why would i need a numpad, and it feels fine maybe you have some weird finger condition where you can't press flat things but i'm p. sure normal people don't have problems w/ this
Mechanical switches are just vastly superior to flat keys, which makes them much nicer to type on. Also I find the numad convenient, but you're right, they're not absolutely necessary.

OK, OK I probably shouldn't be trying to convert people. Perhaps I should learn English as well.
An old one with buckling springs? Or a new one with ALPS?
afaik all the AT101Ws use alps
Just opened up my Razer Blackwidow. I know alot of people bitch about Razer's build quality, but this thing feels like a tank. Its really heavy, the macro keys are useful, and the mechanical switches feel like cocaine for my fingers. I mean, its a mechanical keyboard with MX blues for $70, whats not to like?

I stand corrected.

I miss the PS/2 port, but if you can live without it, it sure is a great keyboard.
Does it make a difference on what port it uses? A lot of motherboards don't even have PS/2 ports anymore.

Full NKRO is only possible with PS/2.
You can just use a USB to PS/2 converter
Yeah, I meant that I missed such an adapter with the Blackwidow. I never realized they were also sold seperately...

It's a great keyboard, though it doesn't have great NKRO, but they have done something interesting to fix that. If I hold down both shift keys and try typing, I notice that keys in the area of WASD are uneffected, but things like the spacebar are. This helps make the problem less noticeable, though in general typing I don't see being problematic.
Yeah, my motherboard only has one PS/2 port. So now that I've got the widow and I ditched my old shitty dell keyboard, I can plug this sucker in and relive my childhood.

I used that thing for the first two years of my computer-using life. :nostalgia:

It's like a few dollars, but works great.
I shouldn't have to post an image of my G15v2 but I'm switching over to the razer blackwidow because I got enough money to afford one and I fell in love with the cherry MX blues.
You Sir, have a good taste in keyboard switches.

I like it. It was cheap and those extra buttons are helpful
Yumy told me about his Das, it seems absolutely awesome.

The Deck Legend, the first backlite mechanical keyboard. I am tempted to get the standard font keycaps from TG3. Cherry Clears represent. My room mate has a Das and the cherry blues are so damn loud, they just seem to pierce through my headphones. My mechanical has spoiled me; I can stand laptop keyboards, but the standard keyboards just feel gross now. Saitek Cyborg and G15 just feel so mushy after using a mechanical keyboard.
Brown > Clear > Blue > Black
Reds are impossible to find so they don't count in the US.

It is. Believe me that.

If you don't mind the click, Blues are the best. If not, go for brown.

The blues are the most tactile with there point yes, but in the sense of what I want the blue's don't fit it as well as browns and clears. It all comes down to personal preference when the day is done anyways right?

Ouch, could've gotten a real one for that prize...
A nice g11, has fancy lighted keyboard, a whole set of GXX buttons that are useful in games for saving and shortcuts, instant mute button and play/pauze, next, previous and stop buttons for music, and a disk for PC volume.
And I love it.
