I've been trying to figure out why my L2TP with IPSec VPN is not working on Windows, but works on iOS and Android for weeks, only to find out that the reason why it doesn't work is because Windows requires the AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule registry value changed, because it ALWAYS assumes that only either the client or the server is behind a NAT, and will not work if both of them are behind a NAT. I hate networking and I hate it even more when Windows is mixed in.
I have never met an experienced network professional that isn't also a professional alcoholic.
Working with any sort of computer shit is an exercise in frustration. If you aren't screaming "WHY ISN'T IT WORKING? IT SHOULD BE WORKING" while holding a bottle of liquor, you're doing it wrong.
Haha look at this poser with his liver still working
So I got hired and I have to relocate overseas. Without relocation package available for my position. Now how do you even bring a computer overseas? Do you strap it completely down, wrap it in bubble wrap and send it as package to yourself? I don't want to ditch my OG Xbox, Synology NAS or my crappy server.
So you're forced to move for a job and they aren't helping with it?
What sort of traditions does everyone have before a go-live? I'm coming up on T-24 hours before finally deploying a big two-plus-year project, which means tomorrow, my desk speakers will be playing my "Dawn of the Final Day" playlist - about six straight hours of boss fight music. (Would be longer, but I cut out all the multiple versions of the same thing - I've got a dozen versions of One-Winged Angel alone (and very strong opinions as to which is best)) What do you guys do to get pumped for a big release?
we're about to release a new version of a product to our customer and my team is pretty ho-hum about it, mainly because right now we're doing all the fucking boring stuff we put off like updating the user guide, doing dry-runs, and fixing random test failures. the customer is coming next week to test it out and we'll formally deliver it the week after that

Pretty much. They can't even tell me where I'll be working, because the datacenter is top secret. Can't even look for apartments close to work upfront and will have to basically live in an airbnb for a month or so.
But of course. Well, Rules of Nature, Stains of Time, and Collective Consciousness, at least. Never cared too much for the rest of them - fine for the game, but not something for a Best Boss Music playlist.

When I moved overseas I just shipped out the components in a big old box with a shit ton of newspaper to cushion it. Didn't even put it in static bags. Lord knows how it made it both ways :V
gonna be tbh if this is a government this sounds far fetched, and if it's a private company and i had the flexibility to find another offer i'd tell them to shove it "you're gonna make me move to ireland, not know where specifically i'm working, make me live in an airbnb/hotel for a month, and not pay for any of it" yeah that's a nope from me dawg also it being top secret falls apart once you actually start going there, unless they're planning on black bagging you every single day before work
Yeah, the second I was told "your job is moving overseas and we're not helping you get there lol" I'd smile, nod, and then quickly rush to my computer to start brushing up my resume
It's Amazon and I was told that the reason why I can't know the location yet is because it's a high risk area for some reason. Even a friend that works for amazon was surprised that I didn't get a relocation package and was told instead to just "airbnb in the meantime lol".
Damn IRA throwing molotovs and setting off homemade explosive devices near my data centers
Tell Amazon to go fuck themselves. Moving country requires a lot of help + financials. This isn't a cheap thing to do.
man i know there are reasons for that but it's still kinda butt
Not to mention the psychological wear and tear of it all. You're going someplace you likely haven't been before, where you know absolutely no one, to work in some "undisclosed" part of that country. That WILL take a psychological toll.
If there is one thing I do not need help with, it's generating a playlist of awesome boss fight music. I have that entirely under control. I was just wondering if anyone else had fun pre-launch traditions.
Either I will lose my mind continuing to do tech support and dealing with dumb customers or losing my mind over moving to a different country to just walk around a DC and swap faulty drives. I just have to endure it like I did with most things in life. Also my S7 has began doing really weird things this month. It randomly overheats in AIRPLANE mode, keeps randomly rebooting, locking up or shutting off, application UIs completely break when reopened, keeps randomly locking the screen like If I closed the book style case on the phone and today it set my time 3 hours back, making my alarms not ring and being late to work and now it's no longer generating 2FA tokens correctly. The Google authenticator, MS authenticator and BNet's code authenticator got all crippled. Warranty literally expired a week ago.
Can anyone recommend a good/decent and free dual monitor management software? All I really want is wallpaper management and taskbar on both monitors
idk about wallpaper but W10 already has taskbar on all monitors.
Pirate DisplayFusion Pro
Soo, I have a HDD with Windows on it that crashes/ shuts down the PC when I boot from it. What are the chances that if I plug it in without trying to boot from it, I can recover the files from it? SMART was last seen on Caution with a lot of bad sectors. It was in an HP CQ60 and idled at like 60C.
If the pro version is what you need, it's worth the price for a personal license too. Binary Fortress are a pretty good company and their tech support is actually legitimately decent.

Tried the DVD drive yet or is it onna thems fancy ultrathins?
