Got new headphones, microphone didn't work, removed old drivers now nothing works

OT: We can't know for sure what it is. Remote help can only get you so far. As I said: Tech savvy friend or computer repair shop is your best bet.

Exactly. There may be something missing that you don't know about but someone a little more tech savvy would notice.
Ok guys thanks for the help. In the end i had to do a system reformat but oh well i got sound now :). 7 days of no sound was hard haha
The official X-fi drivers aren't supported by Vista, that probably was your issue. I've got the same card and OS but thanks to some glitch the proper drivers work. I'm guessing the same has occured for you.
