An 8-pin power connector with standard 18 gauge pins can do easily 400+ watts. You'd be incapable of cooling the 9700k with even water before you hit that level of power draw on it. So yes, it's fine, even if you do a pretty decent OC on it. You don't need more than an 8-pin until you're getting into XOC.
Yeah, for now I've opted to knock the refresh rate down a bit and I'll get some OC'ing done when I get time to actually run tests between tweaks. Hopefully this time I don't go too nuts with it and cause every other game to crash 5 minutes in lmao
Im havung a weird issue with my audio getting loud and quiet randomly. I never had this issue before my hardware update
Is anyone here submitting their PC build to builds.gg?
I am having a tough time choosing between the i5-9600k and the ryzen 2700x help
If I had to do it again, I'd have gone for a 1700x instead of the 1950x I have now, but man that 2017 black friday sale was too good to pass up. $699 for 16 cores was unheard of. The only reason why I kinda regret it is because cooling this thing's a bitch without shoveling out more fore liquid cooling which I still have yet to invest in.
GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCK I got sent normal 1080 waterblocks Won't fit mine because of the extra PCI-E connector Help me find two 1080 FTW/FTW2 waterblocks that I can buy in the US because I have to return these.
Yeah, especially because not all liquid coolers will offer full coverage for the monster multi-die complex they have going on.
Today was a good day. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133402/ad6a1230-fb69-4889-a650-01360e68ec1d/yes.jpg
I just got a 970 Pro nvme m.2. my motherboard has 2 slots for it, one with a heatsink and one without. which should I use? i've heard stories of m.2 heatsinks doing jack all, and in some cases making it hotter.
Gonna need a new case and a modular PSU but as it stands Id say this came out okay. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/187099343667462144/553065606811877376/JPEG_20190306_231026.jpg?width=423&height=563
Can I just say that installing the wraith spire cooler was a small nightmare.
I don't know how people have problems on AM4, AMD has some of the best mounting mechanisms possible, IMO.
The wraith spires spring loaded screws were really short and needed a LOT of pressure to reach the bracket, it's not like the bigger am4 coolers that just kinda clip and latch on
I wish they sold coolers soldered onto cpus soldered on to mobos that are soldered onto cases
I was going to get some Cablemod cables but it seems like they don't do Antec power supplies. are there any recommendations for antec ones?

Aren't the newer Antec PSU's just Seasonics? If it's a shared platform with some other more common model, you can probably just use them for those.
Mine ain't new, probably from 2015 I reckon
Do you know the model number? I'm sure if you look it up you can figure out who manufacturers it then figure out what else is similar or simply a rebadge. EVGA just churns out new lineups all the time, it'll probably be shared with something that EVGA or Corsair sell that's more common.

where da fuk it get fresh air from? Side panel intake? also glossy plastic is cool, looks premium mate
Shit, that reminded me of how bad I wanted to turn my friends old PC into a modern one but with the old aesthetic, they just wouldn't let me because it was their deceased sisters PC and didn't want to lose anything on it.
Ah yes, sleeper PC. They have nice aesthetic sometimes.
I can't remember the brand or model, but I think it was a small older Dell PC that split apart in the middle.
Yeah glossy plastic sucks. I might fog it black, not sure.
Dell loves the clamshell design, so that could be so many different computers.

This kind of consumer goodwill could probably float AMD through two generations of mediocre CPU launches, but if my guess is right, they won't be mediocre at all. They'll keep killing it.
so um. I bought the Corsair Crystal 280X + the Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming to downsize my huge ass tower and I have a tiny little issue. My cooler, the NZXT Kraken X62 (280mm radiator), doesn't fit at the top of the case by a feeew millimeters. It hits the top front intake fan. As a temporary solution, I moved the fan to the bottom so I could fit the radiator at the top. Problem is, I have a massive 300mm GPU so now the bottom intake fan blows air directly into the GPU fan, which in turn blows directly against the bottom fan. It's not a huge issue since the GPU has an additional 2 fans so thermals are okay, but there's room for improvement. It's not a huge deal though, considering the thermals are still within okay ranges (but it would be nice to find a fix so it wouldn't ramp up its fans so much!). I imagine two fans pointing at each other will greatly diminish their ability to move air around or will they still work well? Would it be better to remove the bottom fan completely so the GPU fan doesn't have to fight the bottom fan? If I remove it, I'll end up with only one intake fan and two exhaust fans on the radiator. I don't think I can mount the radiator in the front due to the clearance between the GPU and the front. If I'm not hitting the top fans with a front mounted radiator, I'm pretty sure I'll be hitting the GPU instead.
