das makes an mx black version?
get the k90
hmm, I thought they did, maybe I'm mistaken and it's browns, but I don't think I am.
Why isn't there a Keyboard with Cherry MX blue or buckling springs with nordic keyboard layout (Æ Ø Å) and dedicated media keys?
Been hunting for one for quite some time now, and I just can't find any.
I have this one:

Levetron Mech4, it's pretty sweet. It has cherry black switches and I personally enjoy the shear size of the thing.
The last page sums up the threads opinion on that particular board.
lol

More rice than a chinese takeaway.
Looks better suited sitting at the control panel of the Nostromo than at a computer desk.
funny thing is without all the shit on the sides it looks like a shitty dell keyboard
What's the best mechanical money can buy without paying for brand?

just get this http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=67069&vpn=SGK-4000-GKCL1-US&manufacture=COOLERMASTER&promoid=1029

100 is usually the minimum for a mechanical KB
I sort of meant, the best before the feel/sound/build quality of the keyboard doesn't get any better and you're only paying for looks, brand and rice. Das for example, feels like I'm paying for brand.
Like the customizer for example, is there any better sound/feel than a buckling spring mechanical?
misread that, sorry
Buckling springs have a different feeling than the cherry switches. For typing you'll probably be fine with them, but for other uses you might want to go for cherry switches.
At around 100ish US you stop really getting much more for your money on cherry switches. There isn't that much variation, from what I've seen. Filcos have the metal plate in there, some other boards have backlighting, others have NKRO over USB and some have media keys and stuff, but they'll all feel roughly the same.
After cherry switches you can go for topre realforces, but those are significantly more expensive. Again, they have a different feeling.
If I had tons of money, I'd get a WASD keyboard
you aren't paying for brand when you buy Das
leopold is really the cheapest and imo the best brand for simplistic design

I have used both a model M silver label (supposedly the best buckling spring) and white alps and cherry blues. So far my preference is the alps, they have a nice tactile feel and don't have a strange springy echo like the model m does. The cherry's are okay but they feel a bit springy and light.

Besides the ABS plastic (which I don't care about) it really is a fucking awesome keyboard.
If they do come out with PBT tenkeyless keyboard I will shit bricks and hop all over that shit though.
Leaning towards WASD because coolness, DAS is just way too expensive in the UK, however the buckling customizers still seem like a great purchase, I play games casually, would the springs be ok for this?
Possibly. For games you could be better of with Cherry Browns or Reds though, or maybe even Blues.
Something like a Cherry G80-3000 would do nicely, though they might be hard to get hold of with Blues in anything other than German if you want ISO.

Buckling springs are alright, I think blues are best for gaming and 2nd to buckling springs for typing though.
Some people have problems with reset times but I think they're just being ham beasts.
Whats a good mechanical keyboard that will mostly be used for gaming but without the loudness? I'm not sure I understand which cherry switches are what.
mx blacks/reds

steelseries' 6gv2, leopold keyboards

Cherry MX switches are like this:
Blues are loud (clicky) and tactile (they have a bump in the travel of the key once it activates).
Browns are quiet and tactile.
Clears are like the Browns but lighter to press (or maybe heavier, I can't remember).
Reds are quiet and non-tactile (they have a linear press without a bump when it activates) and have a very low pressing force.
Blacks are quiet and non-tactile but have the hardest press needed out of all the Cherry MX switches.
For gaming I would recommend either Reds, Blacks or Browns. With the Browns being preferable if you are going to be doing quite a bit of typing too.
The tactility on Browns isn't very strong though, so if you have a ham hand when playing games it'll feel like blacks. People generally decide browns are the inbetween.
are blues playable with games? do people have experience? I may need to pick up that quickfire from ncix
yeah they're very playable, they're just browns but loud

I have no problems when I play games on my blue switch keyboard.

If you mean paying for brand, like with Filco. Leopold is one where you don't pay for brand. Fullsize keyboards tend to be cheaper then tenkeyless because of demand.

With filco you get a metal board mounting style or something, so that's something to consider.
For gaming it depends on what games you play. For stuff where you have to press a decent amount of buttons at once pretty quickly I'd probably recommend red or black. For stuff where accuracy is more important I'd say blue. In between would be brown.
I think I want to move from my G510/G15 fetish and move to a nice mechanical board since I find myself typing a lot for descriptions, work, and schools.
I think I would like the MX Reds, I don't... think I would need the tactile click. Also someone here has a keyboard with customized keys with different colors, I'd like to get one that has that option.
Backlit is no longer a point since my monitor is IPS and dumps light everywhere. I will miss my LCD, but I find I don't use it much except as a timer.
So I think I want:
MX Red or Black. I don't think I need tactile feedback. Though I've typed on dome for my whole life.
Media Keys of some kind/volume control
The double shot injection molded keys or whatever. I saw it on another mech-key topic.
I'm a generally fast typer and don't tend to hit the wrong key, so I think the reds would work for me.
What should I look for?
ocn dk9008g2, but the media keys are function keys
