I do not touch my keyboard's sides and throw it around all day to care about the casing. I am talking about the keys. 1/5th of the keys are rubber domes. That's totally not okay.
Then of course don't buy one. My "review" on the last page states that this keyboard isn't for everyone, if you want a fully mech keyboard. Having some membrane keys doesn't affect the overall build quality though.. the membrane keys look exactly the same as the mech's, it's just the feel of it of course. There's no complaining if you rarely use the function keys or the page up/down/delete. My only gripe is that they didn't mech the ESC button.
I'd like to know how they didn't manage to get all mechanical switches with the keyboards costing $80-$130 there are others in the same price range that do the same thing and they have all mech switches
because you're paying for ~lights~ and ~g keys~
I'd like to know how they didn't manage to get all mechanical switches with the keyboards costing $80-$130 there are others in the same price range that do the same thing and they have all mech switches
I have no idea, could be because the rest of them boards in the price range use plastic to compensate (as well as said above, lights and G keys). But to be honest, Corsair's first plunge into the Keyboard market. Sure they'll rectify their mistakes. Most likely the sacrifice of not all mech keys will be the lights, but that doesn't bother me as I do 95% of my usage on the mech keys anyway. I just wanted a pretty backlit keyboard to look at.
I just wanted a pretty backlit keyboard to look at.
All my rage. Backlit keyboards should've never-ever been invented.
All my rage. Backlit keyboards should've never-ever been invented.
Hey, not everyone can type/play without looking at a keyboard once in a while. And there's not exactly lots of lights on at a LAN party. That said, I wish you could get a keyboard with a neutral warm white backlight.

Anyone bought anything off Getdigital.de? Bought a Das ultimate from them, money taken out of my account, no order confirmation email, dispatch email nor is the order under my "recent order" area, the only customer service is some German phone number..
then you shouldn't be looking at mechanical keyboards
For what reason other than you being elitist?
For what reason other than you being elitist?
you're wasting your money and the potential of the keyboard if you can't touch type perfectly, which implies you're probably not getting over 100 wpm [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] and yeah, I'm elitist about certain things and so are a lot of people, get over it people who know nothing about computers shouldn't have phase changed 2700K 7970 CFX setups people who suck at games shouldn't concern themselves with buying the best mice people who can't type for shit shouldn't be looking at mechanical keyboards etc
All my rage. Backlit keyboards should've never-ever been invented.
I can type pretty fast without looking. I just loved the blue this backlight gave. It fitted in SO much with what I have with my computer already, etc. Last couple of days i've been having to look at the keyboard to re-adjust. This keyboard moves each key over by one so when I go to press A, I accidentally press caps lock, etc, so it's just a case of getting used to this. Just when I have the light off, this backlight just looks so space like, it's more for style personally, than substance.
Quick question, is it normal if I hear a high pitched ping sound or am I just pressing the keys too harshly?
Quick question, is it normal if I hear a high pitched ping sound or am I just pressing the keys too harshly?
That doesn't sound normal [editline]5th March 2012[/editline]
you're wasting your money and the potential of the keyboard if you can't touch type perfectly, which implies you're probably not getting over 100 wpm [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] and yeah, I'm elitist about certain things and so are a lot of people, get over it people who know nothing about computers shouldn't have phase changed 2700K 7970 CFX setups people who suck at games shouldn't concern themselves with buying the best mice people who can't type for shit shouldn't be looking at mechanical keyboards etc
Suggesting a person with a WPM below 100 somehow can't appreciate the superior feeling of a mechanical keyboard is astronomically retarded. As is the idea that someone who wants a long-lasting quality mouse but isn't a gamer shouldn't be looking at expensive mice. You're a massive tool.

This is my first mechanical keyboard and I love the feel of it. If people didn't like the feel of mechanical keyboards, then they wouldn't be saying "once you go mechanical, you never go back". Pretty sure that's not just about the durability of the keyboards, but the feel. You can't change someone's opinion of something or their reason for getting one.
That doesn't sound normal
It only happens with the T button I think. [editline]5th March 2012[/editline] I don't know if I should remove the key and see what's happening. [editline]5th March 2012[/editline] I looked up the problem and I think it's common for the majestouch 2. Damn, guess I will have to live with it.

Especially this bit:
there's no real quality difference between mice right now
Go try a dime-a-Dozen Dell optical mouse and then a Logitech Performance Mouse MX. Now tell me which one of those would be comfortable to use for more than 15 minutes?

There's a difference between being an asshole and wanting someone to make an informed purchase that'll get him the most out of his money.
Then I won't get a K90... >_>
There's a difference between being an asshole and wanting someone to make an informed purchase that'll get him the most out of his money.
yes, and if you read my post correctly, you would see that I in fact care the most about someone buying exactly what they need
yes, and if you read my post correctly, you would see that I in fact care the most about someone buying exactly what they need
If someone likes the feel of a mechanical keyboard, and wants one, regardless of what they type at or if they sometimes have to look down, then let them get one, and help them get one that'll be best for them. Don't go "you can't type above 100wpm? hahahaha these aren't for you" because that's completely ridiculous. I've converted tons of people who have used my old Filco and loved it, and they got a mechanical for themselves regardless if they typed below a "pathetic" 80 wpm. To make another car analogy; just because someone isn't a professional driver doesn't mean they can't enjoy giving a sports car a bit of throttle down an empty road.
This seems like the appropriate place to ask. How would I go about improving at touch typing?
This seems like the appropriate place to ask. How would I go about improving at touch typing?
play FPS where if you don't type quickly you're going to get knifed [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] that's how I learned.
This seems like the appropriate place to ask. How would I go about improving at touch typing?
At first I played a few typing games and flash games that even shows you which finger should be going where. After I played them for a bit and had a good idea of which finger should be typing on which keys I just started forcing myself to touch type. If I ever accidentally typed without touch typing I would delete what I wrote and write it again. Eventually it sticked in my head and I naturally do it, I even have my fingers resting on the home keys without thinking about it.
It's not how I learned but I'd imagine Typing of the Dead is a pretty good way of teaching yourself to touch type
