Also, Comcast has come to my door, during dinner, 3 times in the last few weeks. They're really pushing me to upgrade to a new plan. I've seen more Google fiber trucks driving around, so I suspect something is up.
I mean sure but I think it's that I could theoretically blow through my entire cap in less than 2 and a half hours. Oh well all I need to do is pony up $50/mo more.
we have 7 people with Comcast the 1tb idea lasted about a month until I was like "yo landlord, if we split the unlimited plan per person, will you upgrade the houses plan to that" (internet/utilities included in our rent)
I checked our data usage per person for last month. I used 750 GB of our old 1TB cap by myself, and I was working a lot of OT then. I told my roommates I increased it to unlimited and to still pay me the same because it's my fault we're so high We use YouTube TV, Netflix, and Hulu for all of our media consumption.
I'm 24 years old and still have no idea how multimeters work, or really how electricity at all works.
I got a bunch of arduino stuff coming. Going to finally learn about that stuff. Going to use it to log current and maybe voltages on a test circuit so I can in the future track power usage of AC appliances like my room's AC or fridges and log it to a graph. (I'll be using a current transformer, don't worry) Did find out that my room AC does indeed pull 588 watts when running, but it doesn't run constantly. Maybe half the time but I need to actually verify that to see if it will run off my big battery. Lots of cool ideas come to mind with this sort of starting point.
I know he makes a shitton of money but this was difficult to watch, plus no one has posted a Linus Tech Gore video in a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4O_Dq3xRJA
You want to post a video of Linus doing dumb shit and you post that instead of the currently latest video where they go sub-ambient on a Threadripper 2 system with no insulation?
And almost kill it.

I can't even update, the button does nothing (my guess - i am still running 6.0). Luckily, 5 years is a pretty long time. I might have bought a new phone by then.
I keep my Linus to a minimum, you know, for my mental health.
Anybody have any ideas for what could cause my function keys to change and how to fix it? All of them seem to have changed from affecting things like my brightness and volume to shortcuts in my browser (ex. F3 used to raise brightness, now it opens Find in Page on Chrome; F12 used to switch to Airplane Mode, now it enters the Chrome console or whatever it's called). The only one that remained the same is F1 for opening a help menu, but it doesn't even open Windows help anymore, just help on Chrome.
"This video was really painful to watch, here let me share it."
Yo Cresty, this is still the CIPWTTKT thread! Tech gore is meant to be shared.
Tech Gore from necessity I think is good to share.
Such a prude you've become. :\
Apparently I watch youtube as much as a full-time job + overtime: https://s.gvid.me/s/2018/08/30/ytwatchtime.png

Got an arduino today with one of those massive starter kits. Really cool to mess with. I wanted to make a logging tool to track current usage over time to see how much power in 24 hours my AC system uses. Tested it on a heatgun and calibrated it. The low end is noisy, but that's not important to me. The AC unit uses the same exact wattage like 98% of the time, just need to test how long it's running total. https://i.imgur.com/e7WU2cy.png
God why is the Surface Book 2 with everything as high as it goes $3,299. I want it but why

I just finished doing a shell swap on a PSP because the original one was busted to hell with extreme scratches and cracked plastic everywhere like someone used it as a frisbee. The custom shell kit I got didn't came with all replacement screws and the plastic wasn't molded properly, so it's bulging out and the UMD drive has non-functional doors that I'll probably end up taping up (the umd drive was dead anyway) Glad that it works at least because the reassembly was a nightmare due of the ribbon cables being brittle after age and not fitting into the connectors properly. Also christ what the hell is this http://i.heykidwannayiff.com/5b6597.mp4
I get that emoji board pop up on my lock screen sometimes randomly
👎 The worst part is that browsers use emoji from your OS. Microsoft's emoji are completely garbage, especially the thinking face. 🤔

I want to shitpost about things happening at work and the stupid shit some customers do but I can't because I signed an NDA for 30k Eur NDAs suck. Also does anybody know the name of the screwdriver kit from the old ifixit essentials toolkit? The old screwdriver kit is basically an OEM rebrand. Co-worker had it today and had the same color of the screwdriver, only the plastic shell was gray. He said he had it from ebay but he doesn't remember the name.
Are there any smart TVs out there that don't have ads on them? I'm trying to find one but even the expensive ones seem to have commercials slapped on the home screen, and I would prefer to send my money to a company that isn't evil.
My Samsung is pretty good about keeping the UI to just what it needs, but it also has a possible grounding issue on one of the inputs that I'm currently in the middle of troubleshooting. Manufactured less than a year ago and it already needs service.
Doing any deep-packet inspection? Also how well is pfSense threaded, does it pretty much just scale perf with cores linearly (assuming infinite bandwidth). Also, why not OPNSense?
I actually bought a Samsung about a month ago and returned it for being too shit. It constantly lost network connectivity while powered off, and when it did the only way to fix it was unplugging it and plugging it back in. Doing so would wipe my media server from the home screen. And the list of domains I had to block at the router level was insane (I tested, the network problems persisted even without DNS filtering). And the UI was slow as balls. And it barely fit on the bookshelf I use as a TV stand.
