Safari is the closest one to Chrome speed wise, but chrome is still faster, i really love chrome and i cant wait for the addons thingy to work 100%. [editline]04:27PM[/editline] Google is not a complete asshole, they allow you to select multiple search engines.
Because Google lacks some things when I search so I toggle between the two. Same as bing.
This is why I use FireFox... Chrome can't do this... But seriously, I just use FireFox because I am used to it and I don't really feel like changing it up right now. Maybe in a while when I feel like a chance I will use Chrome more exclusively. I have both installed I just prefer using FireFox is all.

I don't know...
Yes...Chrome is MUCH faster than FF. In loading time and in browser launching.

Yes download it for her. It's plain and simple and is very fast to load.
Ha. Either some kind of placebo or a bandwagon of saying that Chrome "loads faster" than Firefox. If you rate me disagree you are dumb. I have proof.
I just don't use Bing because of the fact that there was already a super search engine that offered tons of things, Bing just decided to be a bitch and copy off of Google. (See College Humor's Bing video) I used Bing, I didn't knock it before I tried it. It's not much different. However, Google Chrome is pwnage because it took everything good that every other web browser had and slapped it together and eliminated most of the problems that the others had. Even though it may sound like I'm being a hypocrite, a search engine is totally different from a web browser. I don't like firefox because well, mostly because it seems they have their head up their asses. Too flashy. I don't need to customize the way it looks to make me feel good, don't fucking bother me with 'little tips' about customizing fire fox. I wan't my web browser to be effective. A good looking web browser is an option, not a requirement. I have used Safari as well, I just don't like it. However, since someone mentioned before that it looks totally different on a Mac, I guess I'm just allowed to say it feels awkward using it because I use it on a PC. Internet Explorer...As a experienced PC user it's safe to say I am very familiar with it. I like it, it's adequate, but Google Chrome just T-bags IE. I switched over from it and I was amazed. I've decided to go ahead and try Safari again, seeing how last time I tried it, it was like 5 years ago. "The world’s fastest browser!" - Apple Safari 4 Download. It's like when you drive through a small town and you see a sign on a petty restaurant that says: "World Famous!"
Umm, Chrome looks more flashy than Firefox to me.
How did this thread make it to 5 pages.
Hmm, I don't see a problem with Safari, they both look alright, move just as fast, I'd have to use it a lot to judge it more accurately. Downloading takes longer with Safari, mostly because it asks you whether you want to save or open it, and opens a little window with the item that is downloading and it's progress. (Comparing Google Chrome to Safari)
I don't think Chrome is actually faster than Firefox, just more smoothly animated. And it seems to make people think it is faster.
I don't think Chrome is actually faster than Firefox, just more smoothly animated. And it seems to make people think it is faster.
Ya know, you could have just added that to your previous post. Imma try Firefox again. Woah...Hey, Firefox says they're the fastest too. Safari says it's the fastest and FireFox says it's the fastest.
I could have ;D.
Opera 10 here, but Chrome is good too.
FireFox has unnecessary BS [editline]10:35PM[/editline]
Opera 10 here, but Chrome is good too.
Imma try that too. Safari download was 27mb, Firefox was 9mb and Opera 10 was 6.7mb Firefox was the quickest to install compared to Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari. "Speed dial" For Opera is similar to Google Chrome's new tab page.
FireFox has unnecessary BS
By default. It doesn't take much to turn the bookmarks toolbar off.
By default. It doesn't take much to turn the bookmarks toolbar off.
I didn't ask for it to be there. Which brings me back to my point that firefox bothers you with shit.
What, there is a bookmarks toolbar by default on chrome o-o
You didn't ask for it not to be there. Turning it off is the equivelant. Plus a lot of people use that toolbar, which is why it is there. [editline]11:56PM[/editline]
What, there is a bookmarks toolbar by default on chrome o-o
Thanks. I didn't know this. Therefore you are being baised. :).
Firefox devs have admitted that (in windows) firefox is way slower than chrome on startup times. It's because of the way chrome loads though. One of the next point releases of firefox should use a similar method and will be equal to chrome in startup times. Other than that though, they are about equal when both are up and running(if you don't have addons on either). Once addons come into play, firefox becomes slower because it has more running in the same process, where chrome's addons run in their own process. But you can't really test the speed of chrome with addons yet, because there's a severe lack of any big addons. It's really a matter of preference still. If you want super customization, you go with Opera, or firefox. If you want barebones and a little more speed go chrome. And if you don't care, just stick with the default IE or safari.
Eh, I didn't like Chrome. The biggest issue was the lack of add-ons that I use constantly. I can't go without them. So, until Chrome has Ad-block, Twitterfox (or the equivalent), something that makes the bookmark toolbar multi-line, GooglePreview, Gmail Notifier, and DownThemAll! I won't be switching. Also, I found the UI kinda ugly.
You don't need add block with chrome, it has a built in one, which is better, not only because it's built in, but because it's just better. Make sure you get the Dev version (are on the dev channel) so you get updates every week, instead of quarterly.
It's better because it's just better? Nice one. [editline]12:42AM[/editline] Wait how can it be better if Firefox blocks almost all ads, I've never seen one since I installed adblock. Plus you can manually block anything else.
http://dev.chromium.org/user-experience/ I found this in the chromium wiki. It's a good read on why the UI is the way it is.
Actually I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I just download Chrome and Firefox and loaded bbc.com in Chrome, FF and IE8. I've not been to this website in any browser so it isn't cached. I'm honestly not lying when I say IE8 was the quickest, with Chrome marginally slower, and Firefox last. I'm not sticking up for IE8, it just actually looked the quickest. Granted I only did the test once but it still happened like that.
I do not like bloated browsers. Chrome is fast, and efficient, and RARELY crashes. Sure I miss Neternet, but the speed boost is worth it.
I don't think Chrome is actually faster than Firefox, just more smoothly animated. And it seems to make people think it is faster.
so, that's what you think? you can back that up? because I can back up my non-moronic opinion. with an image i've already posted.
I've had Chrome ever since november of last year, and I've loved it ever since.
Firefox loads and browses faster for me.
Firefox loads and browses faster for me.
run the futuremark peacekeeper
Futuremark Peacekeeper doesn't say a fuck about startup times.
Futuremark Peacekeeper doesn't say a fuck about startup times.
Oh my god x browser starts 10 ms faster than y browser! Big deal. I can't stand people who obsess over startup times. Both browsers have their ups and downs. Personally, I use Firefox due to the numerous addons. But if I ever needed a minimal browser just for browsing (say, on a laptop?) I'd definitely use Chrome due to the fact that it's lightweight, minimal, and fast. But for a desktop or something of the like..Firefox for sure. I don't even know why I'm typing this. I've been typing a lot today.
