My green comes in tomorrow! MechanicalKeyboards.com has some great shipping speed!
And it has arrived! No branding version too so no CM Storm logos anywhere. Feels great, love the stiffness and click of the keys. It's not as loud as the blues but still retains that awesome clicking feel. Definitely my new everyday keyboard.
*shit, thought it would post merge*
Looking at buying my first mechanical keyboard, any opinions on the Max Keyboard Nighthawk X8/9?
I'm throwing up between this, the Ducky Shine II and the Das. Any advice on which I should choose?
If you like backlit, I would recommend the Ducky Shine although they are a tad expensive, those Max keyboards were on sale awhile back as well and I believe Monoprice are just rebranded versions of those Max keyboards too which also go on sale.
I'm starting to think that maybe blues would be better for me; I'm having trouble figuring out how lightly I can push keys. It's the point where I'm surprised that it articulates so lightly but at the same time sometimes I hit too light.

Totally recommend the Das. Had mine for a long time now and it's awesome.
I have a Das Keyboard (blues) and I just got the Steel Series Sensei, and after I installed the software and used it for a little after a while everything went all wonkey with the typing, I would type and nothing would show up and windows would pop up and stuff, and i would restart and it would be fine then after a while it would do it again. Is this a conflict with the keyboard and the mouse software? (sorry if this is the wrong place to ask I didnt want to start a whole new thread)

I've heard from acouple Sensei owners that the software is horrible so it's probably the streelseries software messing up somthing.
Here's hoping the maybe-one gift I get out of winter holidays is a mechanical keyboard, I'm dying from long hours with this dome board ( RT7D50 )
I had problems with my Sensei but a firmware update solved it (specifically, a firmware "fix").
Yeah It turned out being the software! Thanks guys, happy holidays :)

I really like the look of it but its quite expensive, wondering if anyone has experience with it
Can anyone please recommend a keyboard?
The primary use would be for gaming (WoW mainly, but also including FPS`). I'm currently using a Logitech G15 keyboard.
I was looking at purchasing a mechanical keyboard as I hear they're better than standard keyboards. I'm looking to spend up to $120 - $150 (AUD). Prefer cheaper however if it's a quality keyboard willing to spend more.
I'd like backlit keys, a numpad isn't a huge requirement and doesn't bother me if it has one or not. Silly request also, but I'd prefer a loud "clicky" key. I've seen people recommending the CoolerMaster Storm Trigger and it's available for $119 (AUD).

KBT's are really nice but I don't like the layout on them.
Thank you guys. I dodged a bullet here some days ago, when i wanted to buy razer blackwidow. It seems 6g/v2 has arrived here. Gonna get one.
Quickfire Rapid with blues coming in a few days after new years. Good choice?
My Model M is having some difficulties that need cleaned out and I wanted to try cherrys anyway.
Well I'll be dogged, my 7870 and my QF Rapid are both arriving on my birthday.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know of a way to get these nut things off a Model M? I'm trying to disassemble it to clean everything real good (N key sometimes doesn't register, or does a "nm" deal, h is also a bit hard to get working, I have to slam the damn key to get it to work.)
I don't have a nut driver that is narrow enough to fit inside some of the recessed areas at the back of the board.
If you like the clickyness of blues, go for it. Blues are too loud for my house but I do love them. I prefer greens with the stronger switch but those are harder to find. Also do they make any switches that are like browns but a stiffer spring? I really feel as if my browns are getting too easy to press but I don't want any linear switches.

What's the cheapest tenkeyless board with backlights? There's not a backlit quickfire rapid is there?
I don't get how people say blues are too loud. Unless you're in your living room or something.
Sorry I haven't been around to help with questions its been fairly busy the past week.

There is, it's called the QuickFire TK. http://www.cmstore-usa.com/quickfire-tk-mechanical-gaming-keyboard/ Fully backlit unlike the Pro

It's tenkeyless size, but it has the numpad

Sometimes it surprises me just how young some of you are.

there are plenty of active posters on FP that are under 13.

Not that I care tbh

also I had to pass up on a new mechanical KB for christmas, but I found a Model M at the local electronics dump
the feedback is overwhelming

Just the extra click + the clack, is REALLY loud in my house. We don't have carpet anymore and our walls are a bit thin so everything can be heard...
[editline]30th December 2012[/editline]
Cooler master needs to make a clear switch board, I love my browns but I want a stiffer spring.
Does anyone know how long it takes for Das Keyboard to finally wear out? Mine is almost reaching a year and I haven't seen any sign of quality loss yet.

Oh shit, those look awesome! Would totally get one of those if it came in greens.
