Old rubber domes.. So terrible.. Makes typing on school computers miserable lol
Buy a poker, bring it with you everywhere. so sexy
Besides macro keys do many Mech boards have many misc keys like media buttons or volume knobs?
My Black Widow has a FN button and then media controls linked to the F buttons.. I preferred My G19's actual media buttons but eh, I'm getting used to this pretty quick.
Besides macro keys do many Mech boards have many misc keys like media buttons or volume knobs?
The Corsair K90 and K60 have media keys and a volume knob (a scroller, actually) and media buttons. The Razer Blackwidow Ultimate has no extra keys for that but it has a set of media keys on F1-F8 through FN-modifiers.
In that case, what are people's opinions of the K60-90? I feel silly for asking. But even after following this topic for a while I still feel kind of confused as to all the options.

Apparently the k60 has problems with fading keys http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=103210 I already bought one before I saw this, but I don't care really. Not right now anyway
Laser etching burns black into the keys because, well duh, burnt plastic is black, so they fill it with paint filler, and the filler fades.
Laser etching burns black into the keys because, well duh, burnt plastic is black, so they fill it with paint filler, and the filler fades.
Guess if that ever happens to me on my K90, I'll have to use the backlighting 24/7 :v: Nah, I know where all the keys are anyway so..
Now when I think about it it isn't actually the W key, it's LShift. And it's not about the activation force, it's about the fact that the force from the spring is linear. Red switches has a maximum force response WHILE they are active, while the tactile keys (with the notch in the receiver or whatever) has a maximum response force just BEFORE the key is activated. Note that I'm comparing experience to an old worn down rubber-domed, mind. Once they're down, my old keys required practically no force at all to remain in the pressed position.
This, it's actually so annoying that I am beginning to prefer typing on domes compared to my 7G Can't be beat for gaming though, however it took ages for my fingers to become used to applying the full actuation force for long periods of time Might have to acquire a keyboard with some nice browns
Still rocking my Das Model S Professional. I've had it for a year now. Still the best keyboard I've ever used.
How much of a fingerprint magnet is that glossy surface?
It's hardly a problem on my end since I only touches the keys and not the glossy surface itself, even after 3 months of usage on my DAS it's still fingerprint free looking. Only problem I have is dust getting visibly stuck between the edges of the keys themselves (my room is naturally dusty no matter how clean or empty it is). Other than that it's a good keyboard.
My K90 came this morning  Will take a picture later. Unfortunately it takes the width of my tray on the desk and putting it on the upper part where my monitor is, is too high. So, I need a new desk. I LOVE this keyboard. Just looks and feels great. My dad ordered one straight after he saw mine :v: I had to explain to him the cherry switches. He was familiar with mechanical keyboards back in the day but not these switches, so I advised him to get the cherry brown on the basis he would be typing a lot and not gaming.. but his PC is one of them touchscreens where there rest of the PC is inside the monitor, it has blue glowing led's on the base so is the reason why he wants this K90 too, as it fits in. £100, must buy the keyboard today, must be in England, quick what should I buy?
Why you rushing? [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline] Also, on that K90, did they cheap out and make the functions and shit all membrane? Because that's really dumb imo, I'd hate having to feel shitty membrane keys whenever I use the function keys which I happen to use alot. Also, I feel like I'd like that keyboard alot more if they just used all mechanical switches, and had proper casing and not just a flat brushed aluminum board. :argh:
Fuck it I bought a Das ultimate, I hadto spend the money quickly before paypal took it out for being cocks, they can wait until I get paid next week to steal my hard earned dole money. Hopefully I made the right choice with the Das, heard their build quality was iffy? It was expensive so I hope not.

Function, G keys and the page up/down area are membrane. I never have the use for the membrane keys, minus Escape which I WISH they made mechanical. However, the rest of the keys such as the letters, numbers, etc, arrows, numpad are ALL mechanical. Despite them flaws, this really does look and feels like an amazing keyboard. I would only suggest this if you want a keyboard with backlighting/looks magnificent and someone who has no care that some keys are membrane. I admit, it's annoying but a decent idea to key the cost down of the keyboard by only making the keys used the most, mechanical. Overall, I am glad to have paid £95 for excellent build quality, looks and function. Most likely in the future, I might grab a Cherry Brown keyboard for writing/typing use so there's more of a click. As good as Cherry Reds are for gaming, they do get a bit exhausting when typing after a while. The gaming on this though is second to none, amazing response times.

I haven't found any issues with the construction and when I was looking around for reviews I didn't read anything that said the quality was crap -- so i'm not sure where you heard that.

It's a fine keyboard though.
I'll probably buy a K90 after my next paycheck.
I think I might have just found an old wireless Logitech white alps board. Can anyone confirm if they ever made one? [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] If you're wondering, the reason I can't confirm it myself is that there appears to be text on the one switch I've looked at, but I can't read it.

I just checked another switch, and it appears to be a plunger. Though it sounds like the switches are plate mounted, which is kind of odd for a dome board.
I'll probably buy a K90 after my next paycheck.
Don't, cheap design.
My 6Gv2 has broke. The 'one/exclamation mark' button no longer works. What do?
Switch the switch.
Don't, cheap design.
Are you kidding? This keyboard is sturdy as fuck. Okay it might not be steel, it's brushed aluminium. But it's NOT all plastic. I see this as fantastic build quality.
I have a k60 and it seems very well built

I am talking about the keys. 1/5th of the keys are rubber domes. That's totally not okay.
