Why the hell is Nvidia selling it for so much? The 1080 Ti was $700, going up to $1000, $1200 for the Founder's Edition would be a crazy move even if there wasn't about to be a massive glut of last-gen parts hitting the used market as the cryptocoin market implodes. Why spend a grand on a 2080Ti when you could spend $500 and get dual 1080Tis? All that AI and raytracing crap doesn't matter much yet, needs wide game support to be useful. And if you subtract that, a 2080Ti looks to be about 30% faster, hardly worth such a premium.
Because they can get away with it.
It's that simple.
I'd look into the math and compare power usage, assuming the server is going to be on 24/7
Even spending more on rolling your own lower power system, it's definitely going to cost less over time
The question is, are you saving that money over 2 years or 20 years? It's entirely possible that the cheaper high power system is a better deal for the time span you plan to use it
Market share disagrees. Nvidia is going to have the graphics market on fucking lockdown.
AMD is very likely not even going to try until 7nm, and by then Nvidia is going to have a more mature library to exploit RTX with, and probably some serious gains themselves on 7nm.
Will they actually get away with it, though? I only expect the glut of used cards to get worse, as more and more miners either give up entirely, or switch to ASICs. Nvidia is well-positioned to fight AMD. They are not well-positioned to fight their own last-gen product, not unless AI and/or raytracing acceleration becomes a must-have feature, which it won't because of the sheer mass of installed systems without it (esp. including consoles).
Basically, I'm expecting Nvidia to either have to slash prices to below 10-series MSRP, or sell extremely low volumes of halo product for this generation.
Didn't they have to take back a shitload of 10 series chips too? They're going to have to do something with them eventually.
Fix your shit keyboard.
Google Keyboard has the exact same "problem".
Works perfectly fine on stock keyboard and the third-party one I'm running. Problem is on your end buddy.
Tell that to my 3 Pixel phones and my OnePlus One.
your keyboard is actually the one acting improperly for mobile devices tbh
my understanding is that when you've just got the quote box and hit backspace, it no longer considers it a text field, so it closes the keyboard, unfortunately without sending the "please remove the quote box"
I'm using the stock Android keyboard. Either you're lying or on some weird/out-of-date version of Android that works with it for some reason. I'm pretty sure it doesn't even matter what keyboard app you use; the keyboard just goes away when you try to backspace to delete quotes. What lordcrypto said is how it behaves for almost everyone on mobile. Also does this for emoticons.
Is the Android AOSP Keyboard stock enough for you?
Currently using Gboard. I cannot delete text boxes and I have never been able to, even after reinstall.
Mobile editor sucks uber hard on iPhone.
A keyboard being able to hand a really shoddy implementation doesn't make it legendary

thanks eBay for letting me find stupid cheap server components
when i tried to transfer all the files from a computer that wouldn't boot, i got most of what i needed but it kept saying something about an IO error, that most likely means the drive itself is fucked and it's not just a file preventing it from booting right?
Someone had asked about bulk cells. Alarmhookup is back in stock with big lots of tested cells:

Got a new job as L1 technician at a small offsourcing company. There were no sysadmin positions available in my area locally so I took what I could.
Was there for the first day and I'm happy with it. Turns out I prefer a small company over large corporate firms with a ton of people.
<Flak>30 oh my god
<Flak> I went and finished up paperwork for a job
<Flak> got the job
<Flak> and then 30 minutes later got a call from a different place offering me $15/hr for basically the same job
<Flak> I have an interview tomorrow
<Flak> Why am I suddenly desirable
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ding ding.
0 applications, 2 phone interview, 2 face-to-face interviews.
I was expecting graduate job hunt to be.... a lot harder.
The job market here in Denver is crazy for IT, I had 15 interviews in my first 8 business days when I moved here, had 2 offers by the end of that 8th day too.
now I just have to find accommodation within the Canary Wharf area. Why is everything so expensive.
Because it's Canary Wharf, isn't that basically where all the rich working-age banker wankers in London are?
That link only shows me that they are selling cell holder/spacers.
Looks like I should buy some actually.. I have taken apart a few laptop batteries and powerbanks, the current storage method is either in the charger, LED headlamp or around the desk/drawer.
Yeah looks like they don't ship batteries to a shitload of countries, probably a view setting.
That is a search for them showing rechargeable batteries on their account. It could be that they don't ship to you.
