Hey everyone, I know you most likely get this question a lot but I'm looking for a new keyboard for gaming that's under £100. I've been looking at the Razer BlackWidow but I know that Razer items aren't recommended for some reason. If possible something that follows this: No macro keys Media keys to turn down volume while in game (Wanted but not necessary) Backlit keys (if possible) Unless there is anything that I need to think about. Could you help me find something please? Cheers.
I would suggest a CM Storm Quickfire, really, but that doesn't have the backlit keys. Ducky Shine would suit your more, I guess.

Would anyone happen to know why a model m would be mistyping? All of the keys are fine except for the g, h, and n keys.

But will that replacement Windows still work fine as a Windows key? Cause I use that key when playing ARMA 2 (Silly question but I just want to be sure).

My friend owns a newer Blackwidow. Its..actually not that bad. It looks REALLY nice in matte black, I have to say. It feels alright to type on, of course.
Black widows are very nice if you can get them CHEAP. Like if you can get an ultimate for less then $90, it's fucking amazing. Its just the fact that they are like $140 and for that price you can get a storm trigger, K90 or a ducky shine or a DAS. They will outlast any rubber dome keyboard for sure, they just aren't good for the $140 price tag.
I'm still on a crummy old keyboard temporarily, but after doing a lot of searching, I suppose I'll just go with the Das. To deal with the lack of an audio output, I'll be getting a new speaker set soon like the Corsair SP2500 or Logitech Z623 where I'll be able to plug in my earbuds when I want to.

It feels great (like all mechanicals) and I think it was a good investment.
Seems like the Storm Trigger is what I'm going to go for. Just one last question is which Cherry MX switches are best for gaming?
Seems like the Storm Trigger is what I'm going to go for. Just one last question is which Cherry MX switches are best for gaming?
Debatable really. Depends on preference and the game mostly, but Red and Black are almost always the ones used in mechanical boards labelled as "Gaming." Blue and Brown are fine as well, and Brown would be the best middle ground if you do a lot of gaming and typing.
Thinking about getting a Sidewinder X4 since I'm broke and my keyboards from 2001. Any other recommendations?
Bought the CM Storm Trigger (Brown). Thanks for the help guys! :)
Thinking about getting a Sidewinder X4 since I'm broke and my keyboards from 2001. Any other recommendations?
For $50 you can get plenty of Mechanical Keyboards, what features are you looking for?
Does anyone know a good site to buy a Ducky Shine keyboard?
For $50 you can get plenty of Mechanical Keyboards, what features are you looking for?
I can think of only one.
I can think of many. The only one which isn't really old though is a TKL board from China which uses knockoff Cherry blues (MX Yellow).
For $50 you can get plenty of Mechanical Keyboards, what features are you looking for?
Its for my desktop which I generally use for college work and gaming. I like having media controls too. Noise when typing isn't really a problem since I'm in my own room, having backlit keys would be a nice touch since I'm always in low light when I use the computer at night time.
So I never really gave any merit to the whole 'once you feel mechanical keys, you'll hate rubber dome keys' until actually using them. I can safely say that my netbook's keyboard does not feel nice. It feels rigid in comparison.
I can think of only one.
You would be surprised with the used market and the "cheap" alternatives such as the board Chubbs stated above.
Having just spilt the majority of a pot noodle into my 7G, what should I do? The fucker keeps looping keys unless I turn it upside down (and then lots of keys don't work or are transposed)
remove all the key caps, put in dishwasher (or it'll be super sticky probs) and dry it. Put it in a sack of rice if you want to quicken the drying. [editline]1st December 2012[/editline] actually I don't know how the springs will like being wet, might want to just dump some clean water through it and then let it dry
This can only end badly - every time I remove a keycap on this thing it never stays on tightly again The way the keys are held on is fucking retarded Might see if I can approach it from the other side, not a clue what the internal structure of a mechanical is like compared to the rubber domes I've been into before

If you have to you could completely replace all the springs, though I doubt that they'll have been permanently damaged.
I was searching for some old IBM keyboard. I just have something for them. Found an IBM KB-7993 at the local flea for $5. Still works wonders, although I can't get the media keys to work (Volume, Launch Word, Internet etc etc). Anyone have any idea where I could find a way to get them work on Windows 8? The Drivers for it seems impossible to find.
I just bought the CM Quickfire Storm MXBrown and OMG. It's like typing on air. I'm still getting used to the more pronounced keys, but I am definitely noticing a huge difference in how it performs compared to my old G15 and my laptop keyboards. Not to mention, my cat flips his ears while he is sitting next to me every time I press a key since it is a tad bit louder than what he is used to.
Just bought a QPAD MK50 with Cherry MX Red. Aaaaaah typing is orgasmic now. :v:
I know this is the Mechanical keyboard thead but I'm just posting this here to see what response I could get I'm trying to decide between a Logitech G15 and a Razer Blackwidow I already know that the Blackwidow is Mechanical and the Logitech G15 isn't but if anyone here has used both of them could you list your general experience with both keyboards and which one you would suggest?

DO NOT BUY A BLACKWIDOW. On a more serious note, I've had terrible experiences with my blackwidow since I got it. I really reccomend anything other than Razer. Also, have you guys seen this?
