You seemed pretty angry at the time. What makes those useless anyway? Just because you don't have a use for them he doesn't? For example, keyboards with media keys have no advantages for me as I don't use media keys; however some people do use media keys making them useful to them and not useless.
explain to me how knowing what your CPU usage is when looking at your desktop is useful, and how 2-3 clocks are useful
explain to me how knowing what your CPU usage is when looking at your desktop is useful, and how 2-3 clocks are useful
so he can ensure the clocks' precision
so he can ensure the clocks' precision
It reads the computer's clock.
Intel must really love bridges
I think i shall upgrade from a i5-750 to something in the i5 K Ivy Bridge range.
I'd only upgrade if you need it. [editline]14th January 2012[/editline] currently my q6600 is sufficient
Man, when the day comes that I can upgrade from my 3.2ghz P4, I don't know if I will be able to handle the extra speed...
I have no idea how you manage to stay sane surrounded by all those old computers MIPS, scares me a little.
Why can't I find anything on Ivy Bridge i3's?
Why can't I find anything on Ivy Bridge i3's?
No info has been released on them, just i5 and i7 chips. It surprises me as well as it would be a good CPU to show off their power consumption improvements on.

What to the S and T mean in the models? I forget.
What to the S and T mean in the models? I forget.
They're just lower clocked ones with a lower TDP from what I understand.
Looking at the list that makes sense.
Pepper;34212843']I'd only upgrade if you need it. [editline]14th January 2012[/editline] currently my q6600 is sufficient
depending on what you do. Bf3 owns mine. So does a couple other heavy games. I think it's time to retire my C2Q
My Q6600 lives in my garage.
The majority of BF3 isn't even playable with a Core 2 Duo e6850 so I'll definitely be upgrading when Ivy Bridge gets released.
Is there a definite way to tell if your CPU is bottle necking? I'm fairly sure I should be getting more out of my 5770, and I know my CPU is shit (8250e)
A good way of doing it is enabling the FPS count and playing at the screens native resolution and then writing down the FPS, then switch the resolution to 640 x 480 and is it's the same framerate then your CPU is bottlenecking The resolution only demands more from the GPU and make sure vsync is off too [editline]15th January 2012[/editline] BF3 runs fine on my q6600 maybe because it's overclocked.
So it's only a matter of time until microchips reach the limit (i.e. 1nm), then the only way to improve performance would be more cores?
So it's only a matter of time until microchips reach the limit (i.e. 1nm), then the only way to improve performance would be more cores?
I swear to god, scientists are going to find a way to get smaller than a nanometer.
I swear to god, scientists are going to find a way to get smaller than a nanometer.
A nanometer is still bigger than atoms, right?
A nanometer is still bigger than atoms, right?
it takes half a second to make yourself look like an idiot it takes one second to google it yes
I already knew the answer, but I guess my way of putting the sentence up made me look stupid :(
Man, why the hell does my gaming rig still have an Athlon XP 3200+? :suicide:
My 4 and a half year old gaming computer is still going strong with an E6600 and an 8800 GTX :v: Might be a good time to build a new one when Ivy Bridge comes out
Had no idea it was coming that soon, thank god it's compatible with my motherboard though since I have a 2500k build on the way.
P7P55D and core i5 750. Upgrade? Don't have lots of money (Could probaly afford $200-$300)
no point
