As expected, Firefox seems to be the choice. Yeah just you two, but still, everyone usually raves about FF, heck so did I long ago right before Chrome came along. Maybe I'll keep Edge for now though. Don't feel like installing another browser, but not going back to chrome because, as said, fuck google.
I've only ever used Opera.
I recently switched to Opera from Chrome, I tried a bunch of different browsers for a week (Vivaldi,Firefox,Edge) and Opera just worked out of the box for most things. Vivaldi is kinda buggy (not just from my experience, a lot of my friends who use it agree with that), Firefox is pretty good but 2x speed on youtube pitch-shifts the audio and that's just a no-no for me (also the mobile version is awful). Edge is edge, nothing special (although the built-in pdf/e-book reader is decent). Opera has probably the best mobile experience (imo) with an adblocker, a VPN and a data saver that actually does something, their sync is also pretty good and has a great dark theme.
Opera is still Chromium, and I'm pretty sure their VPN is just a proxy.
if you want fast email, don't use a browser
What email client are you using that's faster than ctrl+t gmail? Any software is going to take longer, especially (god-forbid) outlook
I have a button on my keyboard that opens up an email client. using a native client in most cases is going to be faster and more battery efficient than a web browser... unless you pick outlook
The whatever email client windows has by default opens pretty fast on my SSD. GMail loads in ~2 seconds or less, and I am used to it. My life isn't so fast paced that I don't have the 2 seconds to wait for my email to load and would change my habits to save it.
What do you think of the acer Helios 700 or as I like to call it “the crumb catcher.” https://youtu.be/HTVr7hXScI4 Pretty nifty way to disperse heat by cracking the laptop open but I’d be worried about the longevity of it.
Knowing acer's build quality especially when it comes to plastics, not very long at all.
My high school had Acer C720 chromebooks. Nobody had a perfect one, plus the screws would keep coming out of the bottom of them for some reason.
The only problem is their render tech is pretty bad images loading to like 300% of the window length etc.
I'm in a very curious position. Since I'm permamoving to Ireland, and I've got several hard drives full of data (12TB total, 5x 3.5', ) on them and 2FA recovery codes, and I don't want to leave them in my old place. I'll be also stuck in an airbnb for a month. What would be the best way to securely transport and keep the drives and folder with 2fa codes safe? Do I just get a bag lock, laptop lock and just pay for extra carry-on and slap those bad boys into that? I don't think I want to send it through courier service or through regular post.
Buy a HDD transport case like: https://www.amazon.com/SiForce-Internal-Protective-Briefcase-Transport/dp/B015QGHXIY/ Put 'em in Anti-static bags (sealed is preferable...since water/humidity ingress). Then stick good locks on the case, and ship with insurance. That's how I'd do it in the US.
How would you compare a machine with an Intel G4400 that has 8GB DDR4 with an AMD 2200G that has 4GB DDR4? No dedicated card. And what if instead of an 8GB G4400 vs. 4GB 2200G, it was a 12GB G4400 vs. 8GB 2200G?
What's the deal with the RAM here? You'd probably gimp the overall desktop experience of the first configuration on the 2200G with that 4GB. I'm fairly sure the 2200G will run circles around the G4400 in the second configuration, even with the extra RAM on the G4400's side. The internal GPU in the 2200G is especially a huge upgrade. The 2200G can also be overclocked without any issues unlike the locked G4400
The athlon 200GE might be a better option. It has SMT and a better gpu than the g4400.
Holy shit, what happened to RAM prices? I just added another 16GB of DDR4-2400 to my machine for $40/8GB stick. I put a few credit card rewards points towards it and paid hardly 50 bucks to double the amount of RAM in my rig. Those prices are crazy!
Don't hex it. I still have nightmares of paying $120 for 8GiB of DDR4 2666.
Apparently the JVM can't handle running when installed in a directory belonging to a user with Unicode characters in their name. Apparently you can't even install Java for a user with Unicode in their name because the installer crashes during pre-processing. What the fuck Oracle?
I've gotten extremely lucky twice now. I built my PC initially in early 2017 right before everything skyrocketed, and now I seem to have waited long enough to yet again be able to capitalize on fluctuating prices. I can't possibly imagine companies would be encountering overstock on memory right now so I have no idea why there's a fire sale - seemingly on Amazon only right now, too.
Might be time to actually put an acceptable amount of RAM in my server then.
November 2017. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109818/01117e68-0d05-4079-9122-4c33dd72d64e/chrome_2019-04-27_18-50-35.png oof
tbf that's DDR4-3466 so I mean, the prices on those sticks are probably not too far off, a lot of 2x8GB packs going for near that amount, maybe just a little less
I bought into Skylake as soon as it came out, $35 for 8GB of 2133. I sold the kit 3 years later for double the price.
You can get 2666 mhz for $35 now, you should have waited tbh
>500 for my 32GB DDR4 3200 kit nightmares on that.
So the wall mount for my TV gave up yesterday night and dropped the TV. Yay.
Did the mount fail or did it come out of the wall?
3/4 bolts came out of the screw anchor, all included equipment.
