• What's the point of a gaming keyboard?
I'll just say this: There's a reason why there's so many Logitech G15's and Logitech G19's around.
People like having screens attached to EVERYTHING. Most people don't know any better either. I do like Logitech's scissor switch keyboard though, much nicer then the mushy G-series.
£5 keyboard: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ BC E GHI MNOPQR UVWX Z
I'm hoping you guys could convince me enough to buy this useless piece of sexy crap: [img_thumb]http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/razer-nostromo-3.jpg[/img_thumb]
Mr. Arm please have a seat. Really, it looks like one of these fancy chairs, but for hand
Some crappy COMPAQ ABDEFGHIJKLNOPQRSUEW
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ G19 above again, upgrade from a G15v2 and I wouldn't give it up for the world. LCDMiscellany is so bastardly handy for network details, CPU graphs, and other stuff.
Thanks for mentioning LCDMiscellany, I got it. This shit's awesome.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWYZ This keyboard is seriously $5. Only 1 letter was missed. [editline]1st December 2010[/editline] Stop eating at your desk, its disgusting as fuck.
I'll eat at my desk all I want and no I don't find it disgusting, and I think the majority of users here would agree, so long as you don't have the eating habits of a five year old. I also highly doubt that that is the cause for my problem.
The only useful thing I can think of is the back light
Everyone has already answered your question. Macro keys, n-key rollover, stupid gimmicky backlit keys. What more do you want?
Backlit keys are very useful if you game in the dark. Plus the letters will never wear off.
Backlit keys are very useful if you game in the dark. Plus the letters will never wear off.
You should be ashamed if you have a use for backlit keys.
You should be ashamed if you have a use for backlit keys.
You should be ashamed for being so judgmental.
You should be ashamed for being so judgmental.
I swear you are absolutely the #1 worst poster in this entire section. You never, ever contribute anything except for your occasional contest (how's that last one working out? ha) and are always going "wahh i feel i should protect everyone for stupid reasons that i think are acceptable". You are a fucking idiot for needing to use backlit keys because it means that you have to actually look at your keyboard. Can you not think? Do you not have a brain? Because it certainly seems that way with the quality of posts you shit out daily. [editline]1st December 2010[/editline] I await your inevitable "im so sorry im -" retort.
(idiotic ramblings) You are a fucking idiot for needing to use backlit keys because it means that you have to actually look at your keyboard. Can you not think? What.
does it make your "gaming" any better? unless it's backlit and you're in a dark room, not at all. are they nice to have? yes.
So what you are saying is that people who cannot type without looking at the keyboard are "fucking retards" ? What.
Yes, especially if they're going to be spending extra money on a higher end keyboard.
You should be ashamed if you have a use for backlit keys.
It's not their fault basements don't have windows.
You should be ashamed if you have a use for backlit keys.
Why? Not everyone is as perfect as you are, believe it or not. Backlit keys are enormously useful if you never learned to type 'properly', like I have. Sometimes you can get one letter off and yjrm oy ;ppld ;olrr doy. It helps enormously when you can see the keyboard.

Dat motherfucker.
[img_thumb]http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/4533/img0017y.jpg[/img_thumb]
That lower row is GIGANTIC!
It's not their fault basements don't have windows.
many do and regardless you can turn on a light. I don't quite understand why someone would want to sit at their computer in the dark unless they're 13 and don't want mommy to know they're staying up. they're "cool" and all but I don't see a practical use to them over standard keys. That being said I often look at my computer for # $ % ^ & because I always mix up where they are. I know everything else but it's completely understandable if you don't...it has nothing to do with intelligence.

It's really not that hard.
I love my keyboard, the difference is very noticeable. A bit expensive, but oh well. Steel Series Merc Stealth
So move your hands until you start hitting the right keys? It's really not that hard.
or just glance down, it's really not that hard. Why don't you just use a blank keyboard? I guess anyone who doesn't is retarded.
I don't quite understand why someone would want to sit at their computer in the dark unless they're 13 and don't want mommy to know they're staying up.
Better contrast/brightness on monitors(especially helpful if you are using a somewhat old one), enhances case lighting(if you're into that kind of thing. personally, I'm not.), enhances mood for horror games, probably a few other reasons.
or just glance down, it's really not that hard. Why don't you just use a blank keyboard? I guess anyone who doesn't is retarded.
you can't glance down if the lights are off and you have no backlighting
or just glance down, it's really not that hard. Why don't you just use a blank keyboard? I guess anyone who doesn't is retarded.
I get headaches from excessive light, and I seem to get less eye strain from having the lights off. Eye strain is a real problem when you hunker down to code for a few hours straight. Sometimes it's nice to have backlighting. Better response time is always a plus too.
You guys can't touchtype? It's not that hard to know where your fingers are on the keyboard.
even my mom and 10 year old brother can touch type
You guys can't touchtype? It's not that hard to know where your fingers are on the keyboard.
I can, but sometimes I'm tired or I am just having a bad day so I just want to type slow and look at the screen. And it helps a lot when you use ~3 different keyboards a day in different configurations.
