God I am so not used to phones this thin. I kept fat fingering key presses when I'm trying to grab my phone. I'm sure it's something I have to get used to.
I am so goddamn in love with this S10+, My previous phone was a Huawei P20 which is great but somthing about it irked me, I think it was the notch and EMUI as well as the large chin with the fingerprint sensor in it. But I have to say the rounded screen of this S10 is so fucking slippery.
So I'm in a bit of a weird situation where I need to factory reset a Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge without having access to the associated Google or Samsung account. (My dad died recently) There's obviously theft countermeasures that prevent me from doing this. Is there any way to circumvent this at all?
Boot into fastboot and there should be an option to format it.
It warns me that i may need to sign in to the associated Google account to use it after the format, and searching the web says that Samsung's reset protection persists. I'll just end up with a locked phone if I do it that way.
Factory reset protection will definitely kick in and you'll need to sign into the same account again, your best bet is to try to recover the account somehow FRP can be exploited out, I've done it multiple times though never on an oreo or higher device If you can unlock the device, then simply removing said accounts and or adding your own Google account to it should be enough
I have the phone unlocked. I can't remove the Samsung account without inputting the associated password. It's a bit difficult to recover accounts. I feel like that would definitely be treading into morally problematic territory, as it requires me to attempt taking over the email account and all sorts of shit. Surely it's possible to somehow take over the device through some root shit or whatever? I have no idea how any of that works though.
Its just occurred to me that the S10 range have headphone jacks despite having and using one.
As I said, if you can add a different Google account then it's simple, ignore the Samsung account for now, add another Google account and if there's a Google account there already then try removing it Just in case, enable oem unlocking in developer options and then do a factory reset and try to login with your Google account If that didn't work, you can flash twrp and flash a custom rom with gapps then try logging into the account, once all set up you can go back to stock if you like If that still didn't work and it required the original account, the only option is to use a custom rom without gapps But anyway just having your own Google account tied to the device should be enough
I'll try this and report back then.
Not sure if this is the right thread for that kind of question, but does anyone know how risky it is to change my Honor View 10 screen myself? Apparently I can buy a repair kit and a replacement screen online for ~50€ and I've watched videos that make the repair look somewhat easy but I've never done that sort of thing myself and I don't know if there's a high chance of fucking things up.
Look for the repair guide on ifixit, there shouldn't be much problem in doing it yourself if you follow the guide
Can anyone recommend a good USB-C power bank? I'm going camping in a couple months and I'd like something with around 10/20k mAh, type C in and out, alongside type A of course if someone else needs it too. I want the type C i/o so I only need to bring one cable for charging it and my phone, but if there's something better without it I could reconsider. I did find an Anker one on Amazon but it has a warning that says "make sure to unplug your phone when it's done charging so it doesn't return power to the bank when it's done" so idk about that one anymore.
In my experience Anker tend to be the solid choice.

If OEMs can't opt-out of this in order to be CTS-certified, that's going to be great, because at least most of the security updates now fall into Google's hand. If they can, welp at least Google tried, because i honestly can see OEMs opting out of this for whatever reason they can come up with.
except thats actually a fantastic buy from what I hear s10 and plus are obviously amazing, but the s10e is like, extremely fucking good or something
From what I understand the only difference is screen size and battery.
My good old Sony Z2 has had a plethora of issues lately (battery and display connector broke, GSM antenna died), so I figured it was time for an upgrade: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1195/76cfa87a-7de5-4189-a88c-c0dcd0cdc394/IMG_9041.jpg Weird how little the P30 seems to be discussed around the internet.
I think it's because Huawei phones aren't for sale in the US
Any possible way to fully block area code from calling you? Or is there any good apps for it?
Oh boye my dbrand skin came, shame I can't apply it till after work. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133402/ca3e492e-8aab-406c-8d00-78eabf24a3ef/20190513_125849.jpg
I've got a phone with a completely damaged screen and I need to get pictures off it. Unfortunately it will auto default to charge when connected to a computer and I can't change it. Is there any means I can use to get it off there? It doesn't have any dev settings enabled.
You could try unlocking its bootloader and then installing TWRP via fastboot
It's an American phone, unlocking it is impossible.
Unlocking the bootloader would wipe it anyway even if it could be unlocked, kind of defeating the whole point.
Can't Samsung phones connect to external monitors? Maybe you could get a type C to HDMI adapter, and if the touch functionality on the screen still works (I'm assuming that you can't see anything with the screen on, but that doesn't mean you can't still interact with it I think) you could move stuff around like that.
You need DeX in order to connect your phone to external monitor. But this might be just what he needs if the phone is newer than S7 and he's able to buy/borrow a DeX.

I would assume by the adapter and cable options that the station is just a docking alternative. Here's a cheap C-HDMI adapter because I assume the official Samsung one is pointlessly overpriced.
