I hate so much of what's popular right now in component design. Just gimme some simple sleek stuff pls: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/media/image/thumbnail/CA082IW_177049_800x800.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132541/680c4db8-a14a-4686-b17a-247b32c5e601/AMD-Radeon-RX-Vega-64-Limited-1480x833.jpg https://noctua.at/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/n/a/na_hc4_chromax_white_4_2.jpg https://www.teamgroupinc.com/en/upload/product_color_b/fbc9ad9c2d423dd647e4e7b65fb054d5.jpg 👌
That case looks absolutely awful. Front panel airflow where?
Airflow is through the side, it's a weird case. If I was going to actually build something like that, I'd probably use the 750D https://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/ProductImage/11-139-024-02.jpg
Still not enough airflow, give me mesh front panel or give me death
Top part of the case has plenty of mesh, my 900D sucks in plenty of air (assuming you don't put a rad there) in the front, with basically the same design.
Yeah, front intake is mostly a bonus in those cases. Even the 750D has 3 fans up top, 2 on the bottom, and a rear for exhaust. Ran plenty of airflow for a CPU/GPU loop with lots of rad space.
Fractal Define is my favorite case.
I'm a little biased, but: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/657/afe57486-32d0-49c5-89c2-f8e17b4b5920/image.png Can't have airflow problems if your case is open on 3 sides.
I just got confirmed for Corsair employee discounts. So I'm eyeing the 500D SE.
Also can't have a positive pressure setup to keep out dust.
Does that matter when an air can reaches everything without taking anything apart?
Fair point
I was just thinking about this. Does this mean you have to have your PC running 24/7 to keep dust out? Because my PC certainly isn't on all the time yet has top vents where dust can definitely just float on in. Does the dust that settles on my internals through the vents get blown out when I turn my PC on?
It's funny, cause my current build started out as (and still uses the case of) one of these https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/228820/1e9847bc-8903-4231-a604-32fda7596391/138604_59559.jpg Some things change, others stay the same, I guess :V
Well the idea of positive pressure for dust is assuming you have dust filters on your vents, as most nicer cases do nowadays. The point is that with positive pressure air is only coming in through filtered points, as the random cracks and spaces you have in your case is pushing air out, not sucking dirty air in.
stock amd cards do look great, but i even think that case is too much for me. just give me a matte black box (window optional)
900D owner. Kill me. Realtalk, I cant get most mini and nice cases because so few of them don't have 5.25 drive bays, what if I need an optical drive!??
why not just run external enclosures? i don't even keep spinnydisks in my computer anymore because they end up being the loudest thing in my PC, i just run SSD only unless I need mass data or archival
I need SATA access to the drive, I don't think USB interfaces can do what I need to do (direct 1:1 image creation, don't ask). Right now I have a fractal meshify with it's side panel popped open, and the SATA cables just lying about.
My dilemma is for my HTPC i need as many 3.5" bays as possible, but i also want as small a case as possible. which is why the fractal mini was perfect because it was a matx case with 6 3.5" bays!!
My problem is that I don't really need drive bays, I just need tons and tons of I/O. Not just rear either, though I'd appreciate 12+ USB ports on the rear. I need at least 4x USB-A, 1x USB-C (2x preferable), SD reader, and an HDMI passthrough for VR. Those are the things that being able to have in front would be significantly more convenient. All the cases I've seen that I actually like have both no 5.25 bays and bare-minimum front I/O. One of those could fix the other (5.25 bay I/O panels exist after all), but having neither is a problem.
Pretty sure you can find internal headers to expansion brackets for USB stuff. Plus just regular old PCIe usbb expansion cards.
Oh I know, it's just that having all that on front - without having expansion cards running off of extenders hanging everywhere - would be extremely helpful, especially since my main uses of this unit these days involve a lot of plugging/unplugging in front (VR headset, eSSDs, charging my Switch, charging my headphones, charging my tablet, etc). Issue being, to add more front I/O, that ISN'T just type-A USB, I need a free 5.25 bay, but a lot of cases don't have any of them at all. Even full towers might only have one.

Could always get a 90° case (like the RV02-E), then all that Is at the top anyway.
Yo, 90° cases are trippy. Something about that one in particular feels so... wrong, and yet it might actually solve all of my problems. https://static.techspot.com/articles-info/1077/images/Image_28S.jpg
Would be great for my motorized sit stand desk. RIP caselabs, now it's a relic.
My favorite case is the one I own. The Meshify C. http://www.fractal-design.com/media/d4882c21-9b95-4571-a219-447ada8f84d0 Lovely. Highly recommended.
Mine lives in a sad little cubby without a fancy side panel. https://s.gvid.me/s/2018/08/23/sadlittleboi.jpg
Now if I were to acquire a 1060 or rx 570, would my housefire PSU named raidmax cobra power 600w be enough? It has some terrible efficiency, where 600w is like not even possible to reach, and i use i7 processor rn
