Haha good joke in Windows 10, it's disabled by default and turns itself off after every fucking update. You better remember to turn it on or hope that you'll never need it.
Cognex Cameras and software is worth the $3k the charge for it all holy shit this stuff is fantastic.
Maybe it's only screwed on my system then, I've no idea why.
I've had Steam forget games exist on an unexpected power down. Have you checked the the files are still on the disk? If so, try installing the game and it should discover all the existing files, do a verify, and then only download files that are missing or damaged.
I'd imagine so. After firing that other fucking idiot, they'll need more hours from you.
Real talk? I still love how Windows Vista looked. Even though Win7 also used Aero and brought quite a few excellent usability improvements, I still prefer the "flavor" that Vista was going for with it. To this day it's still the prettiest Windows in my eyes.

Look at this gorgeous sucker. Aero in all its glory, with the dark taskbar and Start Menu, the Windows orb, the teal-and-yellow "Aurora" theme. Had we been able to get something that looked more like this with all of Win7's improvements to its functionality, I'd have been thrilled.
The Vista/7 Aesthetic can still work, but rounded corners are out.
Vista had a very interesting sharp line contrast that I enjoyed. It was like I didn't need glasses.
Yes and no. I adore the Aero smoked glass aesthetic, but man those gradients/fake gloss on all the UI elements and icons has aged awfully. Get rid of those and Vista would look superb.
I wanted to turn that shit off because I did think that the glass effect was awful. But I needed it on for coloured task bars to suit my wallpapers.
I still preferred the XP look
Windows 8 was my favorite Windows, visually.
what the hell is wrong with you
No, I can see his point, especially as Win10 moves further and further into Fluent, Metro is becoming pretty exclusively the Win8 look. And I always liked what they were trying to do with Metro, but then again I'm the guy who admires the designs behind road signage. Love that infographic look.
Honestly, I always wished Microsoft would just remake all the old themes in the new rendering system and let people pick and choose. I've seen them like how I see Nintendo consoles: every version of Windows has had its own visual identity and just because the underlying technology has become obsolete doesn't mean the style has to fade into the past with it.
Metro for me will always be the Zune HD and Windows Phone 7 era

I loved the strong focus on typography and the unique app navigation. Kind of a shame they pivoted (heh) away from it.
But I also rather like Windows 10's Fluent design language too - I just wish it wasn't so damn inconsistently applied.

Good news is that when you're in scenes where RTX isn't really being used, 60FPS at 1080 is actually attainable... on a GTX 2080 Ti. Run it at 4K for the ultimate cinematic experience I guess.
I don't know what nvidia was thinking, we're still atleast 10 years off before we can have resonable framerate with raytracing, it feels like they just HAD to shove something out there to compete with AMD, and so far it's been a complete disaster.
My next rig being 100% AMD is looking more and more reasonable every day now
I'm still waiting for another proper AMD card because NVidia refuses to support Freesync and I'm not going to gimp my own setup because they can't take their legs out of their asses.
I'm sure they've already done all the obvious optimizations like that. The problem is, you still need to trace millions of rays per frame if you want to avoid unusable noisy results. The hardware raytracing cores just don't have enough throughput to do much meaningful work at high framerates with them yet.
At this point, the RT cores seem like a much more appealing feature for professional visualization tools where you don't necessarily need interactive framerates and you can easily wait a second or two for your image to render out in high quality. As for high-end gaming, especially now that we're moving towards 4k resolution being the new standard, it's still got a long way to go.

Solid deals on AMD GPUs in the UK. Vega 56 for £300 is p damn great, £400 for the 64.
Here's where we find out just how many times AMD can just refresh Polaris
The GPU market desperately needs a Ryzen style shakeup, and I partially blame crypto for probably slowing down R&D

"Full" 40 CU chip? That's a one-off custom design that they can't directly port over. It was obvious to me from the start that this was gonna be just a quick, easy to implement stopgap product until they can come up with something better. They did pretty much the same thing as with Zen -> Zen+, it's the exact same same design, just manufactured on GF 12nm instead of 14nm. Which gives them a slightly better voltage/frequency curve and some more space for higher clocks.
The biggest disappointment here is that it's considerably more expensive than the 580 and doesn't come with faster memory. I've seen a review where they overclocked the memory from 8 to 9GT/s and it made for a pretty big difference in performance.

Alright, it's not the GPU the question is, is it the monitor or the cable at this point?
Only particularly useful if you have super interactive / dynamic scenes. Otherwise, it's easier to just bake GI, and it's the industry standard currently.
Fuck charms

oh heck, this has been happening to me too and I think you have the same monitor as I do...
If it's not the cable I'm contacting Samsung, will update you in that case.
Yeah, it doesn't seem to be affected by cable/input. It happens with HDMI sometimes too.
There's also times where a resolution switch will just cause the monitor to entirely die.
I need recommendation for the most cheapest way of having a camera system to monitor around my house.
Right as I got home from work, I caught someone breaking into my neighbour's house with a proper toolbox and everything.
I'm thinking about cheap IP cameras from aliexpress using PoE and hidden NAS or server somewhere in the house locked in a closet where the recordings will be continuously saved/serving as an NVR
Proud owner of a beautiful pink Mikrotik MTCNA Certification. I could even print it out for myself and frame it if I really want.
Passed it with a shameful 69%, probably failed some dumb things. Not that there is much of interest there anyways, dicking around Winbox for answers worked well enough.
I don't know what to do with all that knowledge now!
