely obnoxious, and it's about time I got something nicer.
Also, you got 100MHz advantage on stock clocks anyways. :fuckyou:

I got a cheap ($30, yeah) motherboard, so if it's any consolation, I couldn't even get it to 3 GHz without touching the voltages
It's decent
[editline]1:11[/editline]
But you already have it, right?

Yea.

Yeah, I'm using some cheap $30 Foxconn motherboard too.
I'm surprised you couldn't get a 200MHz without touching voltages?
I actually managed to get it to 3.2 without touching voltages, but it didn't always boot, so I had to bump them up. and I was able to get to 3.6 without touching them again
Fuck it, I'm not getting anew CPU until Fusion comes out.
Computers are a pain in the ass to upgrade.
If I get a new Video card, I need a New CPU to make it faster, If I get a new CPU, I need a new motherboard so it will fit, If I get a new Motherboard I need new ram, It never ends.

No. The 6400+ is an AM2 socket. AM2 takes DDR2 RAM. All you need is a new motherboard and CPU since you already have the RAM. Just make sure to get a AM3/AM2+/AM2 board, or an AM2+/AM2, and you will be able to get any AMD CPU on the market right now.

Yes but I'm going to need an SLI DDR2 Am2+ motherboard, which are all over 150 dollars, and hard to get.

Why do you have to have an SLI board?
Why do you have to have an SLI board?
Because I am getting a 460, then next year I'm going to SLI.

Save yourself some money and just don't get an SLI board. Your GTX 460 will last you a good three years. Then just upgrade to another single card setup.
SLI and Crossfire isn't as beneficial as you think.

I guess your right...
My 6000+ is pretty awesome, work with anythin I chuck at it.

I chuckled quite hard
Yeah, what's your point? Those were benchmarked to test the CPU, older games with lower settings and a very low resolution ensure to show the largest difference in framerate between the CPUs.
You're telling me you don't use maximum settings?
And now you're just pulling random numbers to try and appease me, but you're still too high.
Whats wrong with not playing at maximum settings? I got everything in TF2 cranked down so my FPS never drops below 60. Its hard to play scout well at low fps.
According to Crytek CryEngine 3 is less demanding than CryEngine 2
