What kind of switch?
Cherry blue, I have a plate mounted board so I had to desolder it to open it, the stem was broke. :( So I'm switching it with pause break, but I'm still wanting another key, if anyone has one for sale I'll buy it. [editline]10th May 2012[/editline] I see that they're on sale on some sites for cheap. I'll just order like two.
I tried using my Model M for gaming but it cancels the commands when I press two keys down at that same time. Example: If I move forward and I want to jump while moving forward I press the spacebar. Once I press the spacebar I stop moving after jumping. I feel like having two buttons down at the same time cancels both of the commands. Its kinda weird and has made gaming with my Model M impossible. I was wondering if it is a hardware issue which means its broken, or that it is a known issue with the keyboard.

Just deep-cleaned my das mx brown keyboard, soooo worth the 1 1/2 hours.
I'm thinking about modding my Das keyboard to have white LED cherry switches with some laser etched key caps for the light to shine through. It's going to take alto of tedious work getting each and ever switch out.
My model M certainly doesn't do that, yours is probably broken.
The weird thing is that it still types PERFECTLY...probably the best keyboard ive ever used. Ill have to see if I could fix it.
woah woah, what's this? Recorded this yesterday. You'll probably want to turn up your volume. I have yet to teach myself how to properly touch type (tried GNUTypist but gave up quickly), but I'm okay with my current style for now. It's usually pretty accurate and it's fast enough for me.
Up for sale is, an IBM Model M. The keyboard itself is in good shape but it is a bit dusty, it is missing the cable. Price starts at $40 Or best offer + shipping. all the keys have buckling springs which make a nice and clicky noise and have a somewhat tactile feel, all of the springs are not rusted, 3 - 5 are slightly bent but it still works. Edited: I will put pictures up after I have cleaned out the keyboard as the previous owner was very messy... This one was also made in 87. I am in the process of washing the keycaps as they have some dirt and dust I don't feel like scrubbing by hand as I fear I will wear off the paint so I am running them through the dishwasher.

Plus there is no cable.
$40 is too steep unless it is a Silver label or an Industrial. Plus there is no cable.
Thats why I had put up or best offer, I'm really not stuck on the price. Also how do I know if its industrial? I'll sell it for pretty much anything, just trying to pay my sister back and I'm selling off crap I dont need.
Das Keyboard + G700 make a nice combo. The small wireless receiver matches well on the side of the keyboard

I love old clacky keyboards, my dad picked up a box of 20 unused old keyboards from a school nearby, they're awesome (can't remember what brand though) I absolutely HATE softer keyboards, especially mac keyboards, I think I'd rip my own hair out if I had to use one for gaming, my laptop is bad enough.
I'll sell it for $20 + shipping if someone buys it in the next 3 days.
Just got my Corsair K60 today. Cherry MX Reds feel great to type on. I've never tried a mechanical keyboard before this. mmmmmmmmmm
Just ordered a CM Storm Quickfire, with Blues. Gonna be a very nice change from this logitech slim rubberdome I have right now
Just ordered a CM Storm Quickfire, with Blues. Gonna be a very nice change from this logitech slim rubberdome I have right now
The Quickfire is pretty nice, I have to say. Just be prepared for noise with the blues.
Where can I buy the CM Storm Quickfire (Red or Black)? I can't find any on ebay or amazon. I'm just looking for a red or black cherry switch keyboard and the CM Storm Quickfire seems too have good reviews but the red and blacks are non-existent...

Yeah I found blue switches too noisy and was looking for a quieter switch. Is brown noticeably quieter than blue switches? If so, I can do with brown switches, thanks!
Whats the opinion on bottoming out keys? I'm sure I could learn to not bottom out.. will it make a difference to my BW sound? (I would just go test it out but I gave it to a friend for the time being) Typing on a G510 atm lol
Bottoming out has always been how I've typed. To not bottom out would be difficult.

Touch typing is where you learn to only depress the key far enough to activate it. its usually faster but harder to master especially if you're on a rubber dome switch or a linear switch (black or red Mx switchs).
Model M still for sale, $20 + shipping no cable and its clean and all the springs are fine.

Yeah touch typing is where you do not look at the keys to type, that is pretty easy to do if your keyboard does not have any of the labels on them like mine does.
This isn't a mechanical keyboard, is it? Sorry for the noob question.
