ah, there you are, just as i predicted.
[editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
the lycosa mirror just has such a nice feel on the keys. its not rubbery, its not plasticy... its like.. hard gel or something... its just great eh :P your fingers can slide across them easily, theres the perfect amount of traction and the perfect amount of grip.
You've never used the Black Widow it has similar surfaces but the hardware actually stands up and the key faces don't disappear.
Is back lighting purely cosmetic?
[editline]29th March 2011[/editline]
I mean, is there a practical use for it?
seeing the keys in the dark
that's like asking if lights in general are just for aesthetics
Steelseries 7G, I fucking love mine to bits.
It's awesome for typing, nope no backlit keys, no fancy looks, oldschool mechanical standard looking. The massive handrest is really really comfortable.
It costs 50 bucks more to backlight it which isn't that bad because it's technically 50 cents to backlight each key
They're adding a USB hub and a sound card to it also, though $0.50 for each key being considered "Not bad" is silly. LEDs are extremely cheap, especially on any large production scale.

I have a Lycosa which I find awesome enought, except for the fact that the media keys sometimes bug out, but it happens like once a week, so it's not that bad. But yeah, I wouldn't buy another one in the future.
