Starting to get a feel for the blues now. I no longer bottom them out much. Typing three chemistry reports and one physics report in three days got me a long way :v:
Got myself a Noppoo Choc Mini with brown switches a couple months ago and this is the first mechanical keyboard I've ever owned - I love it and don't think I'd ever be able to go back to a membrane one, it's painful enough using them at college.
Custom keycaps for backlits (specifically Ducky Shines). DO WANT!
I would like to have something like those for my daskeyboard.
It depends how much you're cleaning them, if you still smoke and how low you're willing to go. When I got my PS3 from a smoker, I had to take the entire thing apart and wash nearly everything (Minus the motherboard, Bluray drive, HDD and PSU PCB) in hot, soapy water to get the smell off. I imagine a keyboard would be really tricky to clean.
It's not like I huff and puffed all over it. It's mostly crumbs from my desk. How low do you want? I'm not gonna sell a $120 keyboard $50, but I wasn't planning on selling it at brand new prices either.
My brother is after a mechanical keyboard - requirements: - UK layout - Preferably <£100 - Red switches - Volume wheel or discrete volume buttons that do not require a modifier key to be pressed - Fully mechanical (not corsair k60/k90) - Numpad included
The Corsair boards are the only ones I can think of right now that have dedicated volume controls other than the Logitech G710 but that's out of his range anyways along with not being the right switch.
filco at keyboardco assign volume control via sharpkeys or autohotkey
Seriously, why don't more people do this? Also, new escape key. Not sure if I like it. Just being a faggot.
Can anyone recommend a durable mechanical keyboard that's not over $60?
Can anyone recommend a durable mechanical keyboard that's not over $60?
This is the only one I even know of, http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=114&cp_id=11401&cs_id=1140102&p_id=9433&seq=1&format=2 but the Quickfire is just barely over $60

[editline]19th December 2012[/editline] I looked it up, it's $66. I can afford that but is it really good and durable?
I have the quickfire pro, you could use that shit as a weapon. Really solid.
The pro version is 100 dollars though, crap. I'll suppose the normal quickfire is just as good in terms of durability then.
Yeah they're built nearly exactly the same, except of course for the backlights and numpad.
I don't think you can find one for that price.
I don't think you can find one for that price.
Look at the top of the page.
The pro version is 100 dollars though, crap. I'll suppose the normal quickfire is just as good in terms of durability then.
In my experience "Pro" in terms of computer peripherals is generally "exactly the same but more bells and whistles".
Yeah that is what it means usually ^. I like my bells and whistles, only if there are only functional though. If not then they kinda look stupid.
Can anyone recommend a durable mechanical keyboard that's not over $60?
A used Model M?

Looks like I found my solution to the Cherry Blue problem I was having. http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/articles.php?article=cherry_green_mx_switches_coming GREENS MOTHERFUCKER! Ordering mine today.
Greens are like blues but harder to press, right? I have a green on my spacebar.
That's exactly what it is. I love the clickyness of the Blues but hate how easy they are to press.
Anyone of you know a mechanical keyboard with backlit? Can't find one unless the price is like 200 euro.
Anyone of you know a mechanical keyboard with backlit? Can't find one unless the price is like 200 euro.
CM Storm Trigger, CM Storm Quickfire TK, Corsair Vengeance K90, Ducky Shine II, Gigabyte Osmium, Rosewill RK-9100, probably some others I can't think of. There might be WASD keyboards with backlighting.
I just ordered a WASD in this design as a Christmas present for myself. It'll be my first mechanical keyboard, looking forward to trying it out. [t]http://i.imgur.com/j3rT5.png[/t] I replaced the numpad with multimedia keys because I just use the top row for numbers.
Concidering getting a Razer Blackwidow because of the dedicated media keys, back lit and macro keys. Decent choice? I can get it for 90 euro's which is a lot cheaper then the 139 they suggest.

The CM Storm Trigger will be much better, although the media keys are function keys it's a minor inconvenience and it has the other two things you listed.
