You could also just replace the screen if you're going to buy something.
Well. I've gone and dropped a dumbbell on my phone now, it looks like a potato chip. Looking for something $300<, unlocked, for the US, no Chinese shit.
you can find some refurbed phones for cheap on Amazon unlocked. saw an LG V30 on there for $269, not a bad deal for it but you have to deal with LG never updating the software. there are guides to root it and get custom roms on to it however if you want android 9.0
Maybe this one https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-A50-SM-A505G-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B07PV68K73
Seems like it has not so good coverage in the US. I'm leaning towards the LG at this point; someone recommended the Pixel 3a as well, but I'm not sure if that's worth $400...
So, what is the consensus on the One Plus 7 Pro. I have a Pixel 2 XL now and my only concern is the camera being a downgrade but I haven't seen any side by side shots.
Huh, I kinda expected it to have coverage in the US. Odd.
So I got this thing years ago and want to update the Android version on it but have no idea how since there's no update button under "about" so how do I go about doing that?
That model he posted is the A505G, thats the Latin American model, same as mine
It should be there, look around the settings and the preinstalled apps. Doubt the manufacturer has released many updates though.
I found this but it says nothing on where to get this firmware...
Doesn't matter, your tablet has a mediatech SOC, not rockchip.
I was told I'd regret buying a Pixel 3 XL to replace my aging Galaxy S7. I don't regret it at all, this thing is amazing.
It's not a bad phone, but it's kinda pricey for what it is. It's more expensive than the newer Galaxy S10.
Huh... Is there anything I can do to update without buying new hardware?
Nope.
Those are words I don't know the meaning of...
I wanted Google Fi, and that makes it worth it I think. Fi is great.
It doesn't really matter then, those things I listed just improve the visuals of the UI and add some conveniences. Either way you can't update it. It very outdated and insecure, so I recommend only using it for well known apps, and don't browse the internet.
Shame, I was hoping Android would be less restrictive than Apple...
It's way less restrictive overall. You just can't expect much in the way of official or community support for no-name shitbox devices, really. If you want a crappy cheap tablet, there's excellent LineageOS support for lots of Kindle Fires, even the older ones.
Can't expect much from a no-name tablet that released in 2014 with a Mediatek SoC.
Fi works for any phone now though. I'm using it with my Note 9, and I'm about to swap that out for a OnePlus 7 Pro.
On non-Pixels you don't get network switching, you're permanently locked onto T-Mobile. T-Mobile's coverage is ass in my area, while US Cellular's is quite good. So I'm effectively just getting a much cheaper US Cellular plan with Fi, with the bonus of T-Mobile and Sprint coverage for visiting cities.
I mean, I got it for my birthday around the time it was new when my laptop fried itself...
It isn't really out yet, I think its out Monday in the US and Tuesday/Wednesday in the EU. Mine should be here Wed so I'll let you know.
Apple is a lot better at keeping their devices up to date than most (If not all) Android manufacturers.
Thanks babe
Sorry if this thread is more for android software than buying hardware phones, couldn't find another general to ask about buying a new phone. So I was looking for a new phone and was directed to Samsung Galaxy A70. It has all the features I want (great camera, unlocked, expandable memory, good battery, at my budget of $400) but I'm having a hard time finding out if it's compatible with my carrier, T-Mobile. I live in the US, and I found this website that says it doesn't do T-Mobile LTE? I'm not good about figuring out how out of US Market phones work in the US, so help with that would be appreciated. Secondly, any recomendations on where to buy it? There's a few ebay listings, but if people have a better place they would recommend to buy it, I'm all ears. Thanks!
It will not work on T-Mobile LTE unfortunately, you won't even get HSPA+
