Still using my Galaxy S7. This thing will never die, although its battery is beginning to show some age because I have awful charging habits. Might have to get a battery case or pay Samsung for a replacement at some point.
i really hate how the selections for android tv boxes are like 3 of them
my nexus player is getting not so hot, so my choices are xiaomi mi box or nvidia shield
two options, that's it
What exactly is the difference between Android TV vs Chromecast?
Android TV functions as a cast target, but also offers native apps without you having to pull out your phone
I wish Chromecasts came with a remote. Just for basic play, forward/back, next/previous, and volume controls. I guess that's defeating the whole selling point of "your phone IS the remote" but like what if I'm in the other room with my phone in my pocket and a friend wants to change something, or if I'm in a call and don't want to use speaker, etc. First world problems, yeah, but remotes aren't that expensive to produce are they?
if your friend also has an android device, it can show the chromecast notifications
I just ordered a used LG G5 for $90.
No real reason for it, just seems like it'd be a fun device to tinker with. I'll probably try to port UBports to it, since on paper it sounds like a great convergence device, having DP alt mode over USB-C and all
Plus swappable batteries!
After watching Blackberry Key2 reviews, I think it can be definitely called "ThinkPad on a phone market" - oldschool design and keyboard, from a Northern American company turned chinese, and notorious for shitty screens :V
it's officially EOL
mine is dropping the wifi all the time, and using an Ethernet adapter is worse
Yeah, Microsoft launcher was pretty much my launcher of choice before I updated to the P Beta on my PH-1.
Since using non-stock launchers is still kinda fucky I've just been sticking with Quickstep since then, but I hope the Microsoft launcher gets support for P soon.
Been thinking about buying one on ebay my self, I'm still using my G3 so it would be a decent upgrade for decent price.
I'll let you know how much it sucks
Was worried my Note 3 might have some hardware issue with charging or some app I had that was causing random shutdowns.
But then I looked and my battery is bulging by about 35%, so hopefully replacing that will be the end of it.
Has google assistant been sounding less natural to anyone else lately?
Christ, is cold this bad for phones?
I was dropping my mom and a relative off somewhere, and was using Waze on the way there and when I was making my trip back home. On the way back the battery of my Nexus 6P died, even though it was about 65% before I left and assumed it would make the trip.
When I came home I laid it on the charger, and noticed it was 'charging' really, really fast. When I noticed it, it went from 30% to 73% in about a minute and started charging at a normal rate again after that mark. Could it be the cold from the HVAC ducts that sapped my battery? My phone was directly in front of an air duct and I forgot to close the vent, pretty sure that is the cause here.

The Nexus 6P has batteries that are for some reason particularly vulnerable to degradation and random shutdowns... If you're still using the original battery you're likely at the end of its life.
Might wanna look into replacing the battery or getting a new device.
Samsung Galaxy Note9 specs and features revealed in detailed han..
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9's launch is still over a month away, but that doesn't mean it's too early for the leaks to start pouring in. A we've got a big one from Eldar Murtazin - a well-known veteran in the industry.
The Galaxy Note 9 will look almost identical to its predecessor, the Note8 with the only noticeable difference being the back. As previous rumors suggested, the fingerprint reader has moved under the dual camera setup to avoid any accidental touches on the lens and smudging it. The materials used for the build also remain the same.
Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 feels considerably heavier than the Galaxy Note8 due to the increased battery capacity. So yes, consider that 4,000 mAh battery confirmed. He even goes into details about battery endurance - one to two days of normal usage and 23 to 25 hours of video playback at maximum brightness.
Cold can REALLY fuck with batteries, especially if your phone's back is good at conducting heat.
We had a streak of about two weeks where it was really cold and I lost count of the calls we suddenly got from customers who were having battery issues with mostly iPhones.
So I got it today. First impressions are good. It was running the firmware it launched with (!) so it was easy for me to unlock and throw Lineage on too.
Been running pretty smoothly since, though I've only had it for a few hours really
I got the phone for about 1.5 years now, and surprisingly the battery is still doing fine despite all the complaints I've read out there. If the battery is clearly starting to degrade I might consider if I want to replace it or get a new phone altogether. Overall it's still doing fine but hey, a new phone is always neat to have.
It's super cheap and super easy. When you do it, go order a new backplate and you'll basically have a brand new phone. I did mine and the whole thing cost me like $50. (Even switched the fingerprint sensor to black so it matched the black case (sliver sucks))
It actually happens very rapidly with the 6P. I'm still replacing the battery for my 6P just to keep it as a backup-backup phone.
so yeah the nvidia shield fuckin owns
plays everything on plex without breaking a sweat
Help my LineageOS 14.1 lockscreen has been replaced with a black screen that shows me the time and the names of people I've received notifications from, and I can't unlock it. Is this some sort of driving mode?
I'm thinking of buying a replacement battery for my Nexus 5. The current one discharges so quickly, but I keep convincing myself that replacing the battery will be a waste of money, as surely the phone will die soon. Right?
But it just. Refuses. To die. And I refuse to buy a new phone until the one I'm using dies or is unusable .
Anything in particular I should look out for when purchasing one?
I just know I'm going to jinx myself and it'll die the day the package arrives.
I don't get new phones often. Posting this from my oneplus one which I bought on release. I've got a s9+ coming tomorrow as a treat. It seemed a good idea but now all I see is a load of bitching about curved displays and screen burn ins. Have I made a bad choice or is this mountains out of mole hills? My other choice was a honor 10
curved is more of an aesthetic thing more than anything, some stuff will look at bit weird at the edges when you look at it straight
no idea about the burn in tho, perhaps another S8/S9 owner can chime in
screen burn ins are caused b the use of amoled screens, nothing to do with curved glass, but curved glass makes it much more fragile unless you put a case on it, and in that case what's the point
Hi, I can't vouch for S9 users, but having experienced using an S7 and currently now an S8 I haven't had any display issues. If people have been saying that, check to see how deep the problem goes, whoes reporting this issue and how frequently it's getting mentioned. I doubt it'd be at the same level of media coverage as the Google Pixel 2 but it's worth investigating.
I really regret buying this Moto G4 a year or two ago. It seemed like a good phone at the time but this thing overheats like crazy and has no compass, which is infuriating with Maps.
My girlfriend went with the Moto G5 and it seems like a solid phone. It even has a compass and I'm really jealous
