One update:

There is an Elgato in Sound Video controllers.
I'm not getting any signal on the passthrough (and I did check that the signal is live on the input on the same monitor)
i'm still using f.lux, works fine with just a zipcode
i'd like to say that maybe that's all ms is really grabbing for nightlight but c'mon now is anyone still that naive anymore
For this and other reasons I straight up skipped Windows on my University notebook. Microsoft was causing me waaaay too many headaches for it to be worth it.
I'm putting Windows 10 LTSB on my boyfriend's computer for exactly that reason. I can't trust Microsoft to not shit the bed on a random update that adds all the predatory bullshit back, and he's not a power user, so let's just use LTSB and it'll be clean as can be.
If you install LTSB do you need to acquire a ~special key~, or will a Pro key or something else work?
You need a special key. You can find them on eBay for <$10.
The card is showing up as unknown?
In any case, if you're not seeing a passthrough that's not a good sign. It should typically pass through a single simply by being powered.
I'd only be able to say send us an email: http://e.lga.to/help and if you want you can give me the case number for it and I can check its progress.
Solved it!
In addition to the older version of Game Capture HD *and* the 3.2 new firmware patch, you also need to download the "Last Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro Driver for Windows 7 and 8" in and install that *after* the Game Capture HD software is installed. If you install Game Capture HD second, it overwrites these good drivers with its bad drivers.
Thanks for trying to help me through this. Now I seem to have good capture and good passthrough! Sorry I made you do your job, probably off hours.

Odd, you shouldn't *need* to do that, but makes sense.
Also I'm basically never off-hours lol. I do 95% of social media support, so this falls under my responsibilities too probably.
You get paid in ~coins~!
I should ask corsair to pay me in Facebook coins.
i mean its a half hour drift between seattle and san diego sunset right now, so that doesn't work so well
ugh, all this complaining about Windows reminds me how much cleaner the UI was in 7. Of course, I bought the literal flagship Windows 10 device. Wish I could do more than a 7 VM on my Surface.
Seriously thiugh when Ryzen 3000 comes out y’all gotta show me how to make 7 run on it.
I hate to be that guy, but so far I have zero complaints with Windows 10 Pro.
Is there a mouse that has 2 USB cables coming out of it with a toggle switch on the body that swaps between the two being the active connection?
If that doesn't exist I should invent it
It's better than your only other option, "set a time that it activates every single day"
Enjoy your 5lbs of wire drag.
Not if you use spindly unshielded pieces of shit. When my mouse cable brushes against my AC adapter it'll disconnect, but for the other 93% of the time my very specific use case will be highly satisfied.
I just want Corsair to make a good ambidextrous or even left handed mouse so I can ditch my last piece of Razer gear. This lancehead is basically perfect, just the right amount of buttons. The only offering they had that was close only has buttons on the left side, and I'd really like some under my thumb since I'm left handed.
Windows 10 Pro is great.
But there are still things about 10 in general that irritate the fuck out of me.
I'm waiting until SteamPlay is more supported and Proton really takes off then I might take the leap and go Linux only for a year.
I'm also still waiting for some games to get better native Linux support vs wrapping it.
🤷♂️
Oh look. I just found a reason to expand and rant on one of the things that irritates the fuck out of me.
Windows update.
Silently updating sapping away performance for no reason, no questions, no notifications, even says that the last updates were checked a few hours earlier and that my Windows was the "latest".
Clearly it wasn't because I hit Check for updates and now it's downloading a few updates which it had already begun minutes before.
Microsoft probably won't listen but I'd love it if it did a toast notification that updates were available,(like it did back in XP, Vista and 7 WOW!) or at least that it started doing an update.
It also won't update if there's less than 10GB left on the system drive and because I put my most used games that require heavy I/O(like Tarkov and League and my most frequent programs that aren't games) most of the time it's sitting at maybe 10-15GB free so most of the time I don't get updates because of that.

Went on a nostalgia rush and bought this BNIB bad boy.

Not sure how I will run a Windows 95 game well on Windows 10, but here's to hoping... and if not, here's to VMs.

These RTX cards' pricing are absolute utterly insane, and I cannot convince my boyfriend to just get a GTX 1080 Ti for half the price.
Yeah, I've noticed this on my unactivated Windows install.
Any pre-installed crapware you uninstall comes right back every reboot.
Probably gotta delete their folders. I bet they'll return after an update though.
