Installing it required closing all programs, including Windows Expoorer. Then I had to restart Windows and configure updates for about ten minutes. Then it broke my iTunes and I had to reinstall it. I don't recommend it.
Congratulations. You are probably the only person who could cause that problem itself. Windows went through the update process as you did just update system files, and it only takes a few minutes. So somewhere along the line you will have done something to make it take that long. Never defragged? More updates were installed than you thought? As for iTunes. I wouldn't say a windows update would break it, it doesn't rely on IE as far as I am aware.
Well, i'm sticking with chrome now, but i may give this IE9 a try. Does it start faster than chrome? I doubt so. :ghost:
I like opera best, very fast, easy, straight forward. Plus opera users are a rare breed it seems because people are way too lazy to tkae 5 seconds to eye buttons, or to even get it in the first place.
Yep, that's exactly why. It has nothing to do with the fact that there are other, better browsers available and that Opera users are a barely relevant niche. At least it isn't a bad browser.
http://people.mozilla.com/~prouget/ie9/ie9_vs_fx4.html Has this been posted yet? No it seems.
lol i was going to check it until i saw mozilla.com in the link. Irony much?
http://people.mozilla.com/~prouget/ie9/ie9_vs_fx4.html Has this been posted yet? No it seems.
It's from Mozilla. And they just threw up random numbers. I can't trust someone from Mozilla, who is going to be clearly biased in the first place.
I like that they rewrote the layout engine from scratch.
I like that they rewrote the layout engine from scratch.
Rendering your websites wrong in a whole new way!
Rendering your websites wrong in a whole new way!
How's it rendering wrong?
How's it rendering wrong?
Dunno. I don't even use Windows anymore.
If you have GTA4 I don't recommend installing this as it breaks it to no end.
i'm liking it so far, if something on par with firefox/chrome's adblock comes out for ie9, i might use it for a while.
My only gripe is that the tabs are to the right of the address bar, which seems silly.

If you have GTA4 I don't recommend installing this as it breaks it to no end.
Care to elaborate?
If you have GTA4 I don't recommend installing this as it breaks it to no end.
8 times out of 10 I can't even get it to launch anyway. Same with other people I know. Also there's rumors that they're already working on IE10. If true it's good to know they're not slowing down.
Even if you hate IE, you should download it. It will replace IE8, which occasionally pops up when you use certain applications. Also, programs that use it internally (Like Steam used to do) will benefit from it.
No, it uses a controller that comes with .NET, not the internal installed version. If you uninstall IE, those applications still run.
Firefox 4 RC1 is out too! And it's much better than IE9! (personal experience)
Firefox 4 RC1 is out too! And it's much better than IE9! (personal experience)
How can you compare something that isn't out to something that is?
No, it uses a controller that comes with .NET, not the internal installed version. [editline]16th March 2011[/editline]
How can you compare something that isn't out to something that is?
Also, what?
Also, what?
wow fuck my brain added the word "nearly" in the sentence, ignore that
How can you compare something that isn't out to something that is?
Unlike Microsoft, Mozilla uses the real definition of "Release Candidate" where if there are no major bugs, it is released as the final release as-is. So unless RC1 has some massive problems or performance issues, it is exactly the same as Firefox 4 will be on release.
where if there are no major bugs, it is released as the final release as-is.
IE9 Final is the RC. They used it properly.
This is actually really nice.
IE9 Final is the RC. They used it properly.
Weird.
Weird.
How so?
How so?
Well Vista wasn't that way and Windows 7 neither I believe. Also the version number is different, so they're still redoing the packaging which can technically introduce bugs...
Well Vista wasn't that way and Windows 7 neither I believe. Well they made one change which was a link to pinned sites. But that was it.
Maybe because Vista and 7 still had bugs. Well they made one change which was a link to pinned sites. But that was it.
But if they still have bugs, you're supposed to do another RC. Otherwise just call them betas and be done with it. This is what I'm saying, their version of RC is just marketing.
Vista had 2. As for 7 I can see your point.
It just seems inconsistent to me. Maybe they have some internal guidelines regarding it. Anyway, glad to see they're improving the browser, although I'm guessing they'll quickly lag behind unless their dev team is really good.
