Ran overwatch (not a hard game to run I know) at 4k ultra silky smooth. Not a frame dropped
I just set my RAM clock speed to 2666 from 2400 in XMP BIOS so I guess you could say I'm an overclocker now. 😎
Hi! I want to buy a geforce 2060. My PSU is a Corsair 500W (CX500) Is my PSU enough for this GPU?
Depends on what your overall setup looks like, if you have something with a high TDP cpu with lots of fans, drives, ect. You'll want to upgrade. If you have a non overclockable like 65w tdp cpu running stock, ect. You'll be fine provided you have the correct amount of power connectors, ect. If it's the old version with the green text from like 2010/2011 like I have a couple posts back, I would look into replacing it since those weren't particularly high quality.
i'm running a i7 7700. it has exactly 65w tdp. i'm not overclocking anything. i have a 7200 HD and i recently bought an SSD. i have 16gb of DDR3 Ram. I have one fan, no watercooling. i dont plan on OCing anything at all: i want to run everything stock. do you think it'll work smoothly?
Oh so it's the newer one, yeah you're plenty fine since that's a decent unit now. I don't think they make the CX500 anymore though, only a CX450 and a CX550 both of which should be fine as they're pretty acceptable nowadays. Nvidia rates the RTX 2060 at 160w so figure fudge it for safety and consider the cpu 100w, gpu 200w then add like 50w for some headroom for everything else and you're still around 350w-400w and that's optimistic.

The airflow in it was dramatically improved my making the top mounted radiator exhaust instead of intake like it originally was, adding a second fan to make the GPU radiator have a push-pull config has the double benefit of exhausting heat out the top, with the two 80mm fans to help pull excess heat out the back as well.
Planning on upgrading to Zen2 later in the year to replace my veteran 3570k, as part of this I'm also going to be downsizing my case from a Fractal Design Define R4 to either a Mid or perhaps at a stretch a Micro ATX case as I am hoping to fit the case to an underside rack on my desk (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BBLHQ6M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) which measures at the bottom railing a width of approximately 217mm. I'm running an ASUS Strix Vega 64 at the moment and mean to get a bit of overclocking done with the Zen2 on a CM 212 Evo so I'm looking for decent airflow as well while I'm at it. Had my eyes so far on the Fractal Meshify C and the Meshify C Mini. Have heard about the NZXT S340 Elite but I've heard they have shite airflow at the front. Any suggestions?
FYI overclocking on AMD CPU's is basically pointless because of AMD's XFR and Precision Boost, which take advantage of proper cooling to increase clock speeds when advantageous. Doesn't mean it isn't a good choice, I'm rocking a R5 2600x and it's able to keep games chugging along at either 1080P or 4K.
I thought Zen 2 was the current Ryzen 2000's? Or is that Zen Plus?
This will probably continue to be true, but as Lolkork said, we just don't know.
This is really only true for more casual builders, really. Manual voltage adjustment and overclocking of, say, an R7 2700 will get you some great clock speeds and performance. The performance uplift of manual OC on an "X" SKU part is admittedly lesser, but not to be ignored when it comes to benchmarking and/or with high-end cooling. I always recommend that if someone has the ability to OC competently, then they should purchase the cheaper non-X SKUs. It's literally the same hardware.
with say a 2600 vs a 2600x, the 2600x will in theory have better binning, meaning that while you won't get as big an increase percentage wise, your actual clock speed could potentially be faster on the 2600x over the 2600, assuming you're competent at it and your motherboard is half decent at it.
Question: is there a consistently good brand for 16GB DDR4 DIMMs that aren't RGB GaMeRz sticks or whatever? Heatsinked is fine, even preferred, I just want 32GB (2x16) of the stuff that won't totally break the bank.
TEAM Dark Pro is very, very good but very pricey. Comes with guaranteed Samsung B-Die.
Okay I don't know if this is the right place to ask but here I go. I'm planning to change my i5-7400 CPU 3.00GHz and I need recommendations. What I have on my PC is: .ASUS H110M-E/M.2 .NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti .8GB DDR 4 of RAM I'm planning to add another 8,00 GB later but first I would like to know what is a good modern CPU to put now, I don't know much of computers but to give an idea the only game running very bad is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, even when turning off everything the game struggles to keep stable FPS, I don't know if the problem is my computer lacking power or if the game isn't properly optimized. I did a quick search and seems the i5-9600K is a good option, but not sure if is compatible with my computer.
If you're running a single stick of DDR4, a lot of games struggle and have all sorts of studding and performance issues with single channel memory. If it's fairly slow memory like 2133 or 2400mhz I'd just recommend to buy a dual channel kit if you can. 4 core/4 thread cpus can also bottleneck in newer titles which actually multithread correctly.
So the plan should be buy RAM instead, I have a single stick of a Kingston HyperX. I looked at the model number and this is the one that I have: https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX424C15FB2_8.pdf So buying another stick of this same model should be a good move, right?
Yeah that should work, you can probably overclock it with some copy paste settings from like 2800-3000mhz or so of the same ram with a touch more voltage or something too. Just don't overpay for it, it can be pretty hard to find specific memory as it's more of a buy whatever's on sale sort of thing unless you're buying on the highest end.
Thanks for the help, I will try buying that RAM stick and see how things goes. The next thing on the list should be which motherboard + CPU should I get later when I need to upgrade.
I don't doubt that you guys get asked something like this every other day, but I'm planning on upgrading my circa-2011 PC to bring it to the modern age and I don't know the first thing about computer hardware. If I wanted to play something like Skyrim SE on high settings with consistent 60 FPS, what kind of specs should I look for? Let's say I have I budget of maybe £900.
Considering your current build is from 2011, you'll probably have to replace everything except for the drives, case and PSU if they're still decent. Post your current specs and we'll see where we can go from there. Also I don't think Skyrim is a very demanding game, you could probably get 60FPS in it for a lot cheaper than that. Will you also be playing anything newer or do some other demanding tasks with your PC?
Well this is fucking weird, I keep trying to see the latest posts in here and it keeps loading the first page. The fucks going on.

Oh. Please stop deleting your account guys I'm scared.
oh wow didn't realize deleting my account would cause a mess, I'm sorry. I have said some regerettable stuff on this site over the years. So I deleted my account to make it harder to find. I'm not quitting facepunch though.
Not your fault the forum lacks basic stability.
bought rx470 8gb bc it's heavily discounted oh well
1st time installing this, not so bad after all, but i was wondering if those cables are fine bc they're touching those metal pipes https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/529627506580652033/566971874467250178/20190414_195335.jpg
Most cables are rated for 95c or 105c IIRC, and those pipes are never going to see those temperatures. So should be fine.
