Yup, I literally just ordered one of their AMP 1060s earlier today, came out to $150 shipped (just checked and they're out of stock now https://store.zotac.com/zotac-geforcer-gtx-1060-amp-edition-zt-p10600b-10m-1459). Never bought factory refurb parts before so we'll see how it goes. Will be a nice upgrade over the 1050ti I have right now.
My friend is putting together a new PC and I threw this build together for him to consider, any good tweaks to be made? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/IrishBandit/saved/3MPGGX
What's with the trash-tier RAM?
Yea, RAM has always been a place where I dunno really what I'm doing, I've swapped it out for this RAM: https://smile.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B06XRFNWHK/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_lp_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=QCP6T3EA1BMQ8VQZ4ZC6&th=1
Optane worth it? WAs thinking of using one of my m.2 slots for optane and nvme for the second m.2 slot
Does anyone have this monitor? Is it any good? https://www.amazon.com/1080p-Gaming-LED-Lit-Monitor-VG278Q/dp/B00B2HH7G0?th=1
I've had this for a few years now and haven't had any issues with it. I don't pay attention much to color accuracy so I can't say anything about that. But it is what it aims to be. A good 1080p 144hz monitor.
Love my 248 dearly. Once you go 144 you can never go back. Supposedly the color isn't great compared to more "modern" TN screens but with some screen adjustments it looks just fine to me.
this is my current monitor: Acer P221W LCD monitor Specs
I generally recommend non-RGB ram for both price and RGB controller issue reasons. But yeah, otherwise fine RAM.
Is it a 1070ti specifically or some performance equivalent? There's Vega 56s right now going way cheaper than you'll get a 1070ti for. The 56 performs ever so slightly worse, but you'll find right now it costing between £60 and £100 less. Also freesync. Also not Nvidia.
It's worth it over the 580? Where'd you get it?
I mean there's a performance boost of over 50% between them and a difference of £150 so they're hardly in the same league? I got it from OCers but it looks like the deal is over, idk if you're OK going up another £40. But do bear in mind it'll come with Resi 2 HD, DMC5 and Division 2. Which saved me £80 odd quid since I intended on buying the former 2 anyway.
is there a big difference between the logitech g402 vs the 502? the 502 is about twice as much
The ASUS ROG Strix variant is still in stock for £359.99 - I've no idea if I should cancel my order for the Nitro 580 (which is no longer availabke at £181. 99) and get it while I can. I'm after something that I won't have to replace for at least a few years and manage on high setting 1080p, got a 75hz IPS freesync to go with it too. My first two cards (560 and 770) were ASUS so I have no alternate experience beyone that. A friend suggested I get the 580 but again I'm still torn.
The 580 sounds like the lowest you can go but the Vega 56 sounds mad overkill then. It's nearly £200 more too, I'd stick with your decision if money is an object.

The 580 will be fine then, paired with an equivalent CPU. Vega is overkill for 1080p in most games.
i'm mainly just looking for a card around for around £400~ that'll last me as long as possible. freesync doesn't matter that much to me since i'm not gonna be getting new monitors any time soon. the vega 56 does look fairly solid, but i'm more worried about performance than price. i looked at the offers on OCers and saw they've got Vega 64s going for £410, is this worth it? (it does come with resi 2/dmc5, which i want to play)
scan has a powercolor vega64 thats clocked higher for less money but if you go with the asus ebuyer doesnt have a very good reputation id pay the extra tenner and get it from ocuk https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-powercolor-radeon-rx-vega-64-red-devil-14nm-4096-streams-1417mhz-1607mhz-boost-945mhz-hbm2-dp-hd
not a big difference though but g 502 has more dpi.
Ebuyer usually use Yodel as their courier over here, and Yodel are actually the fucking worst. Dealing with them for personal deliveries is bad, they said they came 3 times but nobody answers, all 3 times my family were in and we have CCTV so know nobody came. Yodel also once pulled the same thing on a delivery for work, they said nobody was in to collect their package, in a 12 floor office building with a reception during business hours. I would tank the extra tenner just to not have to deal with them.
Oh trust me, I worked at a depot of a courier service. You wouldn't believe how we handled those goods. I doubt that any of the more complicated stuff was left undamaged. I know now why Bex (the said company) is considered the worst, but I doubt others anywhere are much better. Though I did see weird shit get sent. Like a truckload of hay, tons of dog food and out of all things, a rusted out car hood i had to be real careful to carry to not cut my hands up
I highly recommend the G602 wireless mouse. It's wireless yeah but the stigma that they are worse has been unfounded in my eyes. Shit performs great for me and there's no latency and batteries last a long time.
This is probably one of the most widely used/known 144hz monitors I had to download a color profile for mine - the colors aren't that great by default, btu there is an embarassing amount of resources online both to tweak it to your liking and for setting it up I love mine. Absolute QoL updgrade, once you go 144hz you never go back.
I'm beginning to wish that computing shops (and physical stores that sell anything apart from groceries) were an actual thing, dealing with courier companies is tiring even if you're sending the package to the front desk at work. All we have here is CEX if for some reason we want overpriced used parts, and I'm sure all sorts of physical stores exist, but nothing is ever priced to compete with even the more expensive online shops like Ebuyer or Amazon.
i dont have anything against wireless but i chose the 502 because i didnt want to pay too much anyone know if the sensor has acceleration? in bf5 it feels different between looking around slowly and flicking, i probably just need to get used to it
With all the talk about monitors and Nvidia cards, thought this might be really helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPtFfTIoTuI This drove me absolutely insane after switching to my GTX1080, I think it's still somehow defaulting to limited when I boot and refreshing to full when the driver mode resets into a full screen game but for me this caused a massive improvement on all of my monitors. If you're using DVI however, this doesn't apply.
So I'm looking for a new monitor. Things I'm looking for are Frameless (or nearly, I just want small enough bezels) 1080p Black No gaudy "GaMeR" bullshit decor 60hz 24" or above Any recommendations? My max would maybe be $200 but idk if that's not enough.
Mid 70 with 80 peak good temp for 9700k OC at 5.1?
