G15, G15, G15, G15. DO NOT BUY A BLACKWIDOW.
On a more serious note, I've had terrible experiences with my blackwidow since I got it. I really reccomend anything other than Razer.
Also, have you guys seen this? http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/blog/v2preview/
Yes, avoid the Blackwidow like the plague.
Okay well I've picked out the Logitech G510 since I've looked back at the Logitech G15 and I don't think I can cough up 169.99 for a keyboard (Amazon, it's no longer for sale on Newegg.com)
Anyone here used the G510 before?
And if so is it any good?
And for the mouse I have chosen the Logitech g400
any good?

For the cost of a G510 you can get some decent Mechanical Keyboards. What features are you looking for?

The G400 is a great mouse, I use its predecessor the Mx518 when I travel.

To be rather honest I have a soft spot for Logitech Products
I have a Logitech Mouse, keyboard, speakers, microphone, headset, and gamepad
But I am always willing to go for another brand for keyboards
Hmm
I do like backlit Keyboards as well but I'd say Just a keyboard that will be good for Primarily FPS+RTS Gaming really
Games played
TF2
ARMA
SC2
GTA
And I type quite alot and my WPM is 98 on average but Not like it matters just posting it here incase you find a keyboard that is good for gaming and typing

Are you going to want macro keys? Logitech does make a Mechanical Keyboard but it is rather expensive for what it is.

Yes I'd be fine with Macro key's
And yeah I know the logitech keyboard your talking about but I'm not too hot on dishing out that much for a keyboard

I know how you feel. Over time, their products kind of took over my desk. Speakers, mouse, keyboard, joystick, headset... At least it's not bad; they make good products.
I have a logitech G510.
It takes a little getting used to, but it's pretty good.
I almost never use the screen though, it's kinda useless for the games I play.

Do you prefer the "Gamer" style, or are you okay with a simplistic look?
[sp]Simplistic is better in my opinion[/sp]

Hmmm
Both styles are fine but I've been using Keyboard with simplistic designs all my life
But um I think I'll give gamer a go for once since I've never had any sort of 'gaming" thing in my life really expect a headset so I'll give the G510 a spin
Of course if you still find something go ahead and post it for me :p

If you want the "Gamer" look go with this and if you want a simplistic look go with any of these.
I'd go with the Leopold if I were you.
[editline]December 3rd 2012[/editline]
Also what kind of switch are you looking for? Clicky? Tactile? Linear?

Actually after much consideration I think I'll just settle with a Logitech Keyboard for now
Keyword "now"
I'll probably pick up a mechanical down the road since
I talk with my friends over voice in Steam chat alot and since I type fast (98-119 wpm) They usually hear my typing while talking and they say it's incredibly loud so I'll choose the G510 for now (If you find any other Logitech Keyboards that I might like pm me)
Ty for your help though!
You were quite helpful!

Now wait, not all mechanical keyboards are loud. I think we can work something out.

You've forgotten about the non-clicky, silent switches.
In this case you should go for the Leopold with brown switches.

I sent him a PM earlier with both Cherry MX Black and Red Leopold's. Browns are still somewhat noisy.

Blues are clicky, browns are not. If you meant they are tactile, then yes you are right.
Blues are clicky, browns are not. If you meant they are tactile, then yes you are right.
This is where most people slip up, yes Blues are the well known "Clicky" ones but Browns do in fact "Click" you are right when you say they are tactile but the "Click" I'm referring to comes from when the hat of the switch slips past the contact point.
The term "Clicky" can be thrown around oh so easily.

Then that isn't the actual switch itself being clicky.
The only "Click" sound is when I bottom out and when the key rises. If I press down on a brown just till it actuates, it isn't really a definite click but more of a mushy sound. Blues have a little plastic tab that makes a defined click noise, as browns do not.

Blues have a free floating actuator that causes the loud "Click" noise and Browns have a combined actuator that causes less of a noise, so that "Mush" sound is what I'm referring to.
What ever noise or feeling a Cherry switch produces comes from the shape of the actuator. (Minus the actual actuation force)
Like I said the word "Clicky" can be tossed around.
[editline]December 4rth 2012[/editline]
Cherry MX Clears are in the same boat.
dude
the extremely vague noise of plastics rubbing against each other is not a click.. and that is all the noise that's generated when browns actuate. with that logic every switch which incorporates mechanical movement is clicky
[editline]4th December 2012[/editline]
oh and blues and browns both use the same 45g spring that reds does

I never said that that they used different springs.
After using blues on and off for a month now, I'm not really sure I like them that much. It feels like the amount of force required to get past the tactile point is so much that I always end up bottoming out. Whenever i try to avoid bottoming out, I end up missing half my keystrokes. Just feels like it takes much more effort to type on blues than browns.
Anyone else had a simliar experience?

I touch type, using the home rows and all that.

Try to train yourself. When you first hear the click raise the finger up, it takes time and practice when switching to a mechanical keyboard especially when jumping straight into Blues.
[editline]December 5th 2012[/editline]
That is the only advice I can really give you.

Well, I've been using browns for like 6 months now. I feel like the tactile point on them is just enough for you to know you've pressed the key, but not enough to stop you from easily actuating the key. I'll try to pay more attention to the clicks though. I guess that might be the reason they are there. I've been pretty much ignoring them up to this point. Probably a habit I have from the browns, because they don't make nearly as much noise unless you bottom out.
I have a feeling that I will be using this IBM model M till the day I die
Also somebody heard me playing gmod using it via skype, and asked what the hell was making so much noise, so I told them it was my keyboard, they asked for the model so they could see what was making such a weird noise and then proceeded to rip it apart for being "beige" and "old" and not having macro keys
Some people eh, He owns a Razer wireless keyboard as well to top it off
