I went in expecting a huge scam, but price to part is insane, including the shipping mishap.
ECC is confirmed working on Ryzen, for what it's worth. But I can understand if you want the fine-print guarantee.
More or less yea. I want to
I have to publicly shame my friend after seeing in the state his computer is. He complained about his GPU not working, so I gave him very specific instructions how to take the PC apart and guided him through the whole process, and died internally after he sent me the picture of the GPU. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/209432/cf281fcc-4b7c-4636-87fb-a083b25dbcde/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/209432/86bbd2d6-5664-47b8-8bca-6a5eec034c32/image.png Fucking christ on a tricycle.
Apparently the google drive sync application really doesn't like syncing more than a couple hundred thousand files. Left it sitting on my Win10 reinstall on my laptop and after two days it had only synced 10,000 or so. So I decided to just grab the drive from my other laptop and copy over the files manually. Turns out my USB3 SATA adapter might not be USB3. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/170872/854689be-49b9-434e-a2e6-7295f673ecd3/image.png
I've had experience with GDrive and OneDrive apps for syncing stuff, and found them both to be garbo. Only reason why I have OneDrive is because it supports WebDAV and Windows supports it natively, so I can map it as a regular network drive without having to deal with some buggy client.
I like GDrive because $10 for a TB of storage is a pretty darn good rate and it's been 90% painless the past few years. But this is the first time I've had to download my entire 150GB drive folder and I'm starting to see the cracks in their program.
Just rsync it
Just got a new SSD, what's the "best" way to clone my current one to it because I'm lazy and don't want to deal with reinstalling programs
I'm basically doing that. There's no rsync for Windows, so I just have Onedrive mounted as a network drive and using Create Synchronicity to periodically upload files to Onedrive. It's slow as shit but it does the job Also this has just given me an idea. Since I have O365 Family for $10 a month which includes 1TB of onedrive storage for each account in the plan, I technically have 6TB of onedrive storage available to me. Nobody in my family really uses onedrive, so I could just ask for app password to use. I use VEEAM to backup family computers to my home server, so I might actually be able to set up davfs2 to mount each family member's onedrive acc and upload their computer backups to the cloud via rsync?
Meant rclone :/ Basically rsync for cloud. Since it's in golang, it's also for Windows
ordered one of them fancy 1440p g-sync 165hz monitors on black friday. I currently have an ancient ultrasharp (1920x1200@60) Will there be any issues if I dual monitor them? I've heard windows doesn't like when two monitors have different refresh rates. and how does watching 24/30/60 video work on a 144hz(165oc) display? wouldn't there be stuttering?
Clonezilla Live
I can't help you with Windows 10, but video works fine on my 144hz 1440p dell. 24fps videos look as terrible as always.
Windows 10 is fine with my 1440p and 1080p setup.
I hope you don't regularly turn your monitors off while leaving your computer on, because displayport doesn't keep itself connected with no power If you turn a DP monitor off it's like it doesn't exist to windows, so you'll have lots of fun figuring out what windows go where every time Windows helpfully dumps them all on your second monitor without attempting to put them back after
I too am a victim of this. There's literally nothing you can do except download some hacky thing that "tries to remember" where the windows previously were but has consistently failed for me. So I just accepted my fate, and use the dynamic contrast mode that's utter shit and leave a media player player on the first seconds of an episode when it's full dark, as the screen thinks "I can enhance this by DISABLING the backlight for more accurate blacks!" so effectively, it's off while being on. tl;dr - I hate DP.
I turned off deep sleep on my monitor, when I "turn it off" it just goes to a standby mode. All the electronics are on, but the backlight and screen is unpowered. Keeps displayport from dying. That's a really annoying aspect of DP, I'm just glad my monitor has a workaround for it built in so I don't have to do what Bugga did.
Thankfully most displays in Standby are like 1watt
will I be able to do ULMB 120hz on the desktop and 144hz g-sync in games without manually changing settings every time?
You can use Smooth Video Project if you'd like less jerky videos. It'll sync up with your monitors refresh rate.
it'll take some fiddling to set up first time, but once it works, it works forever
I just cloned my small SSD over my 1TB Samsung hard drive instead of my 1TB Samsung solid state drive Fuck
This is why I usually unplug any drive I'm not cloning to or from when I clone drives. Or do OS installs. It's worth it to prevent little mistakes like that.
I've had good luck so far binding hotkeys for DisplayFusion's save and restore window position functions Plus I found if I switch to an unused input the monitor will naturally go to sleep by itself without fucking up immediately (only on waking it up for some reason, go figure)
Look at that, cloned it properly this time https://i.imgur.com/tHO0i7u.png
SSD (I:) not being named "Senary" is disappointing.
Well it's replacing C: that was just me checking it copied everything.
never had this problem https://youtu.be/t5rvfHoSdRQ holy fuck the youtube app doesn't even implement the android camera API properly on flagship google phones. https://medium.com/@kenodoggy/solving-image-rotation-on-android-using-camera2-api-7b3ed3518ab6 Camera2 Api, I have this problem on an unmainted camera app, we know the fix but no one gives a shit
All of those drives made me remember that it's time for a friendly reminder that this baby is still going, despite all the alerts. https://i.imgur.com/GDYVpbG.png
