You could try putting a sliver of scotch tape over pin 1 to block the +5V signal. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/596/3b6e6026-e440-4dea-be00-e2f09cfb2aca/0_original.jpg
I feel mostly satisfied with my upgrade to a Moto G4 but it was its quirks that quite bother me Sometime soon I'll probably upgrade to either a Pocophone F1, Galaxy A8 or a S9+ once they get cheap
I'm very strongly considering getting a pocophone, it is exactly what I was looking for a month ago before I gave up. Can I get confirmation on what bands it uses?
Also is there a place I can order it for at least some semblance of its original price and not $100 more?
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/7K2RIya/xiaomi-pocophone-poco-f1-armoured-edition-global-dual-sim-td-lte-256gb-m1805e10a/united-states It's looking pretty abysmal.
Damn, sucks that OnePlus 6T won't have a headphone jack, I was considering getting one as an upgrade to my OP5. Are those wireless Bluetooth DACs with batteries any good?
A bigger issue is the cellular band support. This phone is intended for Asian markets, so your connectivity in the US will be mediocre. There's no CDMA for Sprint or Verizon, but that's no surprise; plenty of unlocked phones lack that. The 3G band support is only optimal for AT&T, but LTE is going to be a problem. The Pocophone F1 has band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500). Band 5 is the only one on that list active in the US, and it's just a supplementary band for AT&T and T-Mobile. You're going to have very poor connectivity with this phone in the US.
I've had to tell several people this and it kinda drives me nuts
What's a good keyvoard rifht now? Gbosrd is sudeenly rwfusing to use autocorrwxt at all, as I'm demonstrsting rigjt now and it's pieeing me off. I've cjecked all settimgs and it does tjis no matter what. It demqnds thst I manually hit rhe sugfestioms insteaf of fillijg rhem in automatically. Of course, I can simply type slowly and accurately, but it used to work better than this.
Swipe, my dude.
Swiftkey
No.
Does it still take like five seconds to start up every single time?
I haven't had any issues with Swiftkey in years.
Swiping made me worse at spelling in general so I stopped using it
have you tried clearing Gboard settings since this is really only happening to you, so since it's just a you issue, it's probably something with your environment
It's been mildly annoying me with random shit for months so it's probably worth switching at this point
Why did Sony fuck up their 4.6" compact line? With the XZ2 they decided the mainline phone needed to be 5.7" and the compact variant needed to be upped to 5" Did <5" flagship-specced phones go the way of the headphone jack? Why do people want 6" serving trays in their pockets?
Screen to body ratios ruined phones.
Tell me, does it harm my battery if I keep my phone plugged into my PC through USB? I'm using my mobile internet for my PC when at home, which is great and all I love it, but does it harm my phone's battery if it's sitting at 100% charging? Also just ordered Nylon Bumper Case for OP6. I dropped my phone on the asphalt when I was drunk and I got super, super angry. Gladly the screen didn't break, I got only little scratches on the edges, but everyone tells me that it's only a matter of time, so now I ordered it.
Well, to be fair, the XZ2 Compact has less bezels so the phone's overall footprint is very similar to the Z5 Compact. It's like .3 of an inch taller. But 18:9 isn't exactly an ideal ratio for one-handed use with a 5" display, I will agree.
Going to replace the battery on my 2 year old Nexus 6P soon as I noticed the battery is starting to wear out from normal usage (surprisingly this phone never had the plagues this model dealt with in all that time). I ordered a battery with a thick cable and also a new camera glass and chin cover just in case. Anything I should be aware of before I tear into this thing? I'll be doing the job with a technician razor set and a heat gun to try to loosen the tough adhesive on the covers.
Did the same thing with my 6P a few months ago, changed the backplates from silver to black too. It's really straight forward, sometimes separating the back plate from the screen can be a pain.
Something like this happened to me a couple of days ago too, only swiping didn't type any words I was making but was inserting whatever was the next suggested word at the time. A simple reboot fixed it but I take it that didn't work for you.
It didn't, but I'm enjoying SwiftKey quite a bit so all is well.
I stopped using SwiftKey when one of my passwords started showing up in autocorrect.
you can blame some app for not marking their password field as a password field
It was actually because I use Keepass and kept the passwords in the clipboard, and then it began remembering the contents of my clipboard. I didn't think that through.
Yeah, clipboard is not a good way to use keepass. Too many apps remember clipboard history, including also SwiftKey. I always switch to the Keepass keyboard and press the password button. I do have a problem with Keepass' ui strongly suggesting that copying shit to the clipboard is a good way to enter passwords. It has a "copy password" in the view of an entry AND in the notification of an entry. They should remove the button in the view of an entry (or at least show a big ass warning) and replace the button(s) in the notification with "enter password" or opening the keepass keyboard.
Keepass keyboard? Which app are you using?
