How do the sidekeys work? I think I might get this keyboard because I like the way buttons are, but I never dealt with custom buttons before. Can they be used in any program or what?
You can bind the macro keys to key combinations or macros.
The program you use to assign the combinations/macros shows the buttons, and what button/combination/macro it's assigned to.

I have everything at default (the G keys default to the F keys when you first install the software), except for G1, which is a macro that spams Profanwolf's mail box in Minecraft full of shit.
Here's the program (built-in to the key profiler) that you use to make macros.
and how is that useful to you at all
I use it mostly for checking when Windows 7 is taking a memory leak on the shitter, or when the Internet slows down. It's useless since I can just check everything while playing a game, don't have to have 2-3 resource managers etc. open on my second screen.
The keyboard I have currently is a shitty rubber dome, so the only thing I would get a gaming keyboard for is macros.
The good thing with rubber domes is, you can easily disable a key by removing the cap and taking out the dome. Do it to someone who's a prick to you, or do it to get revenge on that damn windows key for interrupting your amazing killstreak!

I like that keyboard simply because you can switch the keypad around to the other side. :iia:

I don't have one though.....
I'll ask santa for it!
There's no way I'm paying 50+€ for a gaming keyboard just to get a gaming brand name, some extra buttons and a screen on the keyboard (seriously, when you game, you should be looking at your monitor, WTF?).
I do have an issue with my Logitech Media Elite keyboard though: i can't crouch + lean left + move left at the same time :saddowns: (that's ctrl + q + a)
Gaming mice are actually worth investing into IMO.
I have a £5.99 keyboard from ASDA.
But bose headphones are about as bad as apple earbuds. They are seriously terrible for their price.
That was my point. Both bose and "gaming" keyboards are overpriced trash, but the idea of getting better headphones/keyboards is a good one for better sound quality/anti ghosting and overall higher quality.
still loling at all of these idiots thinking the alphabet thing will actually test ghosting and assuming it's just a gimmick because they can use 2 keys at once with a standard keyboard.

Bose makes keyboards?
Out of curiosity, what exactly is this alphabet test I keep seeing people post?

Hold both your shift keys and type letters.
Supposedly the more letters you can type while holding the two shift keys, the better your keyboard is.. which I doubt is true. It's just a test to see how many keys you can hold while the keyboard can still register the button presses.

I see, these macro keys are useless to me then. Will get a cheaper kb then
walking isn't the same thing as typing
It really is. It's a largely automatic action fueled by an intention to get somewhere or write something. Either you look where you're placing your feet even if out of the corner of your eye and don't trip over everything or you're an idiot and don't pay attention to where you're going. Either you look where you're placing your fingers and stay precise or you end up typing nonsense.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
My keyboard is a dell keyboard
been using it for 5 years and it still responds really fast

well I'm sorry your capability for typing is hindered by having to look at the keys as you type
I bought a Razer (fucking hate Razer) Lycosa Mirror a few months ago and it's one of the few Razer products that ISN'T a piece of shit. I love it. It's very sleek, the keys are slightly glossy so my fingers glide over them easily, it's got some nice features like volume control, backlighting over the whole keyboard / just WASD / off, and you can disable the Windows button by macro. It was worth it.

I can touch type on my left hand, my right hand doesn't have the same muscle memory as my left hand. I have a backlit mechanical keyboard, because it has a nice feel and it is badass for lan parties. It makes me hate typing on my laptop though, it spoils me.
As for people talking about how expensive LED backlit keyboards are compared to the regular version. there are 105 keys on most keyboards, RGB leds aren't cheap even in bulk. Good LEDs in general are expensive.
ABDEFGHIJKLNOPQRSUW
meh. it's a keyboard my dad had in the shed so I'm not expecting anything amasing you of it..

And no use for them...

Make a kickass LED matrix and do a 50 bar equalizer for it? 50x50 LED array would be awesome.

It will take a long time to get done, what with 2500 LEDs to solder.

Pretty.
That would be a histogram.
ADEFGHIUJKLOPRSTUWY is what I get on the Asus N61J Series keyboard.

It'd be cool.
Mechanical keyboards=real gaming keyboards
I have a mechanical ibm and a simple keyboard, the simple one is much better for games IMO
I got a Logitech Deluxe 250$. Was $14. It worked fine for everything from TF2, CS:S, to Starcraft 2 and BC2.
You don't need a expensive keyboard to play a game.

Buckling springs.
Mechanical means so clicky keyboards?
It looks cool and has cool leds.
