Poco, Nokia, Xiaomi all have very adequate options.
You probably just wanna find something that’s stock Android, then set the app to open when the phone turns on. If there’s no sim in the phone and you’re not signed into Google, it shouldn’t be doing much in the background
Xiaomi doesn't officially support their phones in Canada. Nokia 7 and Samsung A8 are both around 500 CAD. Any opinions on them?
I'm spotting the 2018 Galaxy Tab A, 10 inch version for 269 euros shipped. Is that good enough or is there maybe a 7-8 inch tablet I could look at instead?
Has anyone here had a Xiaomi Mi A1? I've heard that it can reboot on its own which would suck, one of hte main reasons I want to replace my Moto G4 is the fact that it resets on its own sometimes
What do you guys use for adblocking? I've been using Unified Hosts Adblocking for a while now, and was wondering if there are better alternatives
SABS
Im assuming that Magisk module symlinks an actual hosts file, yes.
It's very "hacky", which is why I'm interested in other solutions
At the moment I'm using NotSABS, you can just use some github links to have it scrape host lists from providers.
getadhells's standard package, adaway's hosts (for mobile), and another hosts-file just incase it missed anything block everything for me outside of Youtube's embedded ads.
Still using Adaway here, works like a charm.
An Android tablet from Google? Okay, the Nexus tablets were pretty popular, I can-
Chrome OS
Ha, no!
At this price it's better to look at Surface line.
Decided it'd be a better idea to wait next year for the S9+ to get cheap to replace my Moto G4 rather than buy a midranger at the end of the year
Not sure how long I can stand this phone tho it's quite buggy
My OP5t got in, just kinda was feeling like moving on from my 3t and wanted to retain the headphone jack and no glass back.
Very commonly on 3G and rarely on 4G it'll drop the signal for no reason, it can get quite warm even while doing stuff like web browsing (specially if i have mobile data on), at random certain apps will crash leaving the phone unresponsive for a small time, if I use it while it's charging on a Samsung 5V/1A charger it'll have ghost touch, and today it decided not playing music was a good idea, it nearly made me fall asleep and not wake up for school, had to reset it for it, it will also rarely reset itself again for no reason
battery is kind of eh too by like 4-5PM I'll have anywhere from 40% to 15% left
it also blows for games but considering I paid like $120 bucks in local currency I can't complain much on that area
Isn't Chrome OS slowly integrating Linux apps? That has a lot of potential. With graphics acceleration, it could really be something.
But yeah, I don't really understand who the Pixel Slate is for
Do you get the signal drop problem on Stock or Lineage?
My Pixel XL's battery is slowly dying so I think it's time to switch. I've been looking at Nokia's lineup for a while now and everything looks decent from the 7.1 upwards, it's a tough choice. Don't see the point in getting expensive flagships phones now, especially when all I do is browse the internet and use messaging apps.
It is however tempting to get a Xiaomi Mi A1 ive seen it quite cheap specially the 32GB variant
So finally got the update to Android Oreo on my Moto G5 today (8.1.0 Security Patch level 1st August 2018).
Guess that means I will be looking for a new phone tomorrow knowing Lenovo.
I'm using this to limit phone's charge between 40 and 80%, surprised something like that exists

I got updated to Android 9 yesterday, how do I get rid of the ugly white searchbar below and of the unwanted date at the top of the screen?
I don't really want to switch launchers

switch launchers
Bought a USB Type-C to Type-A Female adapter hoping I could use ethernet with my Xperia X Compact, none of the ethernet adapters I have work with it and a quick internet search says it does not support ethernet. Oops. At least I can use the adapter for other stuff.
Any way to make it work or is there nothing I can do? I dug around in the settings, I could not find anything regarding ethernet in particular.
Going to have to switch launchers if those things aren't widgets, unfortunately.
Do you guys think it's worth getting the Pixel 3 for the purposes of knowing it's an Android phone that will work, and continue work for a number of years without fault?
Knowing Google's track record? No, not really.
It's got a whole range of hardware and software issues.
My Z2 Play got updated to Oreo yesterday (late af I know) and I've noticed that the nav buttons kinda shift around a bit for some reason. It's an incredibly minor detail but I tend to notice it. I looked online and saw some other people complaining, and someone said its actually intentional, introduced in Oreo, for the nav buttons to shift around against your will after every lock to prevent burn in. I don't know how much I believe that, but I can't find much else on the web about it. Nobody seems to notice, or it's just a small handful of people that it happens to have the problem.
So basically has anyone else noticed this on your O device? Is there a way to turn it off?
If it's an AMOLED device that's forced to prevent burn-in of the nav buttons.
Just kinda deal with it, I guess. Or install a custom ROM if you can.
