I've got almost all the whatsapp users I know irl to switch over to Telegram finally. Getting closer.
Time for my monthly comcast tech visit for no reason. Can't wait for them to tell me my new modem is also broken, and not their network.
what the fuck lavacano when did you come back
we obviously need to make a new unified standard that does all everythin the others do 😏
The posts from yesterday made me curious how stuff works in my company security wise and did a little bit of digging around. ...I think I need to get liability insurance so I don't sink with the ship when the time comes. Also anyone knows where I could find some proper learning materials for general infosec stuff for sysadmins and network admins? Also some Mikrotik basics learning material as a bonus, because so far anything I stumbled upon always uses quick set, which always messes up stuff and I end up resetting it.
When did Mikrotik get so popular? Also going to start MTCNA training tomorrow, let's see how that goes.
I mean where else can I get a 36c edge router with 16gb RAM for less than a grand?
like a bad rash, i just keep flaring up
So he said it was the cable tap. Which I was told was bad like 2 years ago. Then another tech said taps don't go bad, the other tech was lying. But this time the business tech confirmed everything like 5 times with me. Gave me a ticket number and everything that I can call out.
The other day on Comcast support (home) I said I was a network engineer and then support sent me a copy paste of their successful ping results followed by "that means you're getting full speeds"
119 days since no Level3 uplink https://s.gvid.me/s/2018/10/11/119days.png send help pls
I still seriously can't believe Telegram is running, it was always a stupid Russian meme. It was marketed as secure while their chats don't even use E2E, and the whole protocol was just sketchy as fuck.
i don't know of a single telegram user who actually uses it for secure messaging i don't know what the ruskies want with intercepted shitposting and furry yiffing but they can have it tbh
It's been the router platform for small ISPs for over a decade. They've just started making some really nice stuff for home / small office lately that's been catching on, because where else can you buy an 802.3af PoE AP for $20 or a router that can do 400Mbps IPSEC for $50? The hardware is by far the most flexible out there, there's a form factor for every possible situation, the supported voltage range is wide and there's good support for things like USB-Serial adapters and LTE dongles. Coming from a Cisco school, the Mikrotik CLI was a bit weird but it didn't take long to get comfortable with it, having the GUI mirror the layout of the CLI helped a lot.
Matrix.org lmao
Telegram as a company is able to break mtProto at will.
Which is all that matters at the end of the day. Might be my nationality but I don't trust them to not fuck with it, if they feel the need to do so.
I wish Signal and Wire were more popular
Comcast just replaced the tap at 10:45pm. They didn't lie about ~4hour turn around. Signal instantly was the best I've ever seen in my time with them. ~40dB vs 60dB. https://imgur.com/a/ceY882P
Today it has resurrected itself. Literally left it unplugged for a full day, plugged it back in and hey presto it just works. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/255584114126618624/500181856587743232/image0.jpg
It still looks broken to me, a perfectly working TV shouldn't be showing anime.

I'm personally hoping for DeltaChat to become the go-to. The Android client is good, and it uses email for the messaging so you can just use Thunderbird etc. to use it on a computer. Took a bit of thinking to configure Thunderbird to handle it seamlessly, but it's not that bad. And someone could just write a PC client.
