Welp 80 bucks for a year, or 150 for 15-20 years, your choice I guess.
are you seriously going to hold on to the same keyboard for upwards to 20 years
are you seriously going to hold on to the same keyboard for upwards to 20 years
Well, my dad has been using his Model M for about 24, and he has a PC that's shitloads nicer and better than mine along with crazy good audio equipment, and it still feels better than a membrane, so I dunno, I might. e: He also got it for free. :v:
Anyone seen the KBC Poker? [thumb]http://puu.sh/gafy[/thumb] oh god [editline]8th February 2012[/editline] why do i like small things so much? it looks amazing
You like small things? heuheuheuheuheu. How much do the quality mechanicals usually cost? And are there any what are quiet but tactile? Or I mean, silent-ish.
MX Clears.
The blackwidow isn't as bad as everyone's making it out to be. It's the cheapest modern mechanical available, made by a name-brand company. If you get a board that doesn't have QC issues you're golden. I bought mine used from QuikKill and I would have just as happily bought it new. The only thing I don't like is the corn "gaymen" font they used for the keys but what can I do. It's still a pleasure to type on and doesn't cost more than other keyboards. For the record my Blackwidow is the ultimate and I've had none of the problems anyone has mentioned, ever. Totally blown out of proportion IMO.
not even close
not even close
Thank you for promoting the discussion without providing examples so I can correct myself in the future.

Hey guys, looking to get a new mechanical keyboard to replace my current Aldi trash. After doing a bit of research I'm thinking I'll probably get the Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate Silent Keyboard. It's fucking expensive though, $135 (USD I guess) from their main site and an Australian retailer is selling it for $156.20AUD including freight anywhere in the country. I guess you all have more experience with this though so I'll wait for your input, but I just want a general purpose keyboard. I'll probably be doing some gaming, but also a fair amount of typing with it. I don't want heaps of noise. From these points I picked the Cherry MX Browns, and from there the Das. Any comments?
The Das is one of the best mechanical keyboard brands out there iirc, and with mechanical keyboards it's a very cost-to-quality relationship. That thing'll probably last you years if you give it the care it deserves. I'd say go for it if you can spend the dosh. I could never use a blank key keyboard, though :v: not that good of a typist.
if you're a student take advantage of it, they give discounts for students
No dice
The educational discount program is only available to U.S. residents as we do not ship internationally.
I could buy it and ship it to a friend in america and have him ship it to me but that's a lot of hassle and probably not worth it. I don't know if I'd end up getting it any cheaper than just buying the one the australian reseller has
Should I sell my G19 and use the cash to get a Black Widow? Not sure if I'd go Stealth or not, I use my keyboard when others asleep on the other side of a wall.. but I've never heard a mech keyboard
http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide#post_6025204 fourth result in google for "mechanical keyboard"
Somewhat irrelevant to the discussion but I'd just like to point out that google search results are targeted based on browsing history and such, that link wasn't even on the first page for me.
Thank you for promoting the discussion without providing examples so I can correct myself in the future.
Cherry G80 3000's are cheaper. Far cheaper.

I am loving my new Filco Majestouch 2 (blue switches) that just arrived today. I've never had a mechanical keyboard before and this feels so good to type on, and I am loving the clicky noise.
can you please fix the links in the op also could someone recommend me a nice mech that isn't loud as fuck on newegg?
Reading some computer magazine they review some logitech mechanical and put "Price is too high for a keyboard" and "Noise" as cons :v:

It's also really clunky and difficult to type on. In addition, it's a massive fucking pain when you're trying to sleep in the same room as the person using it.
Or he could not type like a ham-fisted ape.
Even I find it difficult to type "normally" after using a rubber dome and then trying the MX blacks, overall it's still a very clunky and loud keyboard.
Even I find it difficult to type "normally" after using a rubber dome and then trying the MX blacks, overall it's still a very clunky and loud keyboard.
Well the sound is because hes bottoming out the keys hard (you can buy dampeners), once you get used to typing on it you learn not to slam the keys so hard. But Cherry Blacks are definitely a huge jump if that's your first mechanical, I learned the hard way when I bought my first mechanical and it had black keys. Then I got reds and fell in love.

I find myself bottoming out keys frequently (Probably because I get used to my laptop's keyboard).
