I run TF2 on a T9300 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo and a 4830, and I max it out at a higher resolution that the OP mentioned (1600x900) at 60+ FPS. And even though the CPU isn't that new, it's still a triple core. He'll be fine if he buys a 4850, or even a 4670.

No shit. It's a 4670. Don't expect us to say we're maxing at 1920x1200.
Nonetheless, we are maxing it out at a decent resolution.
I ran it at 1400x1050.
