It is a mystery. The amount of guys I know who own the Black Widow is incredible, when there are miles better keyboards out there. Yet they insist that it is the best keyboard for gaming, the fools! So glad I live in the same town as where Scan is located, means I got to try out numerous keyboards before I started splashing out the cash.
Don't even get me started on the BlackWidow. I have one and it's biggest regret ever, I cannot wait to get my filco.
So using these sites: http://www.dabs.ie/ http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/site/KomplettHome.aspx http://www.dabs.ie/ Could anybody find me a good mechanical keyboard that wont break the bank. Maybe 70-80 euro? I don't really want it to look like an oldschool keyboard, it would be nice if the thing looked decent or had backlit keys or something, but if you guys see anything please let me know. Planning on getting a Razor Deathadder mice so I want to get a decent keyboard to go with it

http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/gaming_keyboards/80003959/razer_black_widow_gaming_keyboard/details.aspx Your other option would be to look at places like Scan, Aria or Microdirect which are based in England and see how much it would be for you to get a mechanical including shipping. The sites you linked us to do not stock a lot of variety in mechanicals.
Would you show me nice one on one of those sites then and I can look at it?
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-cm-storm-sgk-4000-gkcc1-quickfire-rapid-mechanical-cherry-mx-gaming-keyboard This keyboard is really good value for money. It comes in under your budget, but that is without delivery, which you can expect to cost around 15 euros extra, which would bring the total to around 93 euros overall. Unless you buy second hand or get extremely lucky, you'll be hard pressed to find a mechanical for less including delivery. As with most mechanical keyboards it will last you a long time, so while it may seem expensive, it's a good investment in the long run.
Looks nice but it would be nice to have a numpad also :S
So what are the benefits of a mechanical keyboard?
Once you get one you will despise typing on rubber dome keyboards. Its one of those "You dont know what your missing" kinda things. Once you buy a ferrari you just cant go back to driving a beater. Feels so good. Also I can type longer / easier on mechs.
So what are the benefits of a mechanical keyboard?
For some unknown reason. I find it much more enjoyable to type on a mechanical keyboard than a rubber dome. Increased productivity if your job consist of mostly typing I guess.
So I'm sick of my crappy 3kro $10 keyboard and I'm looking for a new keyboard mostly for $200 or under. It would be used for a lot of gaming and I would prefer something on the softer side when typing as the room is shared with two other people. I'm not concerned with the look.

First result in Google(Australia) for Filco was this http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/info/KE-FKBN104ML-EFB2/1275/ which is advertised as having "no click action when you press down" and I like the print layout on the front so it seems like a pretty good choice.
No click action just means it isnt a tactile switch (linear switch) Red and Black are linear.
Looks nice but it would be nice to have a numpad also :S
Any particular reason you HAVE to have a number pad? This has a number pad, partial backlighting and overall good build quality. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-storm-quickfire-pro-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-with-partial-red-led-backlight-on You'll have to save up some more though. Looking at 110 euros including delivery. You could always just go with the BlackWidow, but I personally wouldn't recommend one to anyone. A good quality, brand new, out of the box mechanical, with numberpad doesn't usually come cheap.
I'm really tempted to buy a Unicomp. Do they ghost too much? (using PS2) ?
Any mechanical keyboards that have a blue LED that you could recommend?
Any mechanical keyboards that have a blue LED that you could recommend?
The Corsair K90. http://komplett.ie/Komplett/product/gaming_keyboards/20098414/corsair_vengeance_k90_gaming_keyboard_usb/details.aspx Nice keyboard, blue backlighting, media keys, volume scroller, macro keys. Bear in mind the Esc, F1-12, Macro keys, and the home row are not mechanical. But the numberpad, and the main keys are. Also, looking at your budget, you will have to save up a little.
Ah I can pay that, just want to know if it's good. There are two versions of the Black Widow, what's the difference? also what's the difference between mechanical keyboards and say the keyboards you got with dell desktops 5+ years ago? Should I just buy that corsair one??

It's not as good to type on, takes more effort to type on, and won't last nearly as long as a Mechanical. The difference between the regular BlackWidow and and Ultimate is the ultimate is backlit, while the regular one isn't, and the ultimate has a headphone and mic jack, and I don't think the regular BlackWidow has a USB port either, although I'm not entirely sure about the last point. I'd personally go with the K90 if you really want backlit keys, that or the CM Storm with partial backlighting that I showed you in a previous post. And yes, The K90 and the CM Storm are good quality keyboards, I had a go on both of them while I was choosing a mechanical myself.
Black widow standard - blue switches, no extra ports, no backlight black widow silent - brown switches, same as standard otherwise ultimate - backlighting and extra ports.

I would honestly recommend either a Ducky Shine or a K90 over them to anyone who wants glowy stuff.
I don't particularly want glowy but if it was glowy I would want a blue glow because the mouse I have has a blue glow haha. So the k90 is the one I should get. does it have usb slots or anything???

Also you really want to be using PS/2 for keyboards (especially high end mechs) because of the increased key rollover.
Sorry for sounding dumb but could you explain what PS/2 is? And what key rollover is ha? And why I would want it
PS/2 is that round S-Video looking connector
Sorry for sounding dumb but could you explain what PS/2 is? And what key rollover is ha? And why I would want it
Key Rollover is how many keys you can press at once and have register. PS/2 is the pink/green port(s) on the back of your motherboard.
Oh so instead of connecting with USB I connect with the PS/2??
Oh so instead of connecting with USB I connect with the PS/2??
OH FOR FUCK SAKE YES. Get a filco and shut up.
OH FOR FUCK SAKE YES. Get a filco and shut up.
Why don't you stop being an asshole you neckbeard cunt
Ladies, put your handbags down and behave like adults (even if you aren't). PS/2 does have many benefits over the use of USB, and yes, the K90 does have a USB hub for you to plug a mouse into. Whether it supports PS/2 I'm not sure though.
