Got my tower all sorted, the be quiet dark base 900 and this might seem like a silly question, when i'm gaming or whatever is it best to keep the door on the front open or is it ok to have it closed?, i'd imagine it's best to have it open but i'm clumsy and might break it somehow lol
It'll be somewhat cooler with it open but it won't hurt to have it closed.
So just got my 1080ti back and it working wonderfully. The other card was for sure defective.
Just installed an ASUS Vega 64 but I'm not getting the frames I should. I had a fresh install of windows on an SSD the other day to clean my comp and stuck the latest recommended AMD drivers on but I'm not getting even 60FPS on the GTA V benchmark at 1080p, I'm sitting around the 35-50 mark at best. Same goes for Dishonored 2. Is there anything that might be causing this?
A few weeks ago some carpeting people broke the fuck out of my PC (because apparently when I moved it out of the way into a bath tub that wasn't out of the way enough). Anyway, I just don't have the patience to do another build because when I built this one it really ate my ass in a metaphorical sense.
So slight heretic question: is there a website that isn't Alienware that allows me to pick some parts for a PC and just order it built?
Wasn't impressed with ibuypower's lack of options but I'll check out the other two. Thanks, duder
There's also Maingear.
Though it really depends on what you didn't like about building before, PCs used to have some niggles when building them (so many metal burrs, sharp edges, etc) but the last two builds (that weren't a server) were super smooth, and it's why I recommend certain cases so often (Corsair Obsidian line, Fractal), since they're a huge factor in that.
NZXT has their "BLD" service, bunch of the larger youtube channels advertise it every once and a while.

Use WattMan (or GPU-Z, or task manger, I guess) to check the Activity/Load - if it's less than 95%, and the CPU is closer to 100%, then it's probably a CPU bottleneck.
Also check what GPU clock it's trying to maintain.
With Ryzen gen 3 right around the corner and the possibility of getting a 6 core Ryzen 3, should I wait for that gen to come out before building a new PC? I was considering the R3 1200 but it's out of stock at the moment in my country, i could get that cpu with 16GB of ram for a pretty good price, for the same price I can get a Ryzen 5 1400 but with 8GB
The 1400 is $127.000 in CLP while the 1600 is $193.000, the 2600 is around 20 bucks cheaper for some reason
Although I had planned to pair it with a 1050 Ti or an used 970 if I could find it, i have a budget of around $650 including the keyboard and monitor
Can anyone confirm if this motherboard will or won't support a intel i7-9700k?
I wanted to buy a i7700k before but the site i want to buy from sells 9700k for cheaper and i thought why not just get the newer one.
But the site also warns that the core only works with Z390, Z370, H370, Q370, B360, H310 chipsets.
It probably doesn't but i just want to be sure just in case i'm stupid.

Alright thanks, know any good not too expensive alternative to that motherboard?
Yeah price is a bit on the edge, though now i'm wondering if it's worth buying a new mobo, since i already have the one i previously mentioned.
For reference this is the build i am doing, i got the case and mobo and fans, but after moving countries back and forth i never got the other half.
Is it worth the motherboard upgrade honestly or should i just stick with this build?
My other problem is i'm worried i might not be able to fit the 1080ti that i got, since it's not the one from the build video.
But worst case scenario i'd have to order a bigger case, and try to sell off the old one which i doubt will get much attention here.

Hmm, well i've been digging around think this would be a good choice for motherboard to go with the 9700k? http://www.skytech.lt/mpg-z390m-gaming-edge-msi-mpg-z390m-gaming-edge-ddr4-4500-hdmidp-usbc-matx-p-410578.html
I'm also gonna order this case to go with it http://www.skytech.lt/cc9011073ww-korpusas-corsair-graphite-series-760t-p-225200.html
Hm, yeah i think i'll just go with that, i'll try to sell off the motherboard and case i planned to use.
Thanks for the help.
Yeah back when the 1200 was in stock it was around 80-90 bucks
I had picked an ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS for OC'd and for when I'd eventually upgrade to Ryzen 2/3
The cheapest 570 costs $192.000, the one next to that is 235.000, while the 1050 Ti i'm gonna get is $164.000, there are slighty cheaper variants though, haven't looked too much into them
I'll check into freesync, and yeah I was planning on dual-channel anyway
What's a great nvme drive for the price?
I've been eyeing the 970 evo but looking for good alternatives with better prices if they exist.
I personally think Samsung makes the best NVMe drives, but that's because they make the NAND flash themselves, and so their controllers should be top notch as a result.
This is true for the PRO drives but the EVO drives are a bit notorious for faking speeds with tons of caching. Even the 970 EVO isn't really suited for, like, multi-terabyte file transfers. The actually good flash and controllers are saved for the PRO lineup.
That said, the 970 EVO is still massive overkill for pretty much anything that doesn't involve hundreds of gigabytes of file transfers at a time, and I highly recommend it as a boot drive.
That's mostly down to MLC vs TLC NAND being used in the pro vs evo lines (respectively) AFAIK.
I think Samsung is also the only memory maker still producing MLC NAND.

Just for an idea.
Yeah its 4GB
I kinda prefered the 1050 Ti bc it didnt need the power plug and was also cooler, my room gets pretty hot on summer so thats one reason why I currently avoided too powerful stuff
Um guys.
Intel Core I7
Does this look like a good idea? An apparently delidded and binned(whatever binned means) processor he says is capable of 5.0 ghz, for $290+
Suuuuuuuure.
Welp, lucky for you eBay has great buyer protections in the likely case it's an i3.

Plus he's selling the board it was on.
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO, LGA 1151, Intel Motherboard 889349111512..
I dunno, with the evidence presented, it seems credible. And even if it's not, like you said ebay has buyer protections.
Just make sure you use an extra good thermal paste, those scratches in the IHS are pretty gnarly.
Will Arctic MX-4 do the job? I've got a few tubes still hanging around. If not I'm also ordering stuff through newegg to finalize my VR setup, so thermal compound added in wouldn't be much of a bother.
Eh, I think people tend to make thermal paste into a way bigger deal than it actually is. If the person who grinded that IHS down did a semi-compentent job, it might actually be flatter than stock.
I was thinking of upgrading ram too, from this at 2133
HyperX Fury 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4 2133MHz DRAM (Desktop Memory) C..
to 32gb with this
CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288
Is this worthwhile? I know 32gb is overkill, but having dual channel memory seems like a plus.
I'd get some high grit sandpaper just to smooth out the surfance/scratches unless you plan on running it with the IHS on. Some 400,600 & 1000 would be good.
