i find it ironic that several people posted wireless mac keyboards on a gmod forum where a numpad is an essential tool in gmod
i find it ironic that several people posted wireless mac keyboards on a gmod forum. how can you play gmod properly without a freaking numpad?
personally I played gmod for like 30 minutes and wasn't all that interested...more here for the otherwise useful and expansive forums.
how's the razer blackwidow i want a mechanical keyboard but there are basically zero with nordic layout (atleast that i know of) if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be awesome
Full NKRO is only possible with PS/2.
Did you know that you can do more then just the 6+4 modifier with USB? Most keyboard makers are just lazy and keep the board is boot mode all the time, thats where the 6 key limit is from. After entering most modern OS the limit is gone and larger amounts of characters can be sent. Thats what Microsoft did the Sidewinder x4. It takes 105 bits to handle a full keyboard map, so 14 byte packets are all it takes to make an NKRO USB keyboard; in reality its 23 bytes for all languages. Even at 1000hz polling rate that is just 23KB/s. I remember seeing a thread on Geekhack of a member working on a PS/2 to USB adapter for NKRO keyboards that still allows full NKRO on USB. This one is the one actually, using a Teensy for it.
I know this may or may not be the right thread, but It's the only one I see dedicated to keyboards. I'm going to get a new keyboard, and I was thinking about this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126043 I like it because of it's size and I got to use it in person and I was pleased with it; I'm not sure if I will start to dislike the laptop style keys though. Anyone have any suggestions (around same price range, a little closer to $50 preferably)?
What makes a keyboard good? Why is my cheap plastic asus keyboard inferior to any of yours? I'm thinking of buying another one, but I don't really see why I'd need to.
What makes a keyboard good? Why is my cheap plastic asus keyboard inferior to any of yours? Many with argue that the switch to a mechanical keyboard is ergonomic as well.
What makes a keyboard good? Why is my cheap plastic asus keyboard inferior to any of yours? I'm thinking of buying another one, but I don't really see why I'd need to.
Build quality and materials for me. My keyboard weighs 4lbs and has the keys mounted to a steel plate. The keycaps are made of 2-piece so the markings won't come off unless you wear all the way through the keys. The case is made from polycarbonate. The key-switches are rated for 50-million presses, compared to a membrane keyboard 1-10 million. It has an individual LED lighting each key, they are rated for 18-years of continuous use. NKRO, n-key roll over; no matter how many keys you press all of them will be typed. Past 6 the difference isn't to noticeable, but most keyboards are just 2-key rollover. You notice rollover if you try to do something like reloading while crouching and moving diagonally. I mostly like the feel compared to membrane keyboards. Laptop's are still fine with me because scissor-switches are way more solid then regular keyboards now. Sometimes its true that they just don't make them like they used too. If anyone wants I'll take them on in a game of keyboard conkers.
Anyone know of a keyboard smaller than 16 inches? my keyboard tray wont fit my mouse otherwise
Anyone know of a keyboard smaller than 16 inches? my keyboard tray wont fit my mouse otherwise
Since newegg has Cherry keyboards available since the mechanical renaissance... There is one that looks to fit your needs perfect, 15.94" wide. It uses Cherry MY switches which have a similar feel to MX blacks, so they are linear keyswitches with no feedback for actuation, they actutuate at the same point as MX switches. They are supposed to be very hard to bottom out. its even stiffer then MX blacks and I have never used MY style switches. Its a POS, point of sale, keyboard so its built like a tank, not sure if it feels like one to type on too though. The keys are laser etched and then backfilled. So do you think it will work or should I try again? Cherry G81-1800 LPMUS-2 To anyone wondering about how to find out the parts of a Cherry keyboard without looking at the datasheets, you can only find out so much. X - Keycap printing technique, in this case L means laser etched, H means double shot, etc Y - P stands for PS/2, U stands for USB, C combination Z - Keyswitch type, not sure of all codes currently CD - Country format, in this case US - C - Colors black is usually 2
Logitech G110 Love it.

$100, what do I get 4RT1LL3RY? I was thinking Rosewill RK-9000.

How do I post pics without the [ media ] webname [/ media ]?
$100, what do I get 4RT1LL3RY? I was thinking Rosewill RK-9000.
It depends, what kind of key switches do you want? Do you like tactile feedback, audible feedback, etc? Browns are the best all around keys. I like clears that my board has, but like the lightness of browns a lot as well. Do you want full size, tenkey-less, or compact board?
[img_thumb]http://www.connexxionit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/K120_K2.jpg[/img_thumb] It's like a few dollars, but works great.
I'm using the same one. Cheap and quiet.
browns for quiet tactile, blues for tactile if you don't care how loud it is

I don't want linear switches. Tenkey-less looks good but full-size is alright too. I was looking at the iOne Scorpius M10 too. [editline]27th December 2010[/editline] Or the Adesso MKB-135b.
So you are going for just gaming, and use another keyboard the rest of the time, or are you going to use it for everything. Blacks are meant for just gaming. Browns are the mid ground. Cherry Clears which I have are middle point between black and browns, its a brown spring with a black switch. Cherry reds are black linear switches with the springs of browns. The M10 is cherry blues so you wouldn't want it for gaming, the Adesso is also blues. You could look at the SteelSeries G7 and G6v2, they are cherry blacks. I'll look for browns and see if any US boards have reds.

[editline]27th December 2010[/editline] From what I read, browns have the lowest actuation force but they're more expensive than the blues and they're basically just quiet blues, right?
Going to be using it for everything. Why wouldn't I want blues and aren't blacks linear? That doesn't sound very good to me. All cherry keys are basically the same price. The reason that most gaming boards are using blues is that other switches are far more subtle so people who just bottom the out don't notice the difference. The difference between rubber dome and browns is subtle compared to with blues. Blacks you know the difference but its not a good feeling. If you want browns, you would need to hold out for Elitekyboards to get the Leopolds in too.
I guess I'll just go for some cheaper Blues then, wait about a week and see if the RK-9000 is back in stock anywhere and if it's not I'll just go for the Adesso MKB-135b.
how's the razer blackwidow i want a mechanical keyboard but there are basically zero with nordic layout (atleast that i know of) if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be awesome
Try these: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_search.asp?SG=10029 http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_search.asp?SG=10038 http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=793 Or get an DAS Model S Ultimate, you can use the Swedish layout on it.
Had this BAMF but then the spacebar stopped working (if anyone has any ideas as to why please PM me) so now I'm using For being free and having a new PS/2 plug soldered on (previous owner decided to turn the plug while it was plugged in completely destroying the pins) its a pretty nice keyboard
I got a Blackwidow for xmas, and I kinda understand what you guys mean about the blues not being so great for gaming. But I disagree. Its not bad, just different. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm not having any problems. Besides, I like how loud it is :v:
