How easy is it to clean a Das Pro? As in, under the keys and everything
Pretty trivial. I find that a medium size paperclip's silverish metal part does a great job at hooking on key corners and pulling them out. I should probably film the technique but it's not hard to figure out. Be careful with the Das, certain keys have metal stabilizers and those can break if not removed properly.
Extremely easy. Cherry MX Keycaps are by far the easiest to remove.
Easier than my Microsoft media keyboard?
The process for deep cleaning that is Remove keys, remove front plate, throw in back yard, blast with hose :v:
I just ordered a Rosewill RK-9000 with Cherry MX Blues.
For the longest time, I've looked at this thread and scoffed at the idea of spending so much money on a keyboard.
But today I went to Best Buy because they had the washable Logitech keyboard which I was planning on buying, and I saw that they had the Razer mechanical keyboards, and the boxes have an opening where you could press the keys. I'd never pressed a mechanical key in, but once I did, I knew that there was no way I could get that Logitech keyboard. It was extremely satisfying pressing those keys in. I didn't want to stop.
Of course, I wasn't going to be silly and buy a leet pro mlg razer gaming mechanical keyboard from best buy, so once I got home I ordered the Rosewill one.
This is going to be fantastic.

Smart man, I don't know if I would of been smart enough to avoic the Razer keyboard if it was my first experience with a mechanical keyboard
What would be my dream keyboard is a washable mechanical keyboard, so I don't have to worry about spilling drinks near it :v:
Is there such thing as a backlit tenkeyless board? I'm not going to purchase now, I have no money, but just I'm wondering for the future
Is there such thing as a backlit tenkeyless board? I'm not going to purchase now, I have no money, but just I'm wondering for the future
Yeah, Ducky, Filco and Choco I think.
Yeah, Ducky, Filco and Choco I think.
I think that VorTex/KBC were doing one too. Also I haven't seen a backlit tkl Filco before.
Just got my Filco with blues, and I had a bit of an issue with the C key. It got stuck under the tactile point. Spamming the key a few times made it come back up again, and it seems fine now. Is this something to worry about, or is it something that can happen before you wear in blue switches?
I've never heard of that, but switches are easy to repair/replace and if you got a bad one I'm sure they'd get it sorted for you, they are a quality company

It was probably just because it was new, if it functions fine now it'll probably stay fine

Hasn't happened again, so it's probably nothing. I have to say, blues feel really different to browns. Not sure which i prefer yet, but the blues seem like they have a much stiffer tactile point.
Is it just me or are backlit keyboards ugly?
Is it just me or are backlit keyboards ugly?
I personally hate stuff that is over the top, i.e. CM Quickfire Pro
but I think there's some elegance to simpler things like the Ducky or Das.
'all personal preference really.
so, i might be able to get a mechanical keyboard in the upcoming months
are rosewill mech keyboards good, or just good for the price?

I've personally never had a problem with them, but one of my co-workers has had one fail on him.
They are pretty cheap in comparison to a filco or das though (but what isn't?).
I honestly think it's better to save up a another $20-40 for something higher quality. That said, the rosewill's are truly a budget keyboard when you can snag the frequent deals they have on Newegg.
Hey, I like my QF Pro :v: . They aren't bad with partial backlighting for $80 - $90.
And speaking of Rosewill deals...

~$64 not too bad.
Hmm if I was still on a membrane keyboard I think that I would hope on that deal. Nice find.
I just got a tenkeyless Cherry MX brown keyboard. It's pretty nice so far but it's my first mechanical keyboard and it's using a universal layout rather than whatever layout my previous keyboard was using.
Oh man I got my Rosewill keyboard with the mx blues. Typing has never been this satisfying. TAKAKTAKTAKATAKTAKTA.
Also I went to order it from newegg but for whatever reason, Newegg can't ship it to Illinois, so I went and ordered it from Rosewill through Amazon.
But when it arrived, it was in a newegg box. I've never been so confused in my life.

Well Rosewill is owned by Newegg.
Its like their in house brand.

Shit, I thought that was common knowledge.
'some more awesome deals for those still looking for cheap mechs.
~$55 (after rebate) Cooler Master Storm QuickFire Pro:

Huh, that really explains a lot.
Fascinating.
gross who drinks generic cola! is that what we're cringing at? because the keyboard deserves it for being awful
Hmm

I sometimes fancy a nice drink of plain cola... And you seriously can't tell me that you've NEVER owned a shitty keyboard.
this is a mechanical keyboard thread and you need to calm down

I'm not even mad.
has anyone bought a http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10850&cs_id=1080906&p_id=9433&seq=1&format=2 yet? I don't see why they aren't more popular, $50 for a mechanical MX blue keyboard...
