This really isn't true, most of EVGA's best units tend to be superflowers that are better than the competing Seasonic unit for the price range, hell some are even seasonics. Some are also terrible, just as there are Seasonic units I wouldn't buy, though those are rare same as superflower units.
With the new RTX cards coming out can I get away with only upgrading the gpu + monitor on my system? Don't have the budget to fork out for a whole new system, thinking either a 1070ti or a 20xx depending on prices here. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/579/1d4efe1a-2078-4ca9-be4c-9abfbface71b/Specs.PNG
Is my Xeon E3-1230V3 holding back my GTX 980 Ti in Final Fantasy 15?
Big time
Okay so what’s my upgrade path that will fit in my MicroATX case and doesn’t require me moving to Windows 7? I don’t mind getting a new motherboard and RAM, but I’m not willing to endure 10 on my main desktop. I deal with it on my GPD Win 2, on my boyfriends laptop, and at work. (Or should I just go with LTSB?)
https://www.anandtech.com/show/11182/how-to-get-ryzen-working-on-windows-7-x64 Outside of something like this you're sort of at a dead end. Anything else is more like a bandaid than an upgrade.
It's worth mentioning, what with Valve's Proton being a thing (GitHub), you might finally be able to ditch Windows entirely for gaming. Pick a Linux distro, set up Proton, and start playing. Many games perform almost identically to Windows now, and even the ones that don't yet are either already being worked on, or can be suggested in their discussion channels. Major APIs like DX12 work through Vulkan with little overhead, it's kinda shocking.
Hey peeps. I wanted to ask what this PC would cost if you were to build it yourself new. This is all the info available: Gaming PC Mini  Case: Trendsonic  Motherboard: Asus H110M-K  PSU: 450WATT  CPU: Intel Core i3 7100 Soket 1151  Ram: Samsung 8GB DDR4 2400 MHZ  CPU Cooler: Deepcool Thera 21  HDD: 1TB 7200RPM  GPU: INNO3D GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
Oh man someones offering me a 1070ti for less than $230. That would be hilarious pairing it with an i3 8100
I can either pay about 560 USD for that one or 380 USD for this one: Cpu: Intel Core i3 2120 3.30 Ghz  Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz  Gpu: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256 Bit  Hdd: 1TB (Toshiba)  Mb: Asus TurboV (1155 Socket)  Psu: Aero Vx 600  I obviously prefer the cheaper one but would that i3 2120 be enough to run things like Fallout 4 and newer games on 1080p med?
I'm looking at Newegg's Netherlands part of the website and uh... EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 08G Is there a catch here I'm missing? Because even with the 2-3 business days shipping, it runs at 338.74 euros, over 100 euros cheaper than what I would pay if I got it domestically. I would get a 1060 but this is only 30 euros extra.
Either: 1) They're trying to clear out old stock to make way for new cards, or 2) Crypto-miners have fucked off on GPU purchases in anticipation of new card releases.
My current build looks like this: AMD Radeon R9 285 Intel i5-4670k CPU 3.40ghz MSI Z87-g43 8GB of ram Some old HDDs I'm considering upgrading as I've come on to some money, but I'm wondering how big my budget would have to be to make it worthwhile?
Could try and grab a used 4790k, some more ram, and a new CPU cooler to OC the new CPU - would probably add quite a few years on that front (depending on how much ddr3 costs right now). You can probably get a reasonably priced 1070 or 1080, both are pretty significant upgrades over a R9 285.
Looking for a budget/mid-range GPU to replace my GTX 770. Any suggestions?
Thanks, I realized I said upgrading but what I meant to say is I think I wanna build an entirely new PC from scratch, only really using the old chassi and all the side stuff like monitor, mouse and keyboard and all of that.
Import taxes?
Would my i7-4771 not slow a rx 580 down?
It's a (very heavy) modification of WINE so there isn't really any reason it wouldn't It even has OpenVR support
This might be a stupid question but will this RAM work with any DDR3 motherboard? Memory Ram upgrades for Lenovo ThinkStation S30 RDIMM Dr. Memory. I assume that any RAM is supported by any motherboard providing that the form factor is the same.
Do you guys think the 10 series card are going to get cheaper? I found a 1080 for 469.99 so I'm just wondering if it will stay like that till February.
RDIMM's require something with registered ecc support, so any workstation or server board. ECC Unbuffered however is supported on a majority AMD platforms and motherboards and any HEDT Intel platform like X58, X79, X99, ect. The S30 is probably far more useful in one piece as rdimms for DDR3 are worth a few dollars each and as a dirt cheap budget build works really well. I paid $299.99, shipped for a EVGA 1080 Gaming SC referb(B-Stock, whatever it is) with a 1 year warranty direct from EVGA. They go on sale new constantly for below $400, do not overpay and don't overpay for a super low end card.
Where would you find they're b-stock. On amazon?
I think the bottom will fall out near September 20, remember that most PC gamers don't give a fuck about actual quality or performance and will buy the newest shiniest stuff no matter what. So I wouldn't worry too much about people keeping the 10 series' prices high. Those of us with concerns about Turing are a vocal minority.
That also explains why 90% of people who buy AIO CLC's don't actually need them at all and would be much better served by an air cooler for 50% of the price
To be fair, I don't think I could do anything but an AIO where I live. Western Arkansas in the river valley is one of the most humid and hot places I've ever been. Plus, running an i5 2500k at 4.5 right now and that's basically a small toaster oven as is. Will be moving to a full custom loop hopefully with my next build just because I've never done it before and want to try it.
I fucking hate AiOs. But. BUUUUUT, on LGA2011, it's the easiest install ever, and gives me a ton of space over the board itself, whereas any other cooler would be HUGE and might not even let me fit my graphics card in the top slot.
...Wait, what? It's not like liquid cooling ignores ambient temperature or anything... CLCs don't let you break thermodynamics.
One way that a CLC can work is having lots of surface area where you can fit it. If you have a case where you can't fit a giant air cooler it could be better.
Not saying they do, but what it does do is allow a lot more air flow. I have two intake fans on the top of the case, and a push pull set up on my AIO. total of 6 fans moving air through it. I'm sitting at 42C right now. Comparatively, my room mate has a Cosmos II case with a push pull setup on a Hyper 212 Evo and about 6 case fans and sits around 55-60c at idle.
