• Choosing a new computer for video rendering/photo editing.

Hello! First post in H&S for a very long time, so hope this is in the right place. I'm looking to replace main photo and video editing machine, my MacBook Pro. It's a 15" pre-retina with an i7, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. I've also got a MacBook Air, probs about a year old that is just used for web browsing. The Pro is used with an external kb and mouse, hooked up to a 25" monitor at the highest res the laptop supports. I've noticed as Adobe software becomes more capable, the 5 year old machine is starting to show it's age. It's taken me the best part of 2 hours to render some video that I needed to be done in an hour and really shouldn't have taken so long. My full time job is photography and video, processing nearly 75,000 images a year and a new 4TB drive every 6 months, so this needs to last 3-4 years comfortably without needing upgraded. I use Avid + Adobe software. CinemaDNG video and RAW images are the usual. Building a computer is not totally out of the question but I would much rather purchase a prebuilt system from a major manufacturer with on site support. I am able to lease hardware if there's a significant cost advantage. I've already looked into the Mac Pro but for 3 year old tech the price is ridiculous and the lease terms aren't very favourable. I understand there's a new more modular Mac Pro coming out in a year or so designed to win people like me back to Mac but ahead of that I want to look into upgrading incase my laptop goes kaput. My budget is up to £2500 including VAT. All my external hard drives are currently HFS+ but I imagine there are fast drivers for Windows that I could use with these? I had a cursory glance over the HP workstations, but I've been out of the windows game for so long I've no idea where to start. Are Xeon's most likely the play well with Adobe software? Do I need a Quadra graphics card? Do they even still exist? Thanks folks!
