G15 represent. [img_thumb]http://meta.filesmelt.com/downloader.php?file=g15represent.png[/img_thumb]
What do you actually use the screen for?
I'd buy one with a screen, to see the temps
you can't glance down if the lights are off and you have no backlighting
which is why I don't understand why you would ever have the lights off none of those reasons make any sense to me. invest in a dimmer bulb and a lamp? Is it not better for your eyes to have a few dim lights rather than a big, bright screen with nothing else? If you're going for mood lighting why do you want blue lights directly underneath you?

It'd be cool to use the keyboard screen for Youtube videos. But what's the fucking point if there's a screen 20 times bigger right in front of you? Maybe if you're in game or something.. but still. Steam Overlay or something.
I get headaches from excessive light, and I seem to get less eye strain from having the lights off. Eye strain is a real problem when you hunker down to code for a few hours straight. Sometimes it's nice to have backlighting. Better response time is always a plus too.
I'm like the exact opposite. I need some amount of external light or else I get headaches because the light seems more concentrated coming from one source. f.lux does help A LOT though if there is a lot of white on the screen. If I do want it to be a little dark, but not too much, I just turn on my floor lamp instead of using the ceiling light.
why would you watch a video while playing a game
Thus proves my point of a screen on a keyboard being more useless.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ. I love my G15 v1, it's much better than the new g15s
why would you watch a video while playing a game
Try camping in World of Tanks.
Fairly old, generic HP keyboard here, and I don't plan on ever replacing it.
Try camping in World of Tanks.
Woah, World of Tanks looks pretty cool. Well, I wouldn't play it, but the trailers are like Global Agenda parody type trailers. Funny stuff.
Logitech G15
Logitech G15
Is your G15.. lacking sensitivity I guess is what I want to say. Mine I have to put a lot of pressure on keys to get a response, so even when it feels like I have it pressed down all the way, it's not.
All it is is giving you are temps/in-game stats/macro keys

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWYZ Only missing x. I'm on a wireless keyboard too. :unsmith:
why would you watch a video while playing a game
A walkthrough perhaps? This really is silly. Why have a gaming keyboard? Why buy a nicer car when the others work just the same? I'd rather drive a comfortable responsive car than drive a pos with poor handling and a seat that sticks you in the ass with a staple.
G15 represent. [img_thumb]http://meta.filesmelt.com/downloader.php?file=g15represent.png[/img_thumb]
G19 represent.
I love my keyboard, the difference is very noticeable. A bit expensive, but oh well. [img_thumb]http://images17.newegg.com/is/image/newegg/23-239-006-TS?$S300W$[/img_thumb] Steel Series Merc Stealth
Pretty ugly.

I think I might get this keyboard because I like the way buttons are, but I never dealt with custom buttons before. Can they be used in any program or what?
I have a G15 and never use the macro keys. Really I prefer the multimedia aspects of it (i.e. LCD screen). I could a generic keyboard if it had a lcd/led clock on it. I don't really see the need for all the extra things gaming keyboards offer. But that's just me.

Are there any keyboards that add functionality? Things like new buttons, modifier keys etc.? Games like ArmA 2 and GMod tend to use quite alot of hotkeys for things.
Yes, especially if they're going to be spending extra money on a higher end keyboard.
I can walk without looking, doesn't make it the better way to walk I'm afraid.
oh, and asking whether gaming keyboards are worth it is like asking if bose are worth it. No, they're not, but that doesn't mean you should stick to your apple earbuds. You'll still appreciate an investment in a nice mechanical keyboard because they usually have anti ghosting and quality switches for the same price of most gaming keyboards.
But bose headphones are about as bad as apple earbuds. They are seriously terrible for their price.
Cheapass HP keyboard coming with a prebuild represent. But I'm okay with it.

Gaming keyboards are just $5 membrane keyboards with lights and some extra keys thrown on them. This is what you pay for. If you're going to spend more than $20 get a mechanical one, the difference after excessive use is immense.
