I can sort of touchtype but I'd never buy a keyboard without writing on the keys :v:
I would, but I suspect mum would rage if she was looking for something like $ or ( ) or something... something that I just hit without thinking but that I know she looks for... even though she's basically spent the last 8 years at work on a computer daily for several hours lol...
I can sort of touchtype but I'd never buy a keyboard without writing on the keys :v:
But it's so sexy! :(
I'd just tell my friends to use the laptop's keyboard, haha. I haven't had any issues without keycap inscriptions--also it's loud as hell, apparently it can be heard from the other side of my apartment :v:
I want to get one of those DasKeyboards in the clicky blue version, I've been using a rubber dome Logitech G110 for a while now since it offered a lot for the price, but I don't have any satisfying clicky noise. It's just a dead squishy noise.
You could always use Clickey for the time being and get an artificial audio click:v:. But no seriously, I can't afford to use tactile key switches cause they make too much damn noise my dorm hall and so I resort to using this app in conjunction with a linear keyswitch... :( 'better than nothing I guess.
clickkey is a piece of shit it doesn't work well at all, I downloaded it and after the 300+ letters I have typed I have only heard 7 clicks.
Well, it works perfectly fine for me so no complaints here.
Works fine, but sounds completely fake. Also, lags ever so little behind key presses due to how the program gets it's input and converts to audio output.
yeah, I'd prefer silence over what it offers
Out of curiosity I tried clickkey, and I'm sorry, but I cannot comprehend how anyone can use this. The millisecond delay just kills any possible use this could have.
And the sound packs are pretty bad on top of that IMO lol
Well that too. I'd assume I could do some simple hack on it to change the sound, but you know what? I don't even want to.
Why are some of these so expensive? I can go to the local electronics recycling center and find dozens of them for free
Why are some of these so expensive? He probably means Model M's ect.
He probably means Model M's ect.
if so then probably because they are old and most of the people dont want mechanical keybaords because they think its an old and cheap technology
most people throw out model M's because of how they look in reality they don't give a single fuck about what is inside them
People are throwing out Model M's? FUCKING WHERE?!
People are throwing out Model M's? FUCKING WHERE?!
you probably won't find one. Go to your nearest electronics dump, you might find one there.
Most of the electronic dumps near me know what mechanical keyboards are and keep them separate and sell them for an increased price. I have even walked into used electronic stores that have been in business since the 1980's and even they know. Some people just are not that stupid.

I have a Steel Series 7. It's nice, but I would prefer a model M.
I have a Steel Series 7. It's nice, but I would prefer a model M.
Looking to buy one? Possibly even trade?
Speaking of model M's, I've got one missing a cable that I'll give to someone if they pay shipping. its a standard one and I think its missing 2 - 3 keycaps ( the caps that go over the actual keys themselves )

[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Goddamn I would absolutely love a Model M-13. Dat trackspot.
Just like this its a standard model M with the buckling springs.
