If there is one thing I don't care about, it's the cost of the flight. ya'll should know me by now.
6-9 hours is trivial if you manage to sleep through it, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a scenario where you'd be so sleep deprived you'd be able to sleep through a 24-hour flight. I slept 18 hours after not getting more than an hour's nap at Assembly Summer 2010, that was 72 hours of continuous LAN party, that's pretty close. Just ran some queries against a 3.5GiB Postgres DB that's on really slow spinning rust, not even a problem. Surprised by how good the experience was.
Flying sucks balls, period.
It's not just the flight either. I'd be the only Elgato employee running the booth, which I've never done before. I'd have some help from some local staff that help out each year but everyone else will be at Twitchcon. I think I'd be fine doing it after I had already run a convention booth once before, but it being such a long flight, representing the company by myself basically and providing support for the streaming equipment on site. As long as I could properly recline I think I'd be ok. I have my fast XPS 15 for watching stuff, playing games. And also my nintendo switch. But I would not at al want to do the flight on the normal planes I'd traveled on. My back was in agony after 4 hours of no lumbar.
You'd also literally be surrounded by Australian shitposters.
fuck
Benzos absolutely take all the pain out of flying
That's funny when you consider that Delta is the airline that got cops to violently drag a passenger out. Probably quite a bit of difference between US and international service.
32C at midnight in my room, went through a bin and found a #lifehack https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109818/021b104a-4bee-4d3f-bf33-02db45e2c0a6/IMG_20180729_001837.jpg Next time someone says climate change isn't real, in real life, I might become violent.
I have an interview with Dell next week. Wish me luck boyos
Applied for a job IBM posted a while back in Panama Oklahoma a while back. Got a call from someone speaking Spanish. Turns out it was for the COUNTRY of Panama, and somebody at IBM fucked up when listing it on Indeed. They keep doing it too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama,_Oklahoma
Reminds me about a time at PAX a few years ago They had an esports team, unsure if they were international or not, I don't follow csgo at all, I just watch my friend cast it. But they had a casual signing session or something, nothing fancy, just like photos and shit at like an intel booth. My friend approaches and they're like "Do you want my autograph or something" To which he replies "Nah, do you want Mine? I'm famous". Kid falls for it, and hands over the text and his arm It was too late before he noticed he had been disgraced with a penis on his arm. https://orig11.deviantart.net/e380/f/2014/100/3/8/b1_in_hd_by_tomajko-d7dz8iy.png
Such things are not exactly normal occurrences, even if you fly on a thousand flights a year you're not going to have much of a chance to see anything like that.
My 14 hour economy flight to Tokyo wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. ANA’s seat width is pretty comfy and I always choose an aisle seat, plus the alcohol was free On a related note, I almost have enough frequent flyer miles to fly business class to Tokyo, so that’s exciting. Probably gonna do that next year
I flew delta for my senior class Italy trip and it was fantastic on the way over there. Great food and economy class wasn't terrible (but not great for someone who can't sleep on planes.) On the way back we ended up in NYC for a day and a half because our connecting flight home had been cancelled and Delta basically said "sorry guys plane broke." They only provided us with an overnight hotel after our chaperones bitched in their ear for an hour. I suppose that equates out to a net zero score for Delta
I have read too much reddit/internet to see that wifi is common on airlines. I have flown around 10 times and only one flight had on-flight TV. China ->Thailand (10yrs ago) had on board smoking and no enforced seatbelts even. Wifi/on board entertainment seems like an unrealistic dream to me. Granted, I have mostly flown cheap-ass airlines.
about 9/10 flights longer than an hour i've been on lately have had wifi unfortunately some of them don't use gogo and then i don't get my free hour of wifi thanks to tmobile just everyone use gogo inflight and it'll be fine
Never had wifi, only had in flight TV on a single flight.
ana's wifi was pretty ok on their 787 dreamliner. but on their 777-300er the most expensive plan had a 100 MB data cap, like what?
I'm not sure if this still works but you used to be able to use a prepaid visa with no money on it because they didn't auth until you landed.
I found a getac ruggedized tablet in the intersection, run over. Contacted Getac, ran the S/N, found the owner, they thanked me lots and sent a shipping label. Hopefully the company who owned it will get it back and some poor stupid employee won't get fired for dropping the $1000 super rugged tablet into an intersection less than 5 months after it was bought and letting it get run over by a TRUCK.
considering tmobile gave me my ~8 months left of pixel bill credits in one lump sum (they used to be applied at like 13.55 a month), i figure i might as well make the most of not having to pay my cell phone bill for the next month or so
Isn't airplane internet garbage anyway? Like at best around 1mbps? At that point I'd rather load up my phone with emulators and have a gamepad and a beefy powerbank in my carry-on that I can take out when bored, because I know from experience you can't really shitpost on those kinds of speeds.
Long airplane rides--the only time I've ever used Netflix downloads.
Even when I paid for WIFI it barely worked. Like so bad that could barely open text only emails.
Why'd they do that?
I never had the issue, but I know a lot of people on that promo would have to contact tforce every month to get the credit applied, and I think they wanted to change billing backends and getting rid of all the monthly promos made it easier
