PC Building V4 - "ok SSDs got cheap, now do RAM next"

If they're OC'd to the same frequency, they should perform identically. For 1st gen, I mean that X-chips are binned slightly better, so your chances are marginally higher of getting a higher overclock.
I'm saying if you're on X470/2nd Gen, you should just get the X-chip, since PBO/XFR2 will boost the cores as far as they normally could go (again, assuming cooling capacity) - and boost single cores even further when needed - something a standard OC can't do. If you spent a lot of time, and absolutely needed huge multi-core clocks (in which case get TR instead) then you can get better multi-core perf by manual OC. But 99% of people are better off letting the CPU handle OC'ing itself.
TEAM dark pro DDR4-3200 (c14) is currently a little better priced (Plus I think they're less ugly lol)

Other than that, no complaints really, great motherboard choice.
I'm looking for an 8 pin PCIE cable for an Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875w (https://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001572) , would any of these work?
Thermaltake modular connector (6 Pin,2x Pciex ,1x8pin ,1x6+2pin ..

8pin to 8+6pin Power Cable for Thermaltake/TT PSU and NVIDIA GeF..
Why are you doing SLI in current year?
cuz I'm a cheap fuck
The only reason you would need 800W is if you have two high end nVidia cards or two AMD space heaters.
Maybe i'll do that in the future
The only concern I had going with other ram is the whole Samsung B-Die thing, and how Ryzen prefers it.
Multiple GPU solutions are a terrible idea, it's literally not even worth considering
Problem is I can't exactly determine the quality from the shit website, so I only look for the stronger ones to avoid any possibility of the current situation (600W, but the +12V rail is like below 500W) and I need something that can actually deliver more than 500W
And is them 80plus things a meme or what
Pretty much avoid any raidmax, universally. As I said before. 80plus doesn't mean a whole lot, but being certified period does a bit. You really don't need anything over 500w, but this Seasonic would do well for something that's actually modular.
All TEAM 3200+ (esp cl14) should be using B-die.
Oh, good to know then! I'd personally never heard of the brand before , but I do prefer a black generic looking stick that a wacky gamerish ram, lol. Although the DH-15 would probably cover it completely.
TEAM used to be very well known "back in the day", fell off in the DDR4 days for whatever reason, and are back now.

Happy birthday to me
This motherboard is being really annoying. I'm looking at other B450 alternatives and I stumbled upon the MSI B450 Tomahawk
I checked the QVL for RAM, Devices etc... and I can't find my GPU on it. You reckon I'll run into issues?
GPUs don't really have any issues, you're fine. RAM QVL is the one that matters. Remind me to update the OP to clarify
ASUS customer support is tring to shift the blame on device QVL :,( thank god I bought it off amazon. I am this close to grabbing a replacement - though I just wish I didn't have to deal with all the downtime
Based on what I've heard, that 1070 is gonna last you for a good while.
Typical Asus. Despite how good their products are, I never ever recommend them, for this reason specifically. If you absolutely must, make sure you buy through Amazon, never Newegg
Its only freezing on coldboot?
What board? Try updating the BIOS if available.
In my experience Ryzen coldboot issues are usually RAM timing problems. And these hard to diagnose issues are why I heavily recommend boards with LED readouts.
I've found some compatible replacement RAM for a good price (and slightly higher clock - 3.2k) - you reckon I'm good to go? Should I look into an ASRock manufactured option maybe?
Looking for a new card for getting into VR (going to get a Rift soon); meh budget though, so I'm trying to stay as close to 300€ as possible. The 1060s seems to do the trick, and is listed under recommended rather than minimal. Sounds good.
I'm stuck between a MSI GeForce GTX 1060 AERO ITX 6G , a MSI GeForce® GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OCV1 and the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB.
Between those first two I guess I could decide by the later having two fans instead of one, which sounds like a good thing. But between the GeForce and the Sapphire? I'm dead.
I know it's your usual NVIDIA vs AMD battle and I doubt there's any critical factor towards picking one or the other (one is sliiightly cheaper and has 2GB more... the other consumes less...), but rather than leaving it to a coin flipping I wanted to ask here just in case someone has any opinions in particular.
I love debug LEDs. My board, the ASRock X470 Gaming K4, is the cheapest X470 board that includes one. Recommended, although in my setup it spins up fans to max twice while posting. Still not certain if that's intended behavior.
My specific intentions are:
Smoother VR gaming
Streaming with higher settings
CUDA for the Adobe suite
Speaking as someone who used an RX 570 for VR since I bought my Rift two months ago, it's still perfectly usable... If you're immune to stutter-sickness like I seemingly am.
Many, many people suffer from sensitivity to graphical stutter in VR, to the point of severe instances educing nausea or vomiting. A better GPU WILL make VR more playable for these people.
wazno on eBay
Does anyone have any experience with this ebay seller? I've been looking to get a GTX 1060 6gb and this shop has them as cheap as I ever seen, the price seems a bit too good to be true but the ratings are super high overall on their stroefront, not sure what to make of them.
I don't have much of a problem with refurbs cause the card I have current was used and has lasted me a long loooong time, way longer than the used mobo I had. but this price just seems a bit sketchy to me cause I've never seen even refurbs go this low.
should I get the more expensive bare drive or rip the one out of the cheaper external drive? I checked a teardown video and the portable one does have standard sata ports inside

external drive - STDR2000100
bare drive - ST2000LM015
Thanks to you both! I'll try my best at getting a 1070 if I can. I've seen two guys in a second-hand app selling it for a kinda good price without too much wear, if I can grab it from them...
I also overlooked the CPU until now so HEY HO another 150€ to the sea!!! I'll see what I can sell around here. (I'm aiming for a i5-7400, from what I've read it should be fine to avoid most bottlenecking...)
This son of a bitch better last decades without a single light blinking!
New 1070 got 13k in Firestrike and 27k in Skydiver, 70+fps in Superposition high and ~30 in extreme. Might not be stand-out scores overall, but that Firestrike one is like double my RX570's.
Also, with how much people were talking about the FE cooler being super loud... It's noticeably quieter than the reference 570, my AC totally drowns it out. Better cards must be dead-silent.
How hot does the GTX 970 get? I might consider going for an used 970/1060 (not too worried about temps with that one) instead of a 1050 Ti/2050 for that build im planning at the end of the year, my room on summer gets pretty hot (my laptop suffers the most) so im kinda worried it'll hit high temps like 80 or something
