Aw I was almost going to preorder that with my 50% off code but then I realised I would have to abandon my beloved facepunch sticker
Heatgun it off. [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] Or sell me your 50% code so I can buy one cheaper.
Still rocking my Das Model S Professional. Nearing two years old now, still works like the day I bought it. Piano black finish is pretty worn and dirty, though. :v:
Damn, seeing this post reminds just how long I have been running this thread.
Is there a mechanical keyboard which is like the Steelseries G6V2 and it's media keys (Or separate media keys, doesnt really matter) which is also backlit? I used to have a G6V2 but it broke, it was a great keyboard but i like to keep it dark in my room and sometimes it was hard to find certain buttons I rarely use and haven't memorized. Therefore I would like the backlight. Help will be highly appreciated.

Bahaha I have an old HP keyboard (KB-9970) And the spacebar is loud as fuck Might not be mechanical, but I still love this thing.
Hey guys, I'm in a need of a new keyboard and I was thinking about trying out a mechanical one. I've never had a mechanical keyboard before, this is my current keyboard. I play a lot of Dota 2. My price range is around $100 and under.
What are you looking for in a keyboard? Any specific features?
Not really. Maybe some backlights, but that's about it. My current keyboard had neat features like macros and a detatchable numpad, but I never really took advantage of them.
Ducky Shine might suit you then.
it pains me to use a regular keyboard at college now fuck sake facepunch
After typing on a model M for months I was in college and I attempted to use an apple ~~minimalistic~~ keyboard It was horrendous and my fingertips hurt from the fact the keys depress about a milimeter so you end up stabbing at the cheap insides before you even know it Don't get me started on the mighty mouse and it's asshat scroll nub thingy :v:
I feel your pain... I CANNOT use a mechanical keyboard now without my fingers aching in pain. And its funny cause I only used my mechanical keyboard for like, 4 days and I was already adapted to it. I can still type faster on my comfort curve 2000 though since I had been used to that shape for almost 4 years.
What would you recommend to someone looking for a mechanical keyboard that has a matte black (or other colours) finish and preferably without the numpad? I am looking for something with both sound and tactile feel so I guess Cherry Blues?
a Leopold keyboard or a quickfire rapid. [editline]10th October 2012[/editline] Leopold http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rcab# Quick-Fire Rapid http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823129002

If you want something that will last you until the next ice age then a tenkeyless Filco would be good. If you're on more of a budget then a Leopold.

I suppose I could ask here. I made a thread in fast threads, but someone pointed me here.
Well, Facepunch, I need your help. I did something stupid to my keyboard. I have a Razer Blackwidow Keyboard, the standard, not tournament if that matters, and last night an incident where I spilled my drink on it. I dried it out and let it sit overnight, and it technically still works. The keys all work when they're pressed and all that, however, a few of the keys got sticky because of the arnold palmer. Specifically my backspace, /, and Function keys got it the worst. Is there any way I can clean these out? Its really annoying to tap my backspace key and have it erase half of what I wrote. Problem is its mechanical, so I don't think getting the thing open and cleaning it out is a possibility. Hopefully my stupidity didn't fuck this keyboard over for good.
From what I know of mechanical keyboard, I'm feeling pretty screwed, but I figured I'd ask anyways.
Any really cheap mechanical keyboards? I only have about $10 for now :v:
Any really cheap mechanical keyboards? I only have about $10 for now :v:
I would go to a second-hand shop and or recycling center and search if I were you. 9/10 of all times you won't find a good mechanical one, but it's worth a try. You might find one of those really old ones that still work
So I finally decided to buy a mechanical keyboard. Either the Corsair k60 or das keyboard. What is the big difference of these too and which one should I buy? And also are wasd keycaps compatible to one of those keyboards?
I suppose I could ask here. I made a thread in fast threads, but someone pointed me here. [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] WITHOUT SOAP. [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] And if its fucked, don't buy another razer board.

So who actually makes THE best brown switched keyboard? [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] Also I feel that these belong in the OP. http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keyboard-accessories-2/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html

Filcos are the best mechanicals (since the only thing that separates boards using the same switches is build quality and Filco are regarded to have the best).
I guess I'll be picking up a filco in 3 - 6 months.

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keyboard-accessories-2/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html
Now I haven't used dampeners before but I noticed they also have a 0.4mm "firm" o-ring (50A-R) which supposedly keeps the hard feedback from bottoming out. I would really like to use the 0.4mm as spacers as I want to have a tactile bottom-out feel but without the effort of depressing the key all of the way (I have mx Blacks). Has anyone used the 50A-R? How does the bottom-out action compare to normal bottom-out's on an MX Black? I want the hard-hitting plastic-on-plastic feel without depressing all the way.
