why is this funny
Should have used the big numbers https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1755/8a9e9178-eeb0-4e41-84f8-c3246173d3c9/image.png
I clicked funny by mistake and apparently people bandwagoned
why owncloud instead of nextcloud?
IMO, the question (and specifically the summoning chant) was the funny part. But I saw everyone was rating the response instead, and threw mine onto that pile.
I still think rack mount dual socket servers are just power hungry overkill for any possible home usage They might be cheap, but if you're running them 24/7, you'll pay the price of rolling your own low power cpu system over the next few years worth of electricity bills Minus hard drives, I probably have like $300 into my home NAS (Haswell i3 with 8gb of DDR3) and it idles at less than 50w
OK so my current gaming setup is a MSI GS63VR laptop with a GTX 970 in a Razer Core 2. I emphasize the Razer Core 2 part because I am noticing that all my games run better in Borderless Windowed mode. Isn't that the opposite of what should happen? Insurgency: Sandstorm gets 20fps in Fullscreen mode, but a great 60fps in Borderless. Same with Far Cry 5, ass FPS in fullscreen but nice and smooth in Borderless. Shouldn't it be the opposite experience?
Got my hands on a working Sophos UTM 110/120 when cleaning out storage at work. Kinda useless without a license. From the outside it awfully looks like just a mini PC, so I might be able to install pfSense on it, or turn it into a Pi-Hole. It even got VGA. ... I think my coworker is using me as some dumpster for enterprise hardware, because so far I've got two mikrotiks, one cisco catalyst switch, physical firewall appliance and a synology NAS. Lets see if the next thing I'll get is a server lol.
Logitech needs to release a clone of the G502 but wireless. The 602 isn't doing it for me.
G300s wireless pls
Speaking of mice, I posted in PC building, but does anyone have any recommendations for a new mouse? My OG G700 is dying. Looking for wired/wireless compatibility, macro buttons, and sick LEDs to make it go faster. Budget ~$100 flexible.
Figured this shit out. The answer: Setting the "Preferred graphics processor" to "High-performance NVIDIA processor" in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Because having your laptop plugged in, set to high performance, and having a fucking TB3 eGPU plugged in does not signal Windows to use the dedicated graphics processor when in high intensity 3D applications. Windows!
Anyone with experience in Xbox 360 repairs? I have a fat console that reads DVDs and CD but not games. as far as I know it's never been opened before.
who tryin to go to def con this year my company is paying for blackhat training and they'll probably pay for def con too
I'm thinking of getting a cheap VPS so I can host a static website and some other stuff Is Vultr a decent provider? Comparing it to Linode, it seems to offer the same for $5/mo, but lets me choose a location other than the US Any recommendations?

Boy did I choose a shitty time to order stuff online I've got a bunch of Prime 2-day stuff, some eBay shipments, and the registration and insurance for my vehicle that've all been sitting for two days now because of this cold. I get that it's for employee safety and I really don't want people trying to deliver mail, but it'd be nice if I could at least come in and pick it up.
I can't read that content, but I think you can invite people to groups by email, so FB sends you an email so you could join the group. Maybe it was that?
even doing this for GDPR results in an email that the email address to sent to is not the department for identity verification or some shit
is this facebook or google?
The Corsair Company Party is on saturday and people are dressing up for it. I'm worried.

RIP my laptop's secondary GPU. I tried to play Just Cause 3 on my laptop after getting it on the Humble Bundle and halfway into the first cutscene it fried the AMD switchable graphics permanently. Now the computer halts during driver installation, which persists with a clean install of Windows. I'm locked to the Intel HD 4600 graphics now :c
Dude almost the same thing happened to a customer computer at work yesterday. It had HD4600 and a GTX 870m and any time it tried to access the discrete graphics the whole computer would lock up. Don’t install the nvidia driver and it’s fine, but if it has the nvidia driver any time anything tried to access the dgpu it would freeze, regardless of intensity.
I somehow managed to fuck up my audio out and everything I tried did not fix it. Last attempt is a system restore, see you on the other side boys.
And now it BSODs because of "CRITICAL PROCESS DIED" give me a break fucks sake. I can't even boot into safe mode.
Alright so looks like my only option at this point is to reinstall. Grr

Office 2010 is "great" Coworker on call had to install Office 2010 on a computer for a customer, it didn't accept the KMS key but accepted MAK, activated fine, installed latest KB patches, restarted machine, Office 2010 suddenly needs to be activated again and fails to activate. He rings me up, asks what to do since I had this exact issue previously and I told him to do phone activation, which also in turn failed. Slovak number for activation over phone just straight up drops you and the link you get from the US phone activation number just straight up fails.
