Okay really, probably Open Office or Libre Office.
Google Docs or LibreOffice are both solid options. In Ubuntu, I used to replace OpenOffice with Abiword for word processing and gnumetrics (I forget the name) for excel stuff.
LibreOffice looks exactly the same as OpenOffice, just a different name stamped on it.

That's because Oracle stopped the development of Open Office. LibreOffice is the same development team, but free from Oracle.

google docs is a good option too, though it's kind of annoying when you're writing up a research paper, but i don't know how to windows so that's my problem
Code your pages in HTML and then print them with your web browser.
